What a nightmare. I feel bad for the reservation agents. I’m a travel coordinator and this whole situation has caused so much damage. Scary.
A Delta pilot sounded off on Reddit last night. They are very angry and frustrated on behalf of their passengers
Do you have a link? Would love to read
Unfortunately, there are MANY companies and organizations, inclusive of department stores, libraries, who do not properly invest in their IT infrastructure, as we have read in many reports and have seen on news broadcasts. As well, they don't hire the best IT professionals. Most especially, consumers in all forms are affected and inconvenienced by those with unsecured systems, unsecured data, low end software, no protection of servers, no proper software updates for security, etc. This whole situation is very disconcerting and shocking, to say the least.
You don't know what you're talking about. Crowdstrike is extremely expensive and cutting edge technology for system security. Or it was.
@@jameylane1591 If you read our comment carefully, we are not referencing CS. We are speaking of all the companies, department stores, corporations, libraries, small business, clinics, hospitals, and others who do not hire the best IT staff to secure and update their systems on normal daily basis, thus constant breaches, data leaks, identity thefts, etc.
I still don't understand how a person's luggage can fly home, but the person can't. Are they flying plane loads of luggage, but not people?
Bags can fly without passengers on domestic flights but not international so the bags likely are still making it!
@@damnimloomin I think the point is that the *airplane* is flying. If they can find a plane and a crew, why can't passengers also be on that flight?
I have been stuck in the Orange County airport trying to get back to Atlanta since sunday. Now when I'm about to get on a flight sitting here at the airport, I'm going to miss my connecting flight in Salt Lake city, and not make it back to Atlanta for another day because I'll be stuck in a different city. Delta is providing no help whatsoever. And it's going to cause me to miss cancer treatment for the second time. Delta is awful.
So sorry for you. I have cancer too. Good luck with everything. I repurchased a ticket on united and didn't have a problem. Buy a ticket on another airline and ask fir a refund with delta at a later time
See if there's an Amtrak route with any "roomettes" (Pullmans/second class) left, then hold Delta's feet to the fire and make them pay for it. It adds a day or two of travel, but it's actually kind of fun if you're not in a hurry - it's a road trip with meal service and a hot shower if you need it,, and the food is actually great. but you need the roomette because you want to sleep in an actual bed in private, not in the reclining seats in coach (although they are spaced widely enough that they are basically better than first class seats in planes nowadays)
What a stupid comment. Why dont you blame Microsoft, who caused the whole thing??
Today was a bit better for me at work as a check in agent. Slowly getting there. Hurry up tho Delta. Customers are lashing out at and we understand but gosh we’re humans.
I am a contractor tho so not a Delta employee.
CrowdStrike lawsuits will be epic.
For sure!
I keep hearing about passengers being delayed hours, then boarded for 3 hours, then deboarded, for a few more hours then informed flight canceled. Sounds like they are just pulling a fast one on passengers knowing flight is not gonna be happening. One lady said after all that they finally made the runway only to turn back because pilot had expired his time.
New regulations say they cannot keep people on the runway for more than three hours; they have to let them back into the terminal for bathroom breaks and food.
This after some nightmare flights where people were trapped on planes for nine hours with limited air-conditioning, no food and little to drink
@@ellenbryn I guess since you’re stuck at least it keeps you moving every few hours and gives you a little glimmer of hope.
This is exactly what happened. Then they expect for you to do a layover to be stuck again!!!! What a horrible experience.. Hope all get home safely..
Ya I’m sure they enjoy doing this. You have no clue what you’re talking about.
❤Thanks Microsoft, CrowdStrike and AI. All my prison records were expunged.
Have a connective flight via ATL tomorrow...Hope things are close to normal...All this surprises me. Been using Delta since 70s. Great service...Is this another case of CEO not having right background and focus...ie BOEING...
I strongly suspect Delta is going to raise their already excessively overpriced tickets and make the new costumers pay for the refunds.
Pilots are not doing it for free I'm sure. They are going to get $$$. CEO and CFO didn't do their jobs to prepare. They do not want to invest in IT, better seats, training etc.. they just want to line shareholders pockets.
Edit: it seems some people were not understanding my sarcasm regarding the reporting...I get it! I would not do it for free either!
