A new video from Cecilia is the highlight of my Saturday 🥹 The journey of the brass faucet truly reflects how passionate you are about creating beautiful, meaningful spaces. I love it! Thank you for being so honest about how long these types of projects take in the French countryside. I feel like in this digital world, we have this false notion that everything is fast and easy, which is not the case and leads us to becoming extremely inpatient. All beautiful things take time!
Wow, thank you! I can't help myself, once I visualize something in my head, I became possessed and have to try my super best to "scratch the itch" :) and it is true, projects take time, specially the inspired ones, and they take phases, they magic comes in between those pauses. I'll probably talk one day all about it, because it is fun to see the magic show up. My intention on this platform is to have fun and spread lots of joy and connect with myself and others doing things that we all love :) Thank you for the sweet comment, you are super appreciated!
I live in the UK and I’m from Czechia. In both of these countries it’s a polite thing to offer a tea or coffee to contractors. My mum would even make them lunch! 😂 However, I have never heard of contractors asking for coffee. That’s so funny. They probably see your beautiful coffee machine and can’t resist. 😄
@@diannediamond8643 I agree, that they don't ask in the USA. Instead they come to work with a Starbucks coffee--or a coffee from Dunkin" Donuts, Dutch Brother, or from a local drive-through--in a paper cup with a plastic lid that they pick up on the way.
I thought the kitchen was all done--it looks fantastic and together--and then Cecilia announces hopes of what she will still do to complete the kitchen. 😲 Love the openness created to better enjoy the view of that gorgeous patio and garden. 💚
You’ve done a beautiful job so far and I can’t wait to see the finished space. I love your explanation of why your environment is so important to you, it all makes sense.
I love your style and your spirit. Thank you for taking us on your journey with you. You're a delight to watch and learn from. Wishing you all the best.🙂
In Europe and especially in the Balkans, when someone enters your house, even if it's a repairer, we always offer water, coffee or tea . Otherwise you are considered very rude. These are good old customs that we managed to preserve. ❤😊
Thank you for sharing :) and I do like good manners and kindness, in fact I do practice all that, but in some circumstances when a person comes do a measurement for 15 minutes it is a bit strange that they ask for coffee, specially when we didn't even had a friendly interaction. Thank you for your comment and your support!

I am in awe of your work on this beautiful kitchen renovation. It's refreshing not to see a large kitchen island plopped in the middle of the room; instead, your round table is perfect.
Thank you so much! yes, I love the space to move around and I have just the perfect amount of flat surface to work and enjoy the kitchen :) Thank you for the kind comment and support!!!
I have been following your son and husband since he launched. I love that you came to Europe, found what fit for you and found an amazing home. Your eye to detail is very inspirational. I’m excited to see what you will do next. I am 1 years from retirement and planning on moving out of the USA. I too feel like after traveling the world , I don’t really connect with the lifestyle in the USA. Seeing your home makes me think about France country side as an option. You’re just a doll! I am thrilled for you.
OMG, you are so sweet! Thank you so much for following our journey, it truly has been a life changing experience. Nothing can fully prepare you for what’s ahead, but if you embrace the ride, it will be incredible. Take your time, because it can be overwhelming, and make sure to check in with yourself often. Let the magic unfold and surprise you, because it absolutely will. And when those challenging moments arise (because they will), see them as opportunities for growth and soul deep learning. Thank you for the support, and much love back to you ❤️
That faucet is just gorgeous!!! You must be so proud of how you were able to make it happen, when others said it couldn't! Bravo!!! You kitchen is so beautiful!!!
Ha ha, yeah I could not let that one go, I had to convince my husband (it wasn't too hard luckily) that it was worth all the hassle, and when it arrived it was thrilling!!!! I adore that faucet so much, it gets "used and abuse" and always looks gorgeous to my eyes. I am so grateful I found it and that you all appreciate it as much as I do. Thank you for the support and kind comment!!!!
6:32 Ordering the just-right faucet from Italy via New Zealand makes perfect sense to me! 😄 8:52 and 0:32 It took me years to recognize how much my environment affects me, and even longer to prioritize making it beautiful as a form of self-care and cultivating *JOY!* 😃 A non-artist friend once laughed at me for saying I feel tortured by certain ugly things that can't be changed in my apartment. But to me it really does feel like being constantly buzzed by a mosquito. Conversely, GOOD interior design plucks the same chords in me as the most beautiful fine art, music, or sublime natural view. Why NOT create that experience for yourself in your own home, especially with the things you interact with daily?! 😻 *Thank you for sharing your delightful and delightED approach to interior design!* 😄❤
Haha, you totally get me! I love it, we're in sync. I’m so lucky that my husband understands how much this impacts me, even though visuals don’t bother him like they do me. For him, it's sound that’s a trigger. The two of us are very sensitive, so we've learned what matters to each of us and always do our best to honor those needs. I love how you called it an act of self-care; I totally agree. The more we take care of ourselves, the better we can show up in the world! Thank you so much for your kind and wonderful comment, I truly appreciate you!
