Two things. 1. The JB Weld needs to be mixed before it’s applied. 2. There are special outdoor taps that prevent freezing. They’re much longer so that the actual shutoff part is inside the house. Just look for a “frost-free hose bib”, or a “frost-free anti-siphon faucet “.
That was a frost free bib i think, they just left the hose on and the water didnt drain. Thats why it wasnt leaking until they turned it on and the washer way back inside the house allowed the water past it and leaked through the split.
Yeah as soon as they went downstairs and saw water I'm like where's the Frozen burst pipe. The biggest thing you need to do is if you have the right faucet you need to take the damn hoses off the end.
Don't need that, just need a shut off valve on the inside of the house on the inside of the wall where the hose goes out.
I live in eastern Canada, where it is pretty much below 0 from about Nov to March. Don't need no frost free faucet.
@@warrenmichael918 Wouldn't matter, if there was water pressure in the hose going out of the house, and it got cold enough to freeze their water hole, then it got cold enough to freeze the water in the hose, back to that brass fitting. Had the water to the hose been shut off, and the water pressure released from the hose, wouldn't have been an issue.
@@viper29ca I think you replied to me on accident because thats exactly what i was saying. I agree with what you said, the water hose froze up and let the water inside of the hose and all the way back through the hose bib into the house freeze. If they would have unhooked the hose, the water in the short brass hose bib pipe would have drained out and there would have been no water in it to freeze. Thats why these frost free hose bibs are long enough to go all the way into the heated part of the house and the washer inside of the end of the stem is way in the back. I know you guys up in Canada and other super cold climates have a completely different set of needs when it comes to winterizing your water systems. We have some real cold climates here in places in the US but it doesnt last anywhere near as long as you boys get up North , and its not usually anywhere close to as cold either.
Always a pleasure watching you two have fun!
My son is will be ICE DRIFTING for his very first time on a frozen lake next month in Minnesota.
Watching a Texas young man who does not like cold weather drift on ICE should be a blast.
I could see you two doing something like this.
On you frost free bibb, make sure the hose is not connected on the outside and the bibb is off. There should be a book on southerns moving north and the new adventures that come with it
correct. I see all these people saying they need to insulate that piece of pipe! LOL The basement is heated so insulation isnt needed, just remove the hose and let the hose bib drain so it wont freeze.
Chase, Thank you for the awesome videos.

How long have you been my fan ??.
Awesome video! Awesome signing Moe!
having a house is a bunch of fun. i came home one time and my water heater had overheated and there was hot water in my basement
feel your pain.. basement on one of my properties flooded due to a 3 cent plastic nut for the toilet upstairs.. was running for 14 hours straight and only caught it because i was doing a house check since the tenants were on a business trip for 3 weeks. 3 cents cost me 85k dollars.. fml but could of been worse since i almost didn't go that day to check.
Even with a frost free hose bib you need to make sure to disconnect your hose when not in use. Otherwise the water will be trapped and freeze anyway. It was 10 below here last week (omaha Nebraska)
You have to combine the two types of jb weld to get the right consistency guys, good luck.
Majestic song at the end gotta say
It's very interesting that Hailie was complaining that she couldn't feel her feet yet if you look closely she was wearing flip flops in their gym
Aw come on Hailie! I was expecting at least a triple Salko when you were skating! 🤣🤣🤣
Hailie I hope yall are warm cause its cold up there
JB weld…… you mix together then apply to damage area………😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
Lol Directions thoroughly mix well before applying🤣🤣 don’t knock JB Weld if you use it correctly it’s still holding well on my 1988 CR 250
Yea southern houses run ur water rn up north we don’t have to worry just cause of the way are houses are built! Awesome vid
😂Soo funny on ice, chase about getting stuck! I'm up in Pa, get that insulation tubing for your plumbing, that will help plumbing from freezing! 😎👍❤️
Not needed, the basement is heated. They just need to remove the hoses from the hose bibs so the water can drain out and not be in the brass hose bib pipe.
When water enters the pipe and the pipe is exposed to freezing temperatures it causes the water to freeze and expand and the pipe will start to burst once the water melts. It's a good idea to use fiberglass insulation for your pipes.
Woof Wooof Woooof! Meeeoow!
You have to mix the JB weld my guy lol.
2 things wrong in this video. Job weld is 2 part and needs to be mixed before applied.