It might not just IT though, from the way they're still having trouble now I suspect their JIT(Just In Time) policy has little or no slack. JIT means less waste and more profits when things go right. The tighter the schedule, the more cost savings. But when things go wrong, everything goes to hell in a hand basket and recovery is hard.
I sure as hell wouldn’t do it for free! Im gone get PAYED!🤓✌🏻🍻
Delta the worst Airlines, I’d rather spend my American $$$$ and go to Europe than to fly in the U.S. I can jump on JetBlue fly to JFK and off to Europe, cheaper than flying to West Coast or other Cities in the U.S. secretary, Pete, you need to fix this problem.
They do not want to invest in their IT? Yet their IT is better than every other American airline and is one of the best amongst airlines globally? The reason SW was unaffected is because their systems are outdated. OLD SYSTEMS. Get that into your head bud. Time to start using that brain of yours.
It's all premium pay at the contractual rate. Nobody is picking up extra work without being paid EXTRA. If a normal trip is worth 10 hrs, people won't pick it up until it's worth at least 15-20 hrs pay.
IT investment will (negatively) affect executive bonuses.
It looks like a "lot of bags", but that might be a single flight. 45,000+ flights per day just in the US.
Maybe if we had a third travel option….like adequate passenger rail, then this wouldn’t have been such an issue
we went on vacation on Friday with the Delta. Instead of that we spent the whole day in the airport, staying the line trying to rearrange and rebook our flight then change resort days the Delta rebooked us on Sunday when we arrived on Sunday the flight was canceled. Then they rebooked us on Monday. Then I said the 3d time is not gonna happen. Today is a Wednesday and we still on the phone call mostly on the hold, listening that ugly music trying to get a refund for our nightmare vacation.:-/
Just an FYI. AA and UA made massive investments into their IT and IT security after the SWA meltdown. They took that as a cautionary tale. They did NOT want that to happen to them. AA enabled their DR plans and business continuity and was 100% recovered by Friday night resuming normal operations Sat morning. UA recovered by Sat morning resuming a normal schedule by Sat afternoon. Delta FINALLY recovered Wed afternoon, resuming a mostly normal operation today, Thursday. CS might have cause this, but this is 100% on Delta lack of investment in IT and lack of US based IT. They have outsourced a good chunk of it to countries they don't even fly too.
Delta needs to get those 1984 Commodore 64 like Southwest uses.
They cheaped out and went with the VIC 20
@@jameylane1591 LOL!
Corporate greed these CEO"s don't care they're going to collect their hefty bonus packages they're not about creating a better and more safe working environment they are about cutting cost and driving the stock price up.
Good Job Delta! Have fun in Federal Court! Such a disaster even MSP the #1 Mega airport could not get past it.
😂 Buenas noches saludos a todos ustedes y me gusta mucho el trabajo
New contract time. Working their days off. 450 dollars an hour. Yesssss😜
Who is holding Microsoft accountable?
It's not Microsoft Goober.
It's technically not their fault at all. Its Crowdstrike's software that is essentially told to boot when windows does and there was an update issue on Crowdstrike's side that breaks their software, and then in turn, windows locks up as a fail safe
Delta Airlines is the new Southwest Airlines
Investigation? Crowdstrike bricked everyone's computer. Not cool.
What happened to, if you don’t Fly your bags Don’t Fly!
Just stick with spirit, where you belong. You can stop at Walmart on your way to your spirit flight, and get some pjs to wear on the flight.
So now where getting mad at Delta for someone else’s problem 😐 are they going to have to pay millions just like Southwest did in the winter for a similar issue if not, that’s just messed up
Haven't invested in IT but Delta sure as hell invested in DEI.
Nightmare
Kyle is very zesty
Delta is worse than Southwest and Spirit?
Someone fucked up
Called a virus kids
Delta is a joke. They need to get there act together. DOT is most likey going to fine them.
I don’t blame crews for not stepping up to help. They don’t get a bail out by using and abusing their crews. This is Karma for their response to two flight attendants being harassed by passengers and Delta for wearing pro Palestine pins. I am glad they are getting humbled and fined
Is anyone investigating if there are minors stranded alone on any airports because of this ?
Perhaps Delta Alaska and Southwest should all merge into one shit airline
Profit in managements pocket rather than keeping up their I T system. Do not fly delta
