I actually didn't notice that these engines were put in controlled runaway for most possible power. This vid was the reason I looked at every possible variable
@@eluder25rs 14:37 here it is dumbah smh 🤦🏾 and if you clicked the godamn description it only mentions one specifically, always talking bout something clickbait and can’t even confirm it correctly
On one hand, I enjoyed seeing the stock-looking dual-tired late-model New Holland T8 MFWD dragging the sled almost into the woods; but I wonder how the sled weight box was loaded, vs the semi classes / pickup classes / pulling tractor classes.
@@Dmaxdiefe Thanks! I figured there was something going on from the long chain, just from running calculations for the university ASABE 1/4-scale pulling tractor team I was on 20ish years ago (at a time when the competition pulls were at two different tractor weights with a horizontal chain, and the same two different tractor weights with a downward-angled chain.)
The modified tractors, and some of the unlimited superstock classes, things like that. They’re wheel speed is probably around 120 mph, since they use planetary’s from caterpillar and things like that.. There was a really, and I know this isn’t what you’re talking about, poorly done video, where they did a side-by-side “drag race” with two slides into tractors, but it was so dusty. It was kind of pointless… But anyway, I’m sure if you can figure some thing with three or four blown alcohol engines in the right way you can get some serious mile per hour out of it if your fuel pumps and stuff were set up, right I just feel like it would just have to be purpose built :-)
I was told, by a driver that if the hitch breaks it's instant 130 MPH. I'm not sure if he was telling me a story, or being honest. I have seen the hitch break, and the breakaway switch will kill the engine, and the tractor gets a pretty long way before they get stopped. It would be easy to figure the speed if you know how large the tire is, and how fast it's turning.
@@henrybahnweg3385 Sounded like he used it and it didn't close all the way. After watching again, it seems like the driver's cable failed and the one to the sled had to be used.
Hate the guy's monetary loss with that runaway. However, that's one less Duramax to torment the world with it's needed water pump, fuel filter, and injector repairs...
I'm figuring that the people in the bleachers could get about the same thrills by gathering up their beers, forming a lawn chair circle around a bucket of diesel fuel, lighting it off and watching it burn!!
Or they could spend their time passing judgement on people they don't know or understand in the RUclips comments because they're obviously smarter than everyone else.

Hahaha man just the way it boggles 14:36
The New Holland didn't even smoke, talk about efficiency.
14:00 is where the action is. Only runaway. Title pic is clickbait.
Not exactly. Better to say just inaccurate to the title. The tractor in the thumb is present. Just not the one that goes off...
Thank you!
It’s not clickbait when that’s a screenshot of a part of the video
@@Dmaxdiefe when you put "RUNAWAY DIESEL!!!" in all caps in the title + thumbnail and there's only one runaway that lasts 2 secs, yes, it's clickbait

7:00 they had to finally shut him down or he’d just wind up pulling through the woods.
I think the guy said "He's gonna take it back home..." lmao!!!

As a past New Holland tech,,,We assemble them when they come to the dealership..Glad the wheels stayed on,whew.
I'll bet the greens are lovin this !
Great show, great mix of pullers!
that new holland tractor was a beast, not modify, just twin tire all around and some torque
I’m sure if he really wanted to he could pull all the way across country 😂😂😂
That thing was a monster
It’s tuned up fairly good but yeah a beast

I bet the driver of that runaway had a few loose fillings, that looked violent
That was like riding a bull.
He was fine luckily a little sore the next morning he said but he was pulling the next weekend with that same truck

About 30,000lbs in the sled for the trucks/ fully built pulling tractors but the big tractor had a longer chain so harder to pull and 50,000lbs+

I’d like to see pulling tractor drag race. It would probably be pretty dangerous but I’m curious as to how fast they would be in a quarter mile.

That must of been a scary ride for randy glad he was okay when a diesel engine runs away there is sadly nothing you can do
Thats why they have a guillotine on the turbos.

Block air off it will shut down
He couldn’t grab the guillotine because it was jerking so hard and the sled cable wasn’t working
