@@mikkopaloheimo6413 Wifi6(e) streaming is only about a 7-12ms difference these days anyways. Compression and encoding is really hard on the Quest2. Might as well do virtual desktop streaming.
If you want to cast to your tv you can do it to a laptop and use a hdmi cable to link it to your tv, also you can use the internet browser on an Xbox or PlayStation and cast it through there
You don't need Google Chromecast to share what you see, you can just use the free Oculus app on your phone and mirror your camera screen onto your TV. It works just as well!
ngl if you just got the quest, the box it came in is decent for traveling if you dont have anything else, i got a quest 2 in florida, but i live in canada and i left 2 days later so i had to use the original box, and as long as you have big enough luggage, its pretty good.
11:09 I noticed that in gameplay, you have the leather earcups partially on top of the heads trap. There's a major sound difference depending if you can get a good seal on it. And when using the headphones, it actually still uses the mic on the quest, you can tell because the short adapter is only 3 pole (2 plastic bands), which doesn't carry mic audio.

Just stumbled on your channel. Well done review. Short and to the point with excellent advice on the small details that make a difference as to which thing makes sense for the viewer.
Yeah a lot of third party products are leagues better than these official ones. The Elite headstrap according to others breaks quite easily. I use a rift s though so I wouldn't know. Do plan on eventually getting a quest 2 or the new cambria when it releases depending
A wi-fi router that works well for the Quest 2 is the Archer VR1600v. I've measured over 600Mbps with it on the quest to my PC using OpenSpeedTest, but you have to be in the same room, and using the 5Ghz band.
Bad take. That's a super old TPlink router. Wifi6(e) is actually what you want for lower latency and higher bandwidth with the Quest2 (as designed). Just becasue you got 600mbps on a single kb packet speed test does not mean that is the actual speed you are getting. You need to do better ping latency tests internally. The display data stream is around 7-12Gbps depending on 72hz/90hz/120hz, and Wigig does around 7.5Gbps for PCVR wireless systems like the Vive and Vive Pro/2. 600Mbps is hilariously bad. Remember, you are introducing tons of inherent latency through wifi already on top of encoding and compression, you need 24ms or less for presence to work, and wifi5ghz has 50ms of inherent latency to begin with. You'll want to get a modern router with wifi6e and be hard-wired (ethernet cat5e/cat6) to your gaming PC. You'll also need to be in LOS (line of sight) to your router and within 30feets of the connection (you can use NetSpot app to get your heatmap and figure out the best location to be doing VR in for the best experience. Honestly, Quest 2 is "ok" at best for streaming from your PC. If you want to actually play dedicated PCVR, get a dedicated PCVR system like the Valve Index, it's a far better experience. Quest2 is at it;s best when using standalone.
@@sqlevolicious The wi-fi is hard wired to the PC via gigabit switch with Cat6 at 1gbps, and is on a side table in the same room as I use the quest. Most people are VR casuals. Myself included. Can you recommend a specific router that would be good for wireless use with the quest? If it's a decent price i will consider it. A wired setup is just not happening.
@@sqlevolicious Virtual Desktop will not allow you to use more than 150 MBits, since it is limited by decompression workload on the Quest side. So you can actually max it out with a decently setup WiFi 5 5 GHz router. Also Quest 2 does not support 6e anyway AFAIK. As for wired PCVR being clearly much better than wireless streaming to Quest I would also disagree. I've switched to Quest from the original Vive, and I recently tested my Quest side by side with a Reverb G2 V2. Yes, there are compression artifacts, but you see them only in some scenes and only when you concentrate on it. Wireless experience more than compensates for it IMO. As for standalone use of Quest being better than PCVR use of quest, also no. I've bought only 2 apps on the Quest store: VD and Hand Physics Lab. After trying the last one I decided to never try standalone games anymore.
