As much as I love the team that I have already picked, I think it's wishful thinking that they're not gonna go by all around score. I don't know why they don't go by strategy and single apparatus scores instead. Anyway, my greatest hope is that Suni will perform even better on day 2 and at trials since she's not a lock yet.
Logically, (though they tout that only the AA champ is auto-lock) the 2 with the highest AA will be regarded as 1-2 on the team. I think 3-4, will be specialists with alternating app strengths, and the #5---consistent AA who can be plugged in to fill/sub. We are likely going to see some as alternates and non-traveling alternates ready for the call. It will be their most recent performances that determine their readiness.
It feels to me like right now it’s Simone AA, Shi AA, Suni UB/BB, Skye VT/BB?/UB?, and then it gets fun. We need to cover one more big hit on floor and also cover vault. Jade is an obvious contender, but I think others can surpass her technique. Joscelyn is still recovering, so will be interesting to see what she’s got. Ms. That Girl Chiles is always gonna be a sentimental favorite, and the HPT knows they can count on her to hit when it matters.
Skye is going to make a liar out of me, and I'm loving that for her. I'm excited for next squad, because it's looking like we're in good hands for #LA28
I agree, Kaliya’s floor score would max out the medal potential for the U.S but hopefully she can improve her scores on the other apparatus’s as well to improve her chances.
I think Simone, Shilese, Skye, Suni, and Kayla. I think LeAnne and Jade for alternates, which makes me feel so sorry for LeAnne in particular, but that's the way it's shaking out.
For me, in an ideal world (bubble wrap Shilese please USAG), Simone, Shilese, Suni, Skye make the team. Those four pretty much cover all of the events for TF. The fifth spot is going to be between Kayla, Leanne, Jade, and Jordan. Just based on yesterday, I think it's a Kayla vs. Jade situation as to who can add the most (Skye really messed with Jade's chances haha). Jade for me has the better chance though, just because she's opposite to Suni. Here are potential lineups I'd go with : VT : (Shilese) Jade, Skye, Simone UB : (Skye) Simone, Suni, Shilese BB : (Skye) Shilese, Simone, Suni FX : (Skye) Jade, Shilese, Simone (I think Jade should get the nod on floor for TF just because I know she can hit a solid 13.5+ even though her artistry is bad while Skye is harder to rely on to hit)
Perfect assessment and my sentiments exactly. With the US comfortably ahead after vault, they could afford to put Skye up on bars instead of Simone if they are looking to rest her.
I don’t have a lot of knowledge about scores and skills, just an avid fan here. Feel like throwing mine in just ‘cause. My prediction is Simone, Shilese, Kayla, Suni, then Jordan. I personally would have Skye over Jordan but I feel like the committee will go with Jordan because of her previous contributions to team USA (Again I really don’t know anything but wanted to throw this in for fun!)
Skye is gonna be a 50-50. I think if she hits everything, and I mean EVERYTHING from this point forward, then she will make the team. She’s got all the skills that would land her a spot on the team but the selection committee does not trust her to hit her routines consistently when put in a high pressure situation.
So why would they even bother to allow her to compete? I mean who can they 'trust to hit their routines consistently in high pressure situation' outside of Simone and Shilese? As long as Skye hits her CHENGS consistently then she would be on my team. The US needs to get back to their TRADITIONAL strength on vault. If it is no longer the the United States of Amanar then it should be encouraged to become the United States of Cheng.
@@aliciamcdonald7105 the cheng is gonna give her a huge edge no doubt, but I think her main event that she needs to hit on is beam, and in the last two world championships she fell in 2022 and was taken out last minute in team final 2023. That’s why I’m saying it seems like they don’t trust her to hit when it comes to international competition
@@ConnorD2604 Ok. But if you have a team that includes Simone, Shilese, and Suni why would you need Skye on beam? My view is, Simone, Jade and Skye's Chengs can give the US a very handsome lead after the first rotation and this will set the team up nicely. That lead could be further extended on bars to the point that even if Skye were to get up on beam and fall, the lead would be substantial enough to absorb it. Skye also has a decent bars routine that can sub in for Simone if resting Simone is something they are looking to do. So, however you look at it, Skye's Cheng opens up a whole lot of possibilities for Skye herself and for the team.
Skye gets visibly nervous at international events & has falls/major errors in both World Championships she’s been to. It’s unfortunate because obviously she can otherwise contribute so much to the team.
