    Well, you’ve inspired me to try and make a case for my soon to arrive MacBook Pro.
    I like your idea with the shim to glue the halves. I thought about using Kevlar tape like we do to put kayak halves together, but this method looks better for a small project.
    How did you avoid the shim taking up too much interior space? Did you trim it after glueing to one half?

    Hello , I do have a similar project I bought some coloured carbon fibre I want to make a clip board with hinges that opens and has storage compartments the ones I buy at staples brake easy and the locking Mechanism also breaks real easy . My clip board will be strong and have led lighting almost like a portable office with pen holders battery storage compartment and stuff that will help me get things done , it will be thick to hold all these ideas and awesome but I'm new to working with carbon fibre and really know nothing about it can you help me ?

    Keep up the good work! I have a question about the infusion finish. I see from your finish at 8:42 the fibers from the twill are showing a bit instead of a gloss. I keep getting this result in my parts as well and I was wondering if you just keep it like that? I think it's from the vacuum pulling the fibers to the mould not letting resin get to the high parts of the twill. I know I can add another layer of epoxy after but I was wondering if you do anything about that finish?

    • @MatthieuLibeert
      @MatthieuLibeert  8 лет назад

      I like it how it looks like that for this project... I think it's a matter of personal preferences... 90% of my parts get a clearcoat depending of the project, solving the problem you are talking about :) using a gelcoat or extra layer of epoxy could solve it as well like you said

    • @MatthieuLibeert
      @MatthieuLibeert  8 лет назад

      would be a complex piece to infuse in one time due to the narrow shape you have to get all the fibers in, but could work, decided to do it this way for once :)