Also, turn your hose bib valve off on the inside to not allow water on to hose bib but leave hose bib valve on outside of house open and put an insulated cover over top. Covers are less than 10 bucks.just an fyi. Enjoy the videos! Keep it up
Love the video
As a plumber from California we still know when you have freezing temps make sure you insulate all those water lines to help prevent that from happening I think the plumbing contractor dropped the ball there call his a$$ back!
Next time the basement floods, use a shop vac to clean up the water. Then a couple of fans to dry the rest.
Hi hailie I I’m a fan of you. You should get more kids merch
It helps if you mix it together before applying
🎉fun fun fun🎉
Yes thank you for your understanding support ❤️
You dont leave the hose dripping, you REMOVE the hoses from the hose bibs in winter.
Try living in Northern Alberta Can. Was -54 degrees Celsius this week... lols
Living up in the Northeast we shut our outside water spigots off and you will not have that problem lucky you were home
If the basement is heated it shouldn't have frozen. And you can install a valve back up the line on the down pipe so you can drain it before you get cold weather.
That is a frost free sigot the problem would be you must disconect the hose
so the ice will not run back the hose and expand in the valve and crack it
so if you have others get the hose off have a nice day.
inside water tap shut off is needed, especially outdoor taps
JB WELD WORKS, BUT YOU HAVE TO MIX IT, HAILIE YOU LOOKED LIKE YOU WERE MEDITATEING IN FRON OF THE BIKE LOL!!!!!
Lol sure i was, how long have you been my fan ?.
Next time you use JB Weld you might try mixing it!
You can get frost free spigots they just have to be angled downward the valve ends up being on the inside and as long as they're angled downward the water will drain out whenever they're closed
I’ve lived in Missouri my entire life and never had to crack a valve during cold weather. That was a framed exterior wall so it is exposed to outside air temperatures. It requires insulation. You need to insulate that wall so this won’t happen again! That is an outdoor anti freeze valve so it should not freeze if the wall is properly insulated.
Whoever built that house should have insulated!
Gorgeous as always Ina non wierd stocker type of way haven’t watch your channel Ina while 🎉
🎯
The pipe cracked because it got too cold and iced up. You need to insulate that section.
no, they need to remove their hose so the water drains out of the hose bib pipe.
Like B said you must mix it to a even color grayish color lol nice 👍 BigAl California, thanks
Laughed so hard when u all was waiting on the J.B weld to dye.that would have been me too.good video
Haha thank you 😊 👍😘..How long have you been my fan ?.
Cant wait to watch you race at Berlin in SRX this year ❤ I hope 🤞 I can meet you!
Put some olll in it
Ah man welcome to cold weather freezing sucks live in NH. We have to run the water in our home other wise the pipes will freeze when it's sub zero for a few days it's a bitch sorry you learned the hard way been there that Honda is tuff as shitt Happy new year 🎉 kidz see yah next year #13
Happy New year ☃️ 🎊 . How long have you been supporting me ?.
They make freeze plugs for your hose outlets
I always shut off the water to the hose pipes so no water is flowing to them. There should be a lever like the ones to you toilet. I also then drain any left over water from outside by opening then closing the hose. Lastly don't use the hose in the winter. Even if it's 45 that day the water is much colder and can burst your pipe. You can also put a small space heater inside by the pipes if needed.
Thanks for the brilliant idea and thanks for your wonderful contribution. How long have you been my fan??.
@@nataliedecker3087 That's a good question. For about a year. I'm a huge motorsports/extremesprots fan. Grew up watching Brian also. Y'all seem like good people. If you ever need anything just hollor.
@@nataliedecker3087 This is not the official Hailie Deegan account.
25 sec POG
They sell cheap styrofoam covers to put over the outdoor faucets to help keep them from freezing and breaking
Nothing wrong with this frost free hose bib they have except they didnt remove their hose like they should have. THe only good thing a foam cover would have done for them was make it impossible to install it without removing the hose first, and that would have been enough on its own.
Chase you mix the JB-Weld BEFORE you apply it!
I'm truly blessed to have a proud supporter like you ❤️. How long have you been supporting my career ❤️?.
The skates in the mud😭
When it starts getting cold like I always take my hose off the spigot in October and put it away for the winter because that's what happens when you leave them hooked to the spigot.
You need to empty the hose of all water too. If you don't the parts where there's still water can expand and split the hose out and you'll need a new hose.
Oh and I liked the way the house was painted green when you bought it.
But apparently you didn't LOL.
❤️
Thanks for your unconditional support ❤️,how long have you been supporting me ?.