If what happened in the past is to be such a factor then why should they even bother to let Skye compete for a place? Why not at the same time give Simone a pass and tell her "don't bother to compete your spot on the team is already assured?" I mean why bother have these competitions at all if what you do NOW and over the next coming weeks is not the MOST relevant thing? It matters not what happened to Skye or ANYONE ELSE in the past even if that was just last year. Today is a NEW DAY and is she shows consistency over these last two meets then she SHOULD make the team especially now that she has a CHeng, a MUCH NEEDED Cheng I might add.
Simone, Shi, Suni and Jade are still it for me. Last spot will be between Kayla, Leanne, Jordan and Skye with alternates being selected from the ones who don’t make the cut (I forget if it’s up to 3 or just 2 still). Skyes vault looked great but between Simone, Jade and a solid DYT, it’s not super needed, especially with how much of a lead the US can gain with Suni/Shi bars, Suni/Simone beam and Simone/Jade floor in TF. Would rather have a more sure bet vs a wild card with potential more D but iffy hit rate.
It's a bit too early to say right now, but I think the team as of now is: Simone (lock), Shilese (lock), Suni, Skye, and Jordan -Suni needs her full bars difficulty. If she can bring it to Trials, she's a lock. -Skye needs to hit every single routine from here on to make the team. If she's inconsistent at all, I think they'll drop her and bring Kayla. -If Jade brings back her Amanar and full floor difficulty for Trials, she'll likely make it over Skye or Jordan. - Kayla is a great pick as well, but I have a feeling they'll give it to Jordan over her if Jordan remains consistent.
I think if jade wants to be part of the team she needs to stop holding back and unleash all the difficulty she is capable of doing. I get that they are pacing her but this is not the time to do that when all her competitors are raising their stocks. I’m still hesitant to take skye tbh, she needs to be consistent until the trials for her to be part of the team. I get that she has a cheng but her consistency is the issue with her not the talent.
Yes. She needs to bring it all to bear tonight. Despite the disillusionment that these judges and most people on here are under, neither Shilese, Kayla, Leanne or any other DTY performer is going to outscore Jade's Cheng internationally and her Cheng along with Skye's and Simone's will give the US the kind of lead that it USED to enjoy in times past after the first rotation. This will be VERY IMPORTANT for the team as the event goes along.
After both days at championships I would say the team of 5 has basically one spot left for grabs at trials: 1. SIMONE LOCK 2. Shilese lock if healthy 3. Skye Blakely lock if she HITS the cheng 2 more times at trials. Skye raises maximum start value with her vault alone AND you could put her up on all 4 events. + a very small chance at individual medal (balance beam) 4. Suni very likely if she hits bars and beam two more times at trials. You would never put Suni up for vault and floor anyway with Simone, Shilese, and Skye so if she just hits beam and bars I would say there’s no way they’re not taking the current Olympic AA champion. 5. This spot is the toss up, likely going to be an all arounder (see Tokyo 2020) likely going to need a strong vault and floor to cover that hole from Suni. I think Jade is most likely for this 5th spot as of right now because you WOULD put her up in vault over Shilese to get your 3rd cheng; however, her floor scores are scaring meeee they’re killing her E score domestically, which is why I think Jordan Chiles is actually just as likely. Jordan’s outscoring Jade on floor,,, by a lot at this point and her DTY is probably better than Shilese’s if not at least more consistent. If Jade upgrades floor and can score in the 14s finally I think she edges Jordan out. If Jordan has the trials of her life and Jade can’t break 14, I think Jordan edges Jade out. The one thing I’ll say for Jade is she has likely individual medal potential at vault EF and a redemption story that NBC has been pushing but you could also make the same argument for Skye at this point. I think Kayla and Leanne aren’t worth counting out but they would need to hit hit hit and both Jade and Jordan would need to fall
my team: Simone, Suni, Shilese, Skye, Jade VT: Simone/Skye/Jade UB: Simone/Suni/Shilese BB: Simone/Suni/Skye FX: Simone/Shilese/Jade i don’t think any of the all arounders (Jordan, Kayla, Leanne) are gonna make the team because the US alr has 2 (lowkey 3 including Skye) strong all arounders which makes room for a strong event specialist which is why i chose jade as the final spot because she has a cheng vault while all the others have x2 yurchenkos and she has upgrades for floor even tho jade was out scored on floor in us champs, when she puts in her upgrades then i think she’ll outscore
I’m thinking Simone and shilese are locks. Suni could easily be a top bar scorer Jordan chiles has been doing extremely well too. Final one maybe skye Blakey?