@@lowskillcamper pcvr on quest 2 is amazing once done right and it all depends on settings based on your configuration. I own quest 2/3 and although the 3 is way better in pcvr cause if 2400mbps on VD the 1200mbps max on quest 2 is definitely enough to get a really amazing experience over wireless and ive played wired and wireless pcvr i most definitely prefer wireless and get amazing pcvr. I dont think this guy has even tried to do pcvr correctly and is just saying what he thinks is best because of his use case scenario which is pretty close minded to say what he did as facts.
@@ericsalidbar1693 2400mbps is the estimation of your wifi throughput. It is not the bitrate your VD will use. The bitrate is configures separately, and the maximum is 150 or 400 Mbit/s depending on the codec you use. VD will not use your maximum wifi bandwidth because it can not decompress that amount of data on a Quest anyway. But Higher wifi ceiling would allow you to use multiple stream at once. I, for example, run PICO 4 and Quest 2 on the same wifi at maximum configured bitrate without any loss of quality. I agree that wireless PCVR with VD is amazing in most situations, since VR games mostly have static scenes which compress easily. But some games are especially bad for compression. For example if you have a fores where all the vegetation is animated with the wind (Derail Valley), or drive a car fast through a jungle (BeamNG), compressed signal will fall apart, no matter how good you wifi or usb-c is. For these situations specifically I am considering a proper wired headset.
I love the experience with the oculus quest already, and I don’t even have any accessories! Can’t wait to see what accessories I can get to add to my experience!
My opinion on the charging stand vs the elite battery back I personally would go with the charging stand because with the battery pack sure you have a total of about 4 hours of gaming time but you will have to give the quest a break because it will get pretty hot while playing for that long I would rather play for two hours and then charge it for however long it takes to charge
Do not get the charging dock. Reason 1: Controllers overheat when charging and this can be a serious safety concern Reason 2: It only charges thhe controllers to 50% charge Reason 3: The magnet on the quest 2 is really difficult to get off if you would like to use a link cable or a battery pack Reason 4 (as stated in video): The dock will not work with anything other than the stock headstrap unless you have a lot of space behind the dock Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk
This was a great overview bro! Really helpful. I just received my alienware X17 R2. It was your review that pushed me over the line to buy it haha. Will that laptop be a good fit for VR? I got the 3080ti version
I personally use the bobo vr head strap with hot-swappable batteries. If you buy a second battery, you can literally play forever without needing to plug your headset in
Good video. It's very descriptive and sophisticated, but not too fancy in its wording. However, I did want to mention some cons and misconceptions. With my experience with the elite strap, it works fantastic for securing the headset to your face, but after a while the back piece starts to dig into your head. You don't notice it as much if you play something like Beat Saber for long (since you're focused on something else), but if you're playing games like Rec Room or VRChat for a long time (which most people do) then it becomes a lot more noticeable. Additionally, the original foam part of the Quest 2 very easily absorbs sweat and is near impossible to clean. Due to this, it can become very unsanitary. There's also been reports of skin irritation and even allergic reactions to the material used. Since my Quest 2 didn't come with a silicone cover, I bought a 3rd party cover that went over the foam. Luckily, it seems that's been fixed. Also, I beg you, power the headset off before charging. Don't just hit the button and charge it. That leads to the charging port melting the plastic if you charge it overnight. It's also very dangerous considering the Quest 2 uses a lithium battery of some sort (I'm not great with remembering long names/phrases of things, sorry). Instead, hold the button for ~2 seconds or more until the screen shows you a menu to power off the headset. Hit the off button (NOT RESTART) and then you can charge it overnight safely. One last thing. The lens covers say to not take the Quest 2 outside. You can actually take it outside and use it, but DO NOT point the lenses towards the sky (unless it's nighttime, but who uses their Quest 2 outside in the dark?). They will act like magnifying glasses and melt the insides of the headset if exposed to sunlight for too long.. Otherwise, it's fine to bring them outdoors. Just point the lenses at the ground. Also, don't worry about the cameras on the front. They won't do the same thing. That's all I had to say. Hope this helps a little bit!
I've been wanting an oculus quest 2 for a long time, but even without having one, I watch these types of videos about quest 2 to be able to inform myself. I'm still hopeful that I'll have one!
