Ive raised pits for 30 years and ive never had a problem with them or their behavior. Dogs are like children they need to be taught what to do and what not to do. You definitely need to have patience and commitment to raise dogs. I dont recommend a person that doesnt have the time to raise a dog to get a dog. Because its a big responsibility, Tommy needs to be trained properly. If hes not its going to get worse. And given that you said Tommy has a rocky background, dogs also suffer from anxiety. And anxiety comes with destruction, so hes going to chew things, destroy things, constantly busy, use the bathroom in the house. I hope things work out for you and the dogs. I hate to see them go but you also need to do whats best.❤❤

It's all about training friend. The dogs have to be trained not to use the bathroom indoors. Tommy is still young, and could probably use more training. I know this may be some real yt ish, but have y'all thought about doggy daycare? Or possibly hiring a dog walker to walk him during the day. That would give you a break and possibly tire him out.

Yeah, I feel like he just needs training. My grandmother used to work with his family and they got a new dog. They sent the dog for training for six weeks because the dog had the same problem Tommy is having he would pee and poop in the house, he was very food driven, like if you had food, he would jump up and grab it after he came back after six weeks. He only ate when he saw my grandmother sit down to eat. and he was like a brand new dog.

I know it's another expense but our friend had the same breed. He's still young and that breed requires a lot of exertion to expel that energy. Her sending him to doggy daycare really helped tire him out and with training. Just a thought. Training Training Training is key with dogs. You have to invest in their behavior. Also although it may appear cruel crate training is natural and gives them boundaries.

Especially when they come in from the back yard. If you don’t want to groom them yourself, take them to a dog groomer or contact a mobile dog groomer. Much love to you & your family. 7:31

Jazzy there is a thing called crate training. My sister crate trained her 2 dogs. They were wonderful. Try it. It’s not a bad thing it’s a good thing.

    • @jc605__
      @jc605__ Месяц назад +2

      Yeah
You can do short stints, like three hours. Leash Tommy ( you may hurt yourself trying to control both on leashes at the same time).
11:32 as you open the crate door. Walk them to the door and out to the designated area.
One thing to remember about a crate-make sure it is not too much bigger than the dog. The dog is less likely to pee or poo where he/she has to sleep. A crate that's too long gives them room to potty. Not goof. Another thing- young dogs will likely need to poo thirty minutes after they eat.

    • @EI_24
      @EI_24 Месяц назад +1

I use to work at a doggie day care! Tommy is a golden doodle and he might have anxiety hints the destructive behavior. I would get him fixed and have him on a strict potty schedule. I would invest in a doggie camera that dispense treats when you see Tommy in the act of doing something bad tell him "off" or "down" you could say "no" but some trainers do not recommend "no". When he gets down say "good boy' the camera will shoot out a treat or if you're in the same room give him a treat! Good luck ❤

This is why I love my little puppy. She’s the same size as Princess. If you need to keep Tommy outside put him on a strict diet so you can monitor his bowel movements. Should only be 3 per day. Simple. Walk them morning noon and night. Schedules help dogs. Give them there own place and bathe them regularly it’s work.

Tommy may have some anxiety issues. Talk to the vet about some things you can give him to calm him down. Also when we are anxious or angry, etc. the dogs can sense those emotions and it makes them act out more. And when you do spend time with them, interact and play with them and tire them out so they can take more naps in the day when u aren’t around. And until they are trained you may have to crate them for a few hours throughout the day.

Hey Jazz! As a per owner & growing up around them. I get it your frustrations. But one thing I learned is with everything you do all good just need a routine. I dated a breeder & he always said the dogs have to have routine/training. Feed twice a day once in am once evening. Let them outside to pee pee & poo poor usually right after they eat & drink. Don't allow them to ear & drink all through out the day. Drinking in between is fine but take them outside within minutes. Doing these will train them. I see pets as children & pretty much navigate them as such. I know for me cats are less responsibility & I have 2 & only have to feed, change litter & put them on the same schedule twice a day feed. Cats are self sufficient for the most part. But I digress. If all else fails Tommy would most likely benefit from obedience training. I hope it all works out for you & the family. You got this friend.

I have had the dog shyt issue with short-term guest dogs.
My own dog always used the bathroom in the wooded area inside my fence. He never did anything in the grass.
Try taking the dogs out on a leash. Lead them to where you want them to go. Don't let them out off leash until they start leading you to the spot. I did it by myself, though there were two other people in the house. But, my puppy was younger.
Tommy is going to need everyone to pitch in. They will need to walk him before they leave in the morning and several times when they come home. It's a job for everyone. He's an older puppy, when it comes to potty training. It's going to take work.
As far as chewing and destroying, my dog demolished all remotes and some shoes until he was three or four. I bought him toys and played with him and the toys. He still chewed a pair of Stacey Adam's into a pair of shiny leather mules. He killed a new livingroom suit and a couple down pillows. I tried to remember that dogs do not know why they are being punished, unless to catch them in the act. The way my dog hid from me and didn't meet me at the door, leads me to believe that may not be true.
Tommy is a big puppy and may require a bit of professional training or assistance. If you have a friend that has experience (personally or professionally) in this area, it could save you some money, in a pinch.
I'm praying for you. I know the frustration. You all need to protect your rental/deposit$$$$$.