Wisconsin here, you have absolutely zero clue what cold is lol!!!
Listen that was a frost free hose bib. Its made for cold conditions. The mistake you made was leaving the hose on it. You see when you tirn that kind of valve off it drains the last bit of water out. But it couldn't because hose was on it.
So it foze and broke . Now at that point you still didn't have a leak . But when you used it the water simply came out the crack .
With the valve open going to say a power washer everytime you werent using the water even more was coming out from back pressure. .
So chaulk it up to experience. Take hose off when chance of freezing conditions best.
" And there's your dinner "
Love this channel!!!!!!
You don’t have to crack them just keep your garden hose disconnected when it’s cold
The j b weld has to be mixed thoroughly with a stick or something.
Needed heater in that basement too. you have exposed walls and no insulation. Those water pipes will freeze as well. Ask me how I know that. LOL. It's really not fun.
They have a heated basement. They just didnt remove the hose to allow the bib to drain like they should have.
Yup disconnect the hoses and keep them indoors in winter
I live in Iowa it gets really cold 🥶.
Are you going to the Tulsa shoot out
First off that piece of pipe is copper, not brass. It froze and split from the ice expanding. The reason it froze is that that is a unheated basement and there is no insulation or pipe wrap on that line. What you need to do is use pipe insulation on any water lines that are against the exterior walls like that. Put a heater in the basement and turn it on when outside temps drop into the teens. Lastly install a Freezeless AntiSiphon Wall Faucet (about $50) that drains the portion that froze on you when you turn it off.
As a iicrc wrt and asd tech... make sure that wood is dry. Also insulate ur pipes
HA HA HA AKA🥶
When that big cold front came and hit ky my friends water froze and pipes busted mine didn’t I let the water drip in my sink and never had any problems and the Main water line to my house is exposed because the water company hasn’t gotten to cover it up yet
Put a shut off in the house and only turn the water on when using It. In Canada we shut them off completely
way too much work to run to the basement to turn the water on. They should just unhook their hose to keep this from happening again. This is a frost free hose bib. You Canadians live in another world too when talking about the cold weather! LOL
@@warrenmichael918 -40 c° lol yeah we shut our water off inside the house also don't have water lines in exterior walls for the reason they don't freeze burst and flood your house.
i live in south georgia the only reason i knew to leave dripping water is bc we work with sprinklers
Are you entering chili bowl and are you at Tulsa shoot out?
Don't use the liquid use the one that's in the tube you have to mix it with your hands I use it all the time when I put a hole in my pit bike it's the JB Weld cement
I’m confused if you were using your pressure washer for 2 hours your pipes couldn’t have been frozen.
Hope you figure out what’s wrong
This break happened the night or days before they used the washer, it just happened to unthaw when the temps came up but couldnt leak because the hose bib was closed. Those are frost free hose bibs and shouldnt freeze IF and only IF the hose is removed. The brass pipe was the end of it and its in the house and thats where the washer is that shuts the water flow off when you turn the handle outside. The water was frozen in the hose and it caused the pipe to split because it was still hooked up, not allowing the water to drain out of the hose bib. The water wasnt leaking when the hose was off because the washer was at the end of the brass pipe is where it was closed. The washer was at the very very end of the pipe, just where it turned to the pex.
Oy Vey. It's not just the brass fitting that's cracked. There's a couple more.
Its a split in the frost free hose bib pipe from not removing the hose, allowing it to drain and not freeze.
Amazing today's youth can sometimes have no clue. LOL
SO EXCITED ❤
Do a two strokes swap on the pit bike please
You and Chase should race late models and race the slinger nationals
Nah Sprint Cars
why would they do that
@@elipalmer79 why not tbh I think it would be fun to watch
Woof Wooof Woooof! Meeeoow!
Are you going to Tulsa for the shootout
Run your sink steady drip hot side
No tulsa?
oh lala 😂
My friend once left the outside faucet on and the frozen water started to melt causing the pipe to bust from the water pressure and his cellar was completely flooded out and ruined.
Most likely the water froze and burst his pipes, then it thawed out and the water was allowed to start flooding.
Haillie my dad used to file down the toe picks on my figure skates so I wouldn’t trip.
Like your videos, but start thinking about doing great in thr truck this year 🤔 😀
Just think about all the thousands of people who this happened to in this Storm that can't even afford to make the repairs.
It’s common for those pipes to break it’s cold out I live in Kinston North Carolina Cold
