I agree. But this is actually not the live version from the 1971 Fillmore East album. I know every note on that album! This is a little less ... perfect, let's say, and a lot shorter.

This performance was from the Wednesday evening September 23rd, 1970 show at the Fillmore East so just a few days past 52 years ago, and is not from the Live At The Fillmore East album that was recorded and released later in 1971. Pretty certain this performance was recorded for the purposes of being included as part of a documentary about Bill Graham's Fillmore East that eventually aired on PBS and included performances from the Byrds, the Elvin Bishop Group, Sha-Na-Na, and Van Morrison. The one-hour documentary was fittingly entitled "Welcome To The Fillmore East." For some reason, perhaps recording "gremlins" that occurred during their set, none of the Allman's work that night made it into the documentary. So thankful though this and a couple of other #'s they recorded that night managed to survive and surface eventually for all of us who remain ever taken w/the sights and sounds of the original lineup Allman Brothers Band.

Biz, if you ever get near my hometown of Macon, Ga you should check out the Allman Brothers Museum there. You can also go to Rose Hill Cemetery and visit the graves of Duane Allman, Greg Allman, and Berry Oakley. Berry was the bass player who died in a motorcycle accident, only about a year after Duane had lost his life in his own motorcycle accident. Crazily, the places they wrecked were just a few blocks from each other there in Macon.

They were just one of the best EVER.The first solo was Duane Allman. Greg Allman is singing. And the second solo id Dickey. So much great brothers for you you to get into. You don't Love me Know more, One Way out. The list keeps on growing. Powerhouse of a band. Even the later versions of the band with Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes. Thanks for doing this, but you need to more. And I think this was one of the only songs you listened to without stopping it. I am so glad you did this. I’m 72 years old and have had the pleasure of going to many great shows. In 1969 I went to a concert at Merryweather Post Pavilion in Columbia Md where Zepplin was the opening act for The Who and blew them away. But I think my favorite experience was, being able to see the Allman Brothers at Painters Mill a theatre in the round, very small and intimate venue in Owings Mills Md, it was the last show Duane played, he was killed 12 days later, it was a religious experience. I really liked your reviews of Steely Dan, probably my favorite music of all!

I love getting to see Duane doing what he loved so much. When he told Gregg they were gonna have two drummers, he just had to go with it cause Duane was the older brother and he was the boss in every way. Gregg had to hitch all the way from California to get back to the band and he also had to learn to play a Hammond organ because Duane said so! Gregg respected his brother because he was the man after their father was killed when they were very young. He wasn't old enough to be a man, but he kept his little bro in line.

Yo Biz, as far as the 2 drummers go !! I'll try to break it down real simple and teach you the very basics of drumming ( it's been a LONG time since I picked up some sticks, but I'll have you drumming with them in just a few minutes) ! Sooooo,, the whole band is going to the same time signature ( which I know you know that) ! And I believe the timing on this song is 4/4 ( meaning theres 4 beats per measure ) . So think of it as tapping your foot 1...2....3...4 ( that's one measure,,, then you start the next measure 1...2...3...4) . As long as both drummers are hitting the snare drum on the 2 beat and the 4 beat, they can stay in sync or one can go off the path and do a roll or whatever, but when he's done and coming back to the beat,, he just gotta be sure to catch the snare drum again on the 2 and the 4 ( which for a drummers isn't tough at all, because both drummers are using the "kick" drum ( non stop thru the whole song . The kick is going 1..2...3...4....1...2..3...4 etc, while the snare is just 2 and 4 ! It's not too too hard,, as long as your a person with rhythm! So now go get you some sticks,, your a drummer now LOL

Jaimoe the black drummer was the second member of the band,Duane guitarist in tye dye and Jaimoe put the band together Gregg Duane’s brother funny enough was the last member, the Band named it the Allman Brothers Band, Greg and Duane did not want it named that lol and the most important thing about this band specially, when all six members were still together as they cannot be lumped in with the rest of southern rock, these were progressive musicians, whose favorite place was New York City but they were southern boys, all of them, and they love the south it’s where they all grew up but they did not like the term southern rock they didn’t want nothing to do with it. You should do dreams from the same show. Sadly, this is not the Fillmore East album. This is the earlier recording there and there were technical glitches and obviously the audio was trash and they didn’t know how to record musicians the people hired to film them for a PBS broadcast and it was never aired but luckily it made it out to us anyway you should do dreams all never see from that same show it’s got the same film. Part of the vocals are missing but boys that guitar solo something else in 3/4 time signature so it’s really got a gallop to it.
