    Im struggling with this right now. My symtoms have been switching from back pain, which I stopped caring about as much, and now its insomnia and sleep issues which is bugging me. Gotta do my best to just not get angry over it like I have been. I was so frustrated last night even though I knew that response would not help me.

    I had really bad insomnia after I had Covid. I realize now it was my belief about sleep. Once I stopped overthinking (took a couple months) sleep is natural eventually you will sleep. But the more you try to sleep it feels like a performance and the brain is scanning it like a scared child performing on stage. I still have sleepless night sometimes… it happens . The best way to move past it is to just accept that sometimes it happens

    Absolutely no sleep efforts, rules, rituals. Start with accepting what sleep you get. When hyperarousal is experienced, befriend it. This will rewire your brain. Don’t feed the fear by trying to push it away. Watch TV in bed, do the opposite. I suffered for 15 years with wrong thinking. But God used it all for good!!

    Great video, thank you Dan. Beautiful snow, very soothing. I don't have sleep problems, except that I sleep to much. I wonder if I am in the "rest and digest" (parasympathetic) state or is it the "distraction state"? I really don't know. I often want to sleep during the day even if I have slept 10 or 12 hours because of the fatigue. The pain I can handle, because certain days I don't have it anymore so I trust more, whereas the fatigue is constant. Any suggestions? And I love Dr. Joe Dispenza :-)

    Would you have come across TMS issues relating to cold and hot weather? In the last couple of years I have experienced unpleasant sensations from being out in cold weather (especially wind) and very hot weather. Great video. I can completely get on board with the reason for insomnia or waking with pain. But here’s where my doubt comes in... I have hip pain ( 1 leg shorter than the other from birth) , I wake up most nights with hip joint pain, it lessons as I move position or if I make my hip click. I’ve done the pain assessment and got 39. I mostly think the pain is TMS until the pain lessons when it clicks and then I think ‘ argh!!! My hip joint is rubbing my tendons, that’s why it hurts. This can’t be TMS”
    Can tms pain still make you have a bit of relief when you move position or pop your hip?
    X

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  3 года назад +6

      Lisa - Even Dr. Schubiner who is one of the top TMS medical doctors would say that we rule out anything life threatening. Being uncomfortable sleeping and feeling a click is not that. Then we rule IN this thing called TMS. If the characteristics of the pain, personality, pain history, stress indicates that it's TMS, then it's TMS. Case closed - end of investigation.
      Yes, it can still be TMS if you can do something physical and get a slight temporary relief. The cause is still TMS. The solution is a TMS approach. As long as you feel you have a physical problem with your body, the brain will continue to send pain to protect you from this supposedly "damaged" part of your body. It's false. The perception that there's a body problem is why the pain happens and persists.
      My approach is here. ruclips.net/video/3vJgBnrhFt8/видео.html

    Dan's right. I took everything to sleep. Meds. Pillows. Diet doctors even weird things like sleep with pillows between my legs. No socks. Yes socks ..q sock on and another one off lol everything. The medications used to make me look and feel like a zombie next day. It was bad. Real bad it caused my marriage to break. I had a big fear of not sleeping. That was 15 years ago. I've been sleeping like a baby ever since no matter if I had coffee or soda 1 minute before or if there is big time stress anxiety in my life.
    How I did it? I gave up ALL sleep meds diets , stop searching on the internet on sleep stuff, I just gave up. Didn't care anymore. Little by little I started sleeping. 2 hiurs....3 hours....5 hours...followed by a set back then all over again.. one thing I knew for sure...the fear was gone despite setbacks. Sleep like a baby. No matter what it can be done.