Some suggestions: Make a play area for the dogs in the backyard. Get them both heated outdoor dog houses. You can hire someone to walk him once a day. Dog parks on the weekend. Chewing can be a sign of stress and, or boredom and he is probably still adjusting to the move. Outside for Tommy. Lots of big dog chew toys and big bones-like ostrich bones.

Things are so different today. When I had a dog back in the day, I left her alone loose in the house with no problems. When I came home and would stick my key in the door I would hear her jumping down from the couch because she knew I would fuss her out for being on the couch. Today, people take their dogs to daycare while they work or even take them to work with them.

Crate training is not evil. You can put toys and treats in the crate to make it fun for him. Some breeds are like that and it's OK for him to be in the crate as long as he's getting walks and time in the back yard. He can come out when the kids get home. It will help him potty train and learn when play time and correct play is. It's also for his protection. He could get a hold of some household cleaners that could hair him etc. So yes it's better for you and him to be in the crate. It's OK friend! 💙

Nah ma, it's just time to get rid of the dogs 🐕 you've tried it's not working . It sounds to me that Tommy just not trained properly and taking care of him shouldn't only be your responsibility and I understand smell cause I can't take it either foul odor.

You can get a lock box with a combination that you can attach to a gate or the bars on the back window. I have one with extra keys and was a god send when I closed my door by mistake and didn’t have my key.

I have a 74lb Tommy, named Milo, same breed color everything same type of behaviors says the chewed holes in my house and ate up shoes. It took a while to get where we are but its work/training & serious $$monyun. When he go to poop outside as he was pooping I praised him and said yes good potty. Now i take him out and say go potty and he go like clock work. Keep him on a schedule and that goes for food. Dnt leave the food out either. Also doggy daycare was a saving grace. This breed is high energy and needs extreme exercise. Hope this helps cause I get the frustration my partner wanted no parts of the big dog we were told he wld be 40lbs max, joke on us. I started training and it was a big help. Good luck!!

I know it isn't funny with the dog situation & I pray that you both figure out a plan with Tommy. That's just like having a step child & working out what you don't like. Tommy needs to be crated until his owner gets home. You are going to just keep getting frustrated

Jazzy you should watch Cesar Milan 😂 I have a labradoodle that’s that big and we made him an area with his crate in it but it’s not closed, the area is gated off. If you don’t want to crate train you should try using a gate to give him boundaries. My dog is 1 and he has put us through it too lol! Oh and we have a dog spray and it makes him smell good between baths. Don’t give up Beauty! He just needs training and boundaries.

I suggest obedience school for both Tommy and Princess. That way they will learn discipline and rules. When they come home you practice what they learned at school and eventually a lot of the destructive and wild behaviors will slowly start disappearing. Dogs can definitely have PTSD and it manifest in wild behaviors. Setting up routines and play therapies can help. Also Cesar Milian is an excellent dog whisperer. I've watched his shows and he can work with any dog with any behavioral issues. Yes it's okay to vent don't worry about that. That's what friends do. Hope this helps and hang in there 😊

Train train train friend! It will take time set up a grooming schedule to bathe him and groom him. Put him on a schedule and stick to it. My dog is trained he does not under no circumstances go in the house we started potty training on the peepee pad and then after outside! But I agree i got a small dog just to ensure it wasn’t too much for me. When no one is home he free roams in the house. Hope it gets better friend❤

Jazzy I 100% get where you are coming from about the dogs this is my first house and I’ve only been here since may!!!
I feel the same way I let my teenage son pick a dog because he promised to take care of it and make sure everything pertaining to the dog would be taken care of💯….he just so happen to get a husky 🤦🏾‍♀️ he does the same thing shit and piss all over the house even on my couch (twice) pissed me off bad💯👎🏾👎🏾 and guess what??? We have carpet 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
I wrote a contract out letting my son know he has 30 days to train him or he has to move outside or back to the shelter and made him sign it #imsick

Before you break a lot of hearts in the family and viewers, please try to get Tommy and Princess some training classes. Please try to teach them what to do and what not to do. I watch my sister's dog from time to time. She is a blend of a toy poodle and shi tzu. So she ia very small. She was trained not to go to the bathroom in the house and she is great with that. She is very smart and is willing to learn for treats as a reward. Please try training classes. AND TRY using dog cologne spray between and after baths. Amazon sells it in bulk too.

They have doggy daycare .. sounds extra and over the top but look into it! My sister has a huge Doberman who was destructive and extremely hyper so she put him in daycare and they are amazing with training and he’s also exhausted by the time he comes home. I’m pretty sure they have a location in Jersey not sure if it’s close to you but it’s called K9 Resorts

Im not a pet person either. My mom got a puppy and I gave multiple speeches about im not taking care of nobody's dog before she got her, even begged her to get one a lil older. I cook her food cuz she's spoiled and hates dog food... i only do it cuz my mom has major joint issues & surgery after surgery, other than that im not doing it. Well now the puppy adores me & I love her, but she has not changed my mind at all. She's A Lot!!! Im never getting a dog 🙅🏾‍♀️

i know who has a silmar breed like tommy, who takes the dog to daycare. let just the dog is always tired out😂😂.
another tip: send tommy and Princess to the gromming place like every 2-3 weeks to help out with the smell and everything
