Favorite Eagles song? "I Can't Tell You Why." It's simple and direct, and it explains so many reasons we sometimes do things. We do things "just because," and "I can't tell you why" we do them.
Yes, it was an entertaining read. But I was always aware I was hearing one side of the story. Felder got the songwriting credits he deserves and was a full bad member. Even Joe Walsh has never been a full member. I never saw him as a victim.
@@WilliamHerlihy-p4g - You're not a "full band member" when other band members are spending millions of dollars on themselves that was taken from the "Eagles, Ltd" corporation (owned by Frey, Henley, and FELDER), and you get fired for demanding to know where YOUR money is being spent. Felder was fired for daring to question them. Randy Meisner quit because of Frey. Bernie Leadon quit because of Frey. Henley and Frey were maniacal ego-driven thugs, in concert with the equally-crooked poison dwarf manager Irving Azoff.... every one of them stabbed Don Felder in the back. The world is a better place without Glenn Frey in it.
@@broeheemed32 Wow, I'd admire your passion if you were right, but you've got your panties in a twist and you're just plain wrong. Felder was lucky to be an Eagle.
My first concert was on my dads shoulders in the brand new at the time Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit circa 1977 during their Hotel California tour. I was just six at the time. Some of my first and best memories actually.😊❤
What just sticks in my memory of the Eagles is how Glen Frey & Don Henley stole (or tried to steal) music from Don Felder. I was a big fan of the Eagles, then I learned about this.
Terribly sad still about Glenn's passing. However, modern technology permits us to still enjoy the music of The Eagles. From the same era....Tequila Sunrise and Best Of My Love......two songwriting gems.
What can you say about the eagles that hasn’t already been said , songs stay with you forever & always remind you off something that happened in your life ! RIP glen frey & don Henley outstanding 👏👏
I think it’s because their best songs are rooted in the folk tradition of telling a good story in a beautiful and harmonious way, that people can relate to and sing along with. It makes them last.
People lose their minds for 40-50 years over singers that shoot themselves, or overdose. But people that keep it together, live a respectable life, and put out new music for 40 years, meh....
I love the Eagles. I saw them live when I was young. Hotel California is a great song. They’re other albums we’re good as well. The more country songs like lying Eyes.
WE miss him terribly! I still love The Eagles! I always will; saw/heard 'em twice. I even volunteered backstage at a Jackson Browne show honoring the late Bill Graham at Golden Gate Park; S.F. Please urge famous people not to travel RECKLESSLY! Duh! * Cav *
Glenn Frey treated people like sh$t and so did Don Henley. They made good music but weren't good people. The worst part is they never tried to make amends... I love when people die and people all the sudden put a Halo over their head.... Frey could of actually been more of a jerk-off than Don Henley.
Did you ever consider that maybe Felder and Meisner were not the easiest to get along with either. Drunks and drug addicts the lot of them. No way they were going to ever have a normal discussion about anything. Probably all quick tempered and each wanted their own way. I think with Frey and Henley they each had an ear for who would be the best one to sing each of the songs and that was fine. Lying Eyes will always be Glenn's. Desperado will always be Don's. Felder wanted more lead vocals and probably wasn't happy. You want to sing lead, go form your own band and do it but you can't expect to come in and push your way to the front in an already well-established band. I loved them up till about 1976 and still love all those albums. Hotel California was the first one I didn't really like most of. The Long Run, less said the better. I think Felder came along and wanted to change the style that had worked so well for so long. Meisner was moaning because he didn't want to have to sing his party piece every show. He wanted to leave because he didn't like the touring. What did he think was going to be involved when he was in a successful band that became so huge? Also, the thing about the money - there are lots of bands where not everyone has equal status within the unit. Henley and Frey wrote most of the songs, or wrote in collaboration with people like Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther. When Bernie left they probably didn't want to bring someone else in as a full equal partner until they knew it was going to work out. That's not being terrible that's being sensible. Look at Bon Jovi. The record contract was with Jon, not the band as an entity. So basically the others worked for him. He was the boss. That may have changed when the ditched management and decided to manage themselves later.
Yeah really, Henley was and is a piece of work. Girl was naked and they'd been doing coke and quaaludes. She overdosed and paramedics called the police - the girl was a 16 year old prostitute.

I have always sorta held a grudge against both Henley and Frey for the way they seemed to "Pressure cook" the rest of their EQUALLY TALENTED, ORIGINAL band members, until they just couldn't take it any more and left, (Randy Meisner in particular, whose vocals on "Take it to the Limit" were so amazingly unique that NO ONE could or EVER will replicate them !) But Frey and Henley just seemed to think that the accolades AND the majority of the MONEY for what they produced, AS A GROUP, belonged to them alone ....and everybody else was just some low life "Hired Hand" ! ! !
