I'm not sure what happened to the audio with the dry synth at 4:30, it does not sound like that so apologies for the issues! A couple of general things with layering that I didn't mention... Extra layers should always add to/enhance the current sound. You don't want any layers that sound too similar because there's already a layer doing that job. When balancing volume on layers, you usually want to lower the volume right down so that it's only just noticeable, but not overpowering. You don't want to completely change the original sound, you want to enhance it. Keep the core character and balance supporting elements behind it. Hope this helps!