Hey Arl0isd3ad. Yes and no. It doesn't technically work but there is a work around to make it work but results aren't as good as they would be on a PC with a great graphics card. This article explains it a little more stealthoptional.com/gaming/how-to-connect-oculus-quest-to-mac-can-you-connect-oculus-quest-2-to-apple-mac-or-macbook/

This mans channel is calling me broke
Honestly, the Quest looks good, hopefully I can get one soon
Anyways cool video!
Thanks Aiden! Glad you enjoyed it!
I love the experience with the oculus quest already, and I don’t even have any accessories! Can’t wait to see what accessories I can get to add to my experience!
Welcome to the club mate
My opinion on the charging stand vs the elite battery back I personally would go with the charging stand because with the battery pack sure you have a total of about 4 hours of gaming time but you will have to give the quest a break because it will get pretty hot while playing for that long I would rather play for two hours and then charge it for however long it takes to charge
Or just put a fan in front of yourself or use AC.................
2 hours of gameplay sucks.
True
Needed this video 2 years ago XD
Do not get the charging dock.
Reason 1: Controllers overheat when charging and this can be a serious safety concern
Reason 2: It only charges thhe controllers to 50% charge
Reason 3: The magnet on the quest 2 is really difficult to get off if you would like to use a link cable or a battery pack
Reason 4 (as stated in video): The dock will not work with anything other than the stock headstrap unless you have a lot of space behind the dock
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk
Dont use Anker use a diff one
I use the charging dock and mine doesn't overheat and Mine charges the controllers much more then 50% Edit: the magnet is hard to get off tho
Im getting this on my birthday or before for vrchat 😊
This was a great overview bro! Really helpful. I just received my alienware X17 R2. It was your review that pushed me over the line to buy it haha. Will that laptop be a good fit for VR? I got the 3080ti version
it's not only good it's a bit overkill for some titles
Thanks man! Oh yes. You’ve got one of the fastest. You’ll do great in VR with that laptop Lewis!
My laptop is not a gaming laptop not too slow and not too fast either would it still work as well?
Actually, you can use the charging dock with the trap because if your oculus gets very low, you could just plug the elite trap in
Love this review that covers all of the accessories. You've got our subscription
Thanks for this! I have an oculus quest 2 and I was wondering if you think I should get a computer for it.
0:37 that's what my mum told me

rich kids when theyre bored:
I've been wanting an oculus quest 2 for a long time, but even without having one, I watch these types of videos about quest 2 to be able to inform myself. I'm still hopeful that I'll have one!
Better buy soon. Meta is raising the price by $100 in August
Thank you this really helped me decide on what covering I should get for my oculus and weather or not to get an elite strap and an charging station
Good video, would recommend adding the price as a pop up throughout the video for each item for your viewers. Thank you for the review.
I liked this vid just for so many activities
I miss the oculus logo on startup 😭
SAME😭😭
I found this very helpful. Thank you!
Does the link cable work with mac? ive been wanting to buy a link cable but i’m not sure it can connect with mac
14:24 pause it first now why does it look like an adorable person

I am a new user to the oculus quest 2 and this really helps me
This is my first time watching this channel
not only is he reviewing products but he’s also giving us great advice “always use protection”
how do you use a link cable with the elite battery head strap at the same time
i use my glasses without the glasses extender and it feels the same snd alot more comfortable
this is going to help me pick the oculus accessories when i get my oculus.
This is very important because my favorite is the kiwi grip straps and ive always wanted that because it makes it a lot easier instead of making the diy version
I am a new Meta Quest user and I am wondering what product accessory I should buy first
Your channel seems extremely underrated for this quality of video.
Appreciate the video I'm getting this for my niece for Christmas and been doing research because I'm not a gamer nor know anything that isn't a Nintendo now I know what will work and not work for what her and My brother do with all there gadgets. Great video bro
I remember watching this being jealous af even though i was knew i was gonna get myself a quest two, back in march or February.. last year, i am now a proud quest 2 owner, and very happy with it
Now I've got all the gear to be jealous about😂
