Straight up been a big fan since his fight with Clay Guida. So seeing RDA's takedown-spam strategy for literally this past 3 years or so is incredibly frustrating knowing how good his striking is, none moreso than this fight. The key's to victory was there! I can't believe RDA, or even his team didn't emphasize Kicking Luque's legs to help with his spammy takedown attempts, unreal. I honestly think he should retire. He didn't look "washed" or "sad", and losing to both absolute killers in VL and RF in both weight classes ain't too bad at all in hindsight🤔
He took some killer body shots in the first and second that took the wind right out of his sails. You could see his facial expressions from round 1-round 2. He had no core strength and had no suddenness to his striking. Body started to flail around, when he would get clinched up after failing a takedown his arms would just dangle.
Exactly. He said fighters fight for the BMF title because they never held the undisputed title, but you can't be the BMF if all you do is go for unsuccessful takedowns and clinch the entire fight.
Yeah RDA’s fight IQ was seriously sus in this one. His hands were there. Had he not gotten his back against the cage for over 10 min by trying all those failed TDs, he probably gets a R3 or 4 TKO.
The crazy thing is when he fought fiziev he was having a legit case winning that fight. After the first round of this fight he faltered. The fact he was evasively avoiding the striking game was insane. He def could have won this fight and it adds him back to a interesting convo in the division as a gatekeeper
RDA’s corner really did him dirty by not telling him to STOP CLINCHING AGAINST THE CAGE. Luque is too strong. RDA was winning in the middle. Poor strategy.
The IV Ban ruined RDA's career! before the IV Ban, RDA was a monster, he was on a 9-1 in his last 10 run with his only loss coming to the GOAT Khabib. he KO'd Benson and ate clean headkicks from Anthony Pettis after the IV Ban, he got a sloppy TKO over Cowboy (who himself was suffering from the IV Ban and moved to 170 after) and he started looking like a depleted shell of himself against Eddie and Tony, got KO'd by Alvarez and rocked multiple times by pillowfists TFerg before moving to 170 where he's clearly undersized the IV Ban ruined RDA's career! no doubt that Pre-IV Ban RDA destroys every LW in ufc history except Khabib
Still believe Vicente has what it takes to be a champ and in my book he is the most underrated fighter in the UFC. He still has that absolutely unreal heavyweight level punching power, legendary durability, and the heart of an alpha lion. He's also still very young and just entering his prime
He was a lot more measured tonight. The problem is Luque doesn't move his head. He's mulch against strikers like WB, Geoff Neal, JDM, Shavkat, if he doesn't work on his striking defense.
@masudkhoa3861 let's not lie here. Rda landed more strikes overall than colby. Took colby down multiple times. Colby won but let's not pretend it was easy
@@Izzy-zh8ck He landed 18 more distance strikes, but landed 34 less clinch strikes. Took Colby down twice yeah, sick but Colby got up like a cat both times. Meanwhile Colby took him down 7 times and dominated him in the clinch. Who’s lying here?

Even if colby had more takedowns MOST of his take downs were stuffed. Why are you capping to make it seem like colby ran through rda lol. Admit colby had a though fight. Colby ain't gsp or Khabib lol.
Watching RDA display such terrible fight IQ was really surprising. He was doing more damage than Luque with his striking, but he kept shooting against the cage, getting immediately turned around, and then controlled by the bigger fighter. Look I get that a ground attack was you’re gameplan, but wtf dude , make an adjustment. You finally got a TD in R2 but Luque was up immediately and put you back against the cage. How do you keep doing that shit when you’re strikes are finding the mark? Luque was about 2 hard shots from going down there at the end. Imagine if RDA hadn’t spent over 10 minutes pressed against the cage. He probably would have gotten a R3 or 4 TKO.
Two main events in a row where the fighter losing ignored their corner and shot for takedowns in 5th round instead of going for the knockout. If these guys are so scared of suffering brain damage and are ok losing a decision than just retire and stop wasting everyone’s time. I’m realizing now the prelims are so much better because it’s full of fighters who are hungry and are actually willing to put their bodies on the line
Respect to both RDA & Luque🙏 And I want to particularly take my hat off to RDA. The man was a champion who has faced some of the very best in the sport. His longevity is impressive and I expect him to be in the hall of fame. Well done to Luque on getting the win👍🇧🇷

so happy for Luque, I picked him to win as the dog even. He folowed a good gameplan and didnt get into a brawl n take much damage.
Happy to see one of my favourite fighters get the victory, big respect to RDA as well, a legit former UFC champion.