There are 3-6 of these women who are amazingly talented who just come up a little short in both AA and individual events. It feels like there’s really only a fight over the FX 3 and VT alt position. You *could* throw in Kayla or Leann to either, but it’s not a score you can build a lead with.
With how harshly beam specialists get judged internationally, it’s hard to believe her split leaps would even get credit. The beam score she received was a gift.
I just don't get it with Jocelyn's gymnastics and don't see her sniffing the team. People talk about how Jade's gymnastics lacks beauty but to me, Jocelyn is worse. If all of the usual suspects were healthy last year, or not taking time away for college, she doesn't make the World team. All I see are bent knees, flexed feet, lack of extension and lines, doesn't reach 180 degrees on split leaps. She's taller than Simone but her gymnastics makes her look much shorter. This is only my opinion, but there it is.
Why are people still stuck on jade? I think with skyes cheng, jades argument is dead, Amnar or not, Skye can contribute to more than one EF potentially. Jade is past her prime on floor. That said, I’d take Simone Shi Suni Skye and Kayla/Leanne. My heart would want Leanne and I think logistically she can contribute the most on floor, where they need it. FX: Simone, Leanne, Shi Bars: Suni, Shi, Skye Vault: Skye, Simone, Shi Beam: Simone, Skye, Suni
I think it all comes down to what Jade does on floor at trials. Supposedly she has multiple upgrades that she can put in to boost her D score. If she scores top 3 on floor, and higher than others who are ahead of her in the AA, she still has a decent claim to make the team. Her vault status is definitely threatened by Skye now that she has a usable Cheng but her chances aren't dead yet. As of right now I think the team is likely Simone, Shi, Suni, and then some combination of Jade, Skye or Kayla for the last two spots. I know people aren't too keen on Kayla because she doesn't have a standout event but she has had international success in the past, shown remarkable consistency recently and as we know from multiple instances in the last couple quads, last minute disasters can happen and a gymnast like Kayla is valuable because she can hop in anywhere if needed.
Leanne can NEVER outscore Jade on floor. Shilese nor Leanne never scored not even close to 14 on floor last year at the WC, what makes you all think that they could contribute a better score than Jade in Paris? I think you all are being FOOLED ONCE AGAIN by US judging.

None of these girls Dty's scored even mid 14's on the vault last year at the WC or Pan Games. Shilese's dty was among the LOWEST scored at the WC so don't be fooled they will NEVER outscore Jade's Cheng outside of the US.
@@aliciamcdonald7105 none of those gymnasts are in competition with Carey for a spot on the team. Their DTY is the minimum a gymnast on the team should be able to hit.
Won't the team for the Olympics be named after this meet though?
@@aliciamcdonald7105 the national team will be named.
@@aliciamcdonald7105 No, after trials in MN.
LOL! Not only you dear but she is going to make a liar out of sooo many people on here and yes I too am loving that for her.
Reserving judgment until the reported upgrades appear or fail to appear at trials.
Smart. By trials they'll be changes for sure! Still 4 weeks away.
I do think Kaliya is still in the conversation
How?
@@SquirtlePower809 her floor scores gives the US one of the highest scoring teams
I would switch Leeanne with Kayla.
Jordan is sooo good but bad falls on wrong timing. The clutch team is Simone, shilese, suni, jade, sky or Leanne
I like Jade because she never effs up in a Team competition, especially in her specialties.
Simone, shi, skye: AA
Suni lee: BB, UB
Kayla dicello/ Jade carey: VT, FX
For me, in an ideal world (bubble wrap Shilese please USAG), Simone, Shilese, Suni, Skye make the team. Those four pretty much cover all of the events for TF. The fifth spot is going to be between Kayla, Leanne, Jade, and Jordan. Just based on yesterday, I think it's a Kayla vs. Jade situation as to who can add the most (Skye really messed with Jade's chances haha). Jade for me has the better chance though, just because she's opposite to Suni. Here are potential lineups I'd go with :
VT : (Shilese) Jade, Skye, Simone
UB : (Skye) Simone, Suni, Shilese
BB : (Skye) Shilese, Simone, Suni
FX : (Skye) Jade, Shilese, Simone (I think Jade should get the nod on floor for TF just because I know she can hit a solid 13.5+ even though her artistry is bad while Skye is harder to rely on to hit)
I personally would have Skye over Jordan but I feel like the committee will go with Jordan because of her previous contributions to team USA
(Again I really don’t know anything but wanted to throw this in for fun!)
Ok. Even though I have not been following numbers my picks are Biles, Jones, Lee and Carey. BU Sky, Dicello. Let the competition begin ❤
It's a 5 person team this year.
