Jenine? Are you not Lampworking anymore? I would LOVE to see more of your creative work!! I get a kick out of the eccentricity of the pieces, they are fun an fabulous! I am a more main stream lampworker so the bead work I do is catering to women of middle age at jewelry shows....blech :) I guess I live vicariously through you! Please post more if you have time. Thanks!
Bead annealing means soaking the bead in heat to gradually escort it (over a period of several hours) from the working temperature of the torch down to ambient room temperature. Annealing allows the glass to release internal stress, and this makes the beads more structurally stable in the long run. Putting beads into a fiber blanket does not anneal them, it only slows their cooling down to decrease the immediate likelihood that they'll break.
I recommend against lampworking glass from bottles, mostly because glass rods are easier to hold than shards) and the glasses are probably incompatible. This means that, if used together, they would contract at different rates while cooling, and probably crack or break.
I realise spacial relation is different from the camera's view than it actually is in person but I still wince every time your hands get near the flame. lol This is neat.. not sure I could do it as clumsy and somewhat uncoordinated as I am but it's very interesting. :D
I jumped so bad when you dropped that rod! XD Beautiful talented work!
So soft spoken. I love it haha
Your video has been very informational and is making me perfectly sure I am not able to do this.
