My niece had a very positive experience at UC Santa Cruz. She went on to UCSF. She still meets her roommates for vacations. She became a physical therapist.
Okay first big lie of this video, There is NO BUS that goes to the top of Crown during the academic year period. You will walk from the main road UP the steepest hill on campus to get to Crown or Merril. The bus service is only provided to parents and prospective freshman for tours and appearances, it is not part of the regular metro service of UCSC. Do not be fooled, I am a senior nearing graduation and I have walked literally the bottom of the East Remote lot to Merril HUNDREDS of times. My ability to traverse steep inclines has become Godly, and only foolish Freshman dare challenge my might.
Time goes by fast all the students that attend during this video are gone! Frosh at this time would have granted as seniors 2019 or seniors in 2020! Wow
Some of the colleges have interesting archetecture that somewhat celebrate the unusual environment there. The campus is half in and half out of a redwood forest and a good part of the rest has a wonderful view of the bay. However, the committees that be, really didn't bother with most buildings just as they didn't give real names to the colleges. I don't know as the founders expected there to be a College VIII. And that it would be one pale gray concrete slab with rooms and some small windows. The professors, just the same. Some outstanding professors, and a good many that don't bother to do much of anything. History professors just recite the same dull lecture and assign the same, expensive, dull text books. When you find you are in a class where the books are better than the professor, run. No kidding. Don't reward these people for their laziness. Those that have been at UCSC for more than 2 years, you know what I mean. But make a point to at least visit the large lecture halls with the best of the best professors that have made great names for themselves in their fields. Sit at the back for science classes if there is room. Yes, you aren't supposed to.. but do it then take the class in earnest. It works out well to study the books a year before you take the actual class anyway. A way to get perfect scores in science, math, history, economics and more. The fact that that's even possible is the price of admission in itself. Make a point to enjoy every moment you can, you don't get these years back.
No, I'd rather remember what UCSC was like when I was there daily and walked the ground. I have returned to Santa Cruz County to discover new cave entrances and share any exploring with the National Speleological Society membership.
Graduated in '82 when a realistic Banana Slug would slowly cross an athletic field with plastic wrap trailing behind. This Sammy is a horrible replacement. There were some terrific professors, and some of the worst. Shop for your professors with care. And get to know the librarians. They can make your experience so very much more pleasant and productive. It can mean the differenced from getting the best out of your stay and continuing to get your PhD with ease. That's right. Know your library and be known by name by at least 2 librarians. A term paper that would have taken a week can be shortened to a day.
yup wherever one goes it all about finding the good professors ...people dont remember what the classrooms looke d like really they remember the professors!
School looks really old I think some places of the video the wall paint seemed to be peeling and althought scenery is beautiful i don't want to hike all the way to my classes
its deceiving ly easy to get to most classes...yes some of the buildings are older..its gorgeous in the middle of a redwood forest with a view of the Monterey bay and the city of santa cruz below the campus!!
Live in CA but my UK friends were joking about UC SC questionnaire My answer to one was I am feminine, but my' expression" is like my doggie Tuggy. BTW new California law in the making: You can now marry your doggie or parrot! Yes! Love California - I always wanted to marry my doggie!

Thanks, but your camera work was shakier than Haiti
Might be time for an updated tour? Using drones and communications majors as hosts? Just a thought
I really wanna go there for some reason but idk if there’s a good mes school there or not
If the rankings were higher it would have been a top choice. The campus is just amazing to walk through. Seriously beautiful.
Can't thank you enough for the video. Do you have other videos touring the other residential colleges?
