    Hi Lewis, thanks man, that was great!
    As always, another quality vid, and yet again, very impressive riding mate!👌
    Ever since yr last post, I've been itching to see how you got on.
    I suspected you'd be quicker riding the mullet on those trails. That extra manuvrable rear works really well in tighter, more frequent turns. I think it's a case of Horses for courses.
    It'll be real interesting to see how you get on at Fort Bill.
    My guess is, when thing's get ruffer, faster, and fewer tight turns, and even pedaly sections the 29er may be a tad quicker. Less involvement with the terrain. I think it's also relative to rider stature, and range of movement regarding pumping the terrain.
    Anyways, we'll have to wait and see ay mate! Respect for making the effort to respond to people!
    Take care, have fun!🤙

    Hey Lewis, you mentionned shortly in your video that the braking felt different between both (rear) wheel sizes. I noticed the same thing going from a full 27.5 enduro bike to a full 29er enduro bike. Is there a way to get the brake feel the same on the full 29'er as it feels on a 27.5. I mostly miss the braking power running the big wheels compared to the 27.5. Even when I'm running the same brakes and rotor size. Does it involve maybe lowering tire pressure on the 29'er to get more grip while braking? Have you got any tips or feedback on that? Thanks man.

    How can you trust your tire so much ? I mean, when you are so agressive in an almost flat turn at high speed, it's just technique or you really trust your bike and tires ? It's the one of the hardest part of progressing for me, trusting tire and bike at the limit.

    • @LewisBuchanan
      @LewisBuchanan  4 года назад

      It is a mix. Tyre pressure you are comfy with, suspension that allows you to grip also and body position on the bike. Not too much weight on the front and not too much over the back, a good balance in the middle of ya bike is what I tend to go for

  • @imsundee
    @imsundee 4 года назад +1

      Balanced weight, not too much Over the front and not too much over the rear. Tyre pressure and suspension pressure set up so that you feel like it’ll give you the most grip possible. 👌🏽 pick ya braking points also. Braking mid corner will allow the wheels to step out and break traction! Try limit that

    How would it work woth taking spares is the reason i wouldnt run the mullet as you would have to take both tube sizes incase u flat. Thats my thought.

      @@LewisBuchanan get a stretchy 27.5 tube, should fit both in a pinch no problem. that or tubilito spares of both may fit in your downtube box?

    • @the_vids
      @the_vids 4 года назад

      Any 29 or 27,5 tube would fit in any of the wheel sizes. Even a 26 goes in. Running a mullet and have not changed any of the spares in the backpack. A spare tyre is a different story of course...

  • @Sadokist

    Also, I feel like you want to like the 29er more, but the mullet is faster so you're conflicted. I get the feeling you pick based on confidence and comfort at each round.

  • @kevinoloughlin5827

    Why not try the test on 2 track you don’t know like the back of your hand, see with setup works best. Allowing for wrong lines and mistakes. Which is going to happen on EWS. Feeling the mullet will let you recover from missing lines or if you have to fling it in last Second ,

      You can choose whatever size of wheel you like on the weekend. But yeah I’ll have a final choice on what I will run after fort William testing

  • @themagicillusions
    @themagicillusions 4 года назад

    I don’t think you should have seen what setup you were on. By knowing if you were on the mullet or full 29 you added a variable. I think you should have done a blind test to really see if one is better than the other and maybe more than one run on each for each track.

    • @LewisBuchanan
      @LewisBuchanan  4 года назад +3

      Well I could tell by the size of the wheel. So blind test wouldn’t have done anything. For fort William testing I won’t be allowed to see the time’s till after! Will be better I think

    A thought, would flatter tracks with more pedally sections be more advantageous for a smaller rear wheel or worse? Considering overcoming inertia vs rolling efficiency ..

Question your running a coil on a 130mm frame for ews..do you have it long shocked? Do you feel its enough travel for full race scienrios? Seems everyone is on LT 29ers... btw sick riding bro!
