Repairing Rotted Floor Joist & Outer Band
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 окт 2024
- Today we blocked up the outer band and ran new floor joist, scabs, and ledgers to ensure our sub floor had somewhere to land. Sometimes when cutting old sub floor out against walls, there is no where for the sub floor to be screwed to so in this video we go through the steps that it takes to make sure this problem is taken care of for the new plywood. Thanks for joining us on our journey through the Duplex Diaries - Tabbie House. Hope to see you on the next one!

Hey brother. I've been building houses and remodeling for 23 years. I do a lot of the same things as you. That pipe with the screw in it is the p-trap. I don't know about you but where I live (south west Georgia USA) it's hard to find helpers. Good job though. Your helping people with these kind of videos. Great video.
@David S We made a short on how to repair this and all the experts came out of the woodwork. We don’t claim to know everything and much research is done before we tackle any project so it is nice to hear a positive refreshing comment from time to time. Thanks for the kind words. See ya on the next one.
@@RentThisFlipThat yes sir.
I've never seen a screw inside a pipe like that definitely taught me something new Great Video 👍🏽
I live in carrollton and gonna need to replace my subfloor and it is hard to find people for a reasonable cost to fix housing
@ryanneuman92 I get it. Good work ain’t cheap and cheap work ain’t good
Good content. Water Wins! Thank you. Stay safe.
Great video.
Tks
I am in the same situation for the back door, in Hermitage, but we don't use that door so I am just avoiding it.
I am in Mount juliet. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm close snuff to stop by if needed. Thanks for the comment
What was the range of the cost of this project? Wanting to see if my quote is excessive for my 5x10 area
Don't really remember. It's one of the rentals. But it was when wood was super expensive. So probably wouldn't cost as
much today
Did you receive an estimate for this? I need work done on my home and need to know how much to save
I'm not sure as wood goes up and down on price, but for a 5x7 bathroom, probably 200 to 300 dollars. Let me know more details of your project, and I can probably get closer on price
Nice job of blocking.
I'll do it for $500 and an Uber to the job 😁
That bend is a sewer trap. Makes sure that sewer gases are blocked. Bend creates a cavity for water to sit and block gases from coming up.
Thanks for the comment!
P-trap are required to trap/prevent gases from entering houses or apartments.
That plumbing would be considered an S-trap, which is no longer code. I guess a plumber would just rebuild that with new pipe but not right.
Thanks for not being rude like some people actually are on here. I appreciate your genuine tip.
And advice
Looks like hackerey to me
Hilarious 😂
It's a REPAIR, not new construction. You don't have many options with rotten subfloors; just cut out the rot, and sister joist as best as you can, to avoid having to tear down the whole damn house. Repairs are often stronger than the original construction. Doesn't matter what it looks like once the plywood is laid over it. Nobody will ever look at it or even care.
Thank you sir. I appreciate that. Thanks for the comment
I'm no carpenter but that don't look right.
Probably cause you're not a carpenter
You talk way to fast.
LoL . . . sometimes! Thanks for the comment!
Then slow down the video.