Jordan Chiles 🥰
Lol Skye has a LOT to prove to be on that team.. one good day is nowhere near enough given her history
Nah, that Cheng changes everything for her. It really does.
@@sallygreenfield6991 ABSOLUTELY!
Skye gets visibly nervous at international events & has falls/major errors in both World Championships she’s been to. It’s unfortunate because obviously she can otherwise contribute so much to the team.
@@cunyc1 Doesnt matter. If she builds her confidence leading up, SKYES the limit.
It's a bit too early to say right now, but I think the team as of now is:
Simone (lock), Shilese (lock), Suni, Skye, and Jordan
-Suni needs her full bars difficulty.
Skye did herself a huge favor with this performance. For me it' Simone, Shilese, Skye, Suni and last place open for now
Simone, Shilese, Skye, Suni & Jordan
After both days at championships I would say the team of 5 has basically one spot left for grabs at trials:
1. SIMONE LOCK
2. Shilese lock if healthy
3. Skye Blakely lock if she HITS the cheng 2 more times at trials. Skye raises maximum start value with her vault alone AND you could put her up on all 4 events. + a very small chance at individual medal (balance beam)
Might be the most stacked team ever?
Simone, Shilese, Skye, Kayla and Suni with Leanne and Jordan as alternates.
Switchout Kayla with Jordan and I agree
@@SquirtlePower809 I like that too, I just think Kayla’s floor scores are always higher than Jordan’s.

KAYLA....

Suni is a lock.
Simone. Shilese. Jordan. Skye. Jade or Suni. Alt's: Tiana.Leanne.Kayla.Kaliya.
There is NO WAY they will leave Suni off the team unless she is so sick that she herself has given up on the quest.
my team: Simone, Suni, Shilese, Skye, Jade
VT: Simone/Skye/Jade
UB: Simone/Suni/Shilese
BB: Simone/Suni/Skye
FX: Simone/Shilese/Jade
i don’t think any of the all arounders (Jordan, Kayla, Leanne) are gonna make the team because the US alr has 2 (lowkey 3 including Skye) strong all arounders which makes room for a strong event specialist which is why i chose jade as the final spot because she has a cheng vault while all the others have x2 yurchenkos and she has upgrades for floor
even tho jade was out scored on floor in us champs, when she puts in her upgrades then i think she’ll outscore
I’m thinking Simone and shilese are locks. Suni could easily be a top bar scorer Jordan chiles has been doing extremely well too. Final one maybe skye Blakey?

I still wouldn’t count joscelyn out. But I think she will get alternate.
i love kayla fierce but not her gymnastics, she would add nothing to team, and leanne the the same
true
Agree. Her form leaves much to be desired.
I don’t think they will ever choose Leanne Wong over Kayla Dicello or Jordan chiles
FX: Simone, Leanne, Shi
Bars: Suni, Shi, Skye
Vault: Skye, Simone, Shi
Beam: Simone, Skye, Suni
Agreed. Jade is out.
Leanne can NEVER outscore Jade on floor. Shilese nor Leanne never scored not even close to 14 on floor last year at the WC, what makes you all think that they could contribute a better score than Jade in Paris? I think you all are being FOOLED ONCE AGAIN by US judging.
@@aliciamcdonald7105 Leanne has very much outscored jade on floor. Including last Olympic trials. Last years champs, and now. Also in both of their prime, jades hugest floor score internationally was. 14.3 at Tokyo and Leanne’s was a 14.1 at worlds in 2021 with tenths under jade in difficulty.
Jades time has come and gone on floor. With the new COP she doesn’t stand a chance. Her construction, artistry, poor leaps don’t stand a chance.
@@eliseperron1928 You have just restated my point, Leanne, Shilese and all these other ladies have only outscored Jade on floor IN THE US not internationally. They have NEVER gotten as close a score INTERNATIONALLY as they have gotten in US scoring and there is NO WAY, I repeat, NO WAY they will outscore her on floor internationally. Their 'artistry' could only carry them so far. Jade is not the most artistic for sure but even with bad choreography and poor artistry and poor tumbling form Sabrina Voinea scored 13.7 on floor at World last year and I am willing to bet anything Jade would have done better.
This talk about artistry this and artistry that has been said about Simone many times but in spite of that she has been able to win floor under EVERY NEW COP and will do so again despite not being the most artistic. You have to work to your strength and Jade's strength is tumbling and in the WHOLE OF WAG she is SECOND TO NONE except Simone.
No to DiCello. Nothing special
