  • in this segment, what's featured is how to sort your fur pelts,
How to join pelts together by fur machine, I use a Bonis A fur machine and a Bonis B machine. How to wet stretch your fur for maximum size, and how to block / nail your pelt to a Homasote board surface to dry.
How to use a template / pattern .
How a large blanket is blocked/ wet stretched to dry.
I use Furrier products from " Samuel Bauer Unlimited, a furrier supplier, you can Google them.
Their " Ezz Leather" concentrate is what I added to water , the wetting solution.

Deanna, thank you for this fine series of instruction. I have watched the series several times as I am currently putting together a coyote blanket for a friend. It is my first attempt at making a blanket. It is also only my third time to work with such thin skins. I only have a Bonis “S”, which uses massive needles, in comparison to your “A” and “B” machines (I have mostly worked with much heavier skins). It gives me much bulkier seams but it is the only option I have. I think it will turn out OK even with the heavier seams. I wouldn’t have attempted this project without your instructions. Best regards.

How many coyote pelts do you think it would take for a womans lg/xl coat that hits at about the upper thigh area of a woman that's 5 ft 5 weight about 175 lbs. Wears a size 13 iron 14 size pants?

I really want to pick your brain. Can I use a regular home sewing machine? Can I sew the pelts by hand?

Yes, to handsewing, NO to regular sewing machine, it will shred the seam, the seam does not stretch so you can't nail it or block it. They won't last, sewn by straight machine .

You can purchase a Bonis Fur Machine from Bonis Fur Machines, you can google them., or buy a used. Another choice is a Techsew Fur Machine, I'd recommend a model 202 for general sewing

Usually, all cutoffs are returned to clients, or I make coozies from them for clients