I lived in Upstate NY and I made friends with a Mennonite who owned a quilt shop. She told me each quilt has an intentional imperfection because only God is perfect..Your kitchen is amazing.
Wow! You did your own tile work! You are so proactive and inspiring! I love how you say "Phase 1". I did my kitchen in NYC...a rental btw...a few years ago. Now my husband and I are retired and enjoying it so much as rarely eat out. We are older than you guys so WE ARE DONE! But I see you and say go for it! Can't wait for phase 2! xo
Thank you so much! 😊 I won’t lie, there are definitely days when I question my sanity, but then I remind myself, I just can’t help it! Thank you so much for your support!!!
Cecilia you are a beautiful artist. You are absolutely correct when you talked about having your vision. You kitchen is so beautiful and peaceful, but most of all it is a work of art. Thank you for sharing your art ❤❤
Thank you for sharing the process involved in transforming your kitchen into a serene and inspirational space. You've created a beautiful and inviting kitchen.
yay! for your beautiful, brass, vintage faucet! Totally get why this piece was a priority for your kitchen and worth the hassle and the price. I understand what you mean...aesthetically perfect :)
Me encanta ver que toda la familia ahora tiene su propio canal! Los veo a todos y me siento como en familia cuando veo los videos. Saludos de una Colombiana viviendo en California
Thank you so much, and yes, which can get me in trouble sometimes 😁, but yes I love creating a warm home, it does help my spiritual work. I super appreciate your comment and kindness :)
Hello from Marin County, north of San Francisco! Thank you for sharing all your trials and tribulations as well as your creative process. I love your decisions and now I have more ideas to explore for my own home transformation.
Hi Cecilia, you are a great storyteller. The kitchen is looking fabulous. You are so brave to tackle that backsplash but it looks amazing. All the changes are great. Looking forward to continue watching the progress.
There is such joy and pleasure in creating a nest, that space we love to call home, where details have been carefully considered and searched for ultimately revealing the things that are important to us. It is a creative process that I think for some is as innate and necessary as breathing. I understand for example, the pursuit of that one single faucet, as being the only one that would do. I also share your same philosophy about the importance of living in a space that feeds your soul and that inspires in many ways. It's a feeling I like to call 'soul-good'. I am enjoying your creative journey with your new home, especially since I am also renovating a new nest. As a Canadian expat who has been living in Switzerland for a couple of decades now, watching you settle into a new country with the challenges of a new language and culture, brings back a few memories. By the way, to this day, I still have not gotten used to the generally smaller fridges in Europe. Your home is beautifully welcoming and warm and charming, and I look forward to your updates.
Awww, that’s amazing! I truly hope everything turns out even better than you’ve dreamed. Just remember, when you’re in the thick of the remodel and everything feels chaotic, with your makeshift kitchen driving you crazy, it will all be worth it in the end! I promise :) Thank you for the support and kind comment, and I wish you a wonderful experience with the remodel!
I am loving these videos and the fact that you are so real about the difficulties, rewards and risks of a remodel is so refreshing. I look forward to these videos and have plans to “steal” a few of your kitchen ideas!
Your design style is spectacular- so clean yet filled with pulse quickening detail. And your childlike enthusiasm and story telling is wonderfully entertaining. Gorgeous kitchen. Very fun presentation. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to share.
Absolutely adore you aesthetic and the explanation of what home is for you. Our daily lives are art 👌 I had to chuckle that the faucet had to come from my country New Zealand 🇳🇿 I’m enjoying your journey and home.
Thank you so much! You're incredibly kind! I know, I couldn't believe it either, I felt so strange getting it all the way from New Zealand when it's made right here in Europe. But I just couldn't find the raw brass version here. I'm glad you had a good laugh; I do now too, though at the time, I was going a bit crazy. Thanks again for your support!
So good to see you again Cecilia. The Kitchen looks perfect. I love the flowers and the rug is beautiful. Thank you for sharing some of your new life in France with us. Love from an elderly Dutch woman in California. ❤❤❤
the "I've never done it before but I'll go for it" mindset (when you mentioned making the wooden thingie) is everything💜 thank you for encouriging us to keep trying new things and to be creative🙏
I'm very inspired by your approach to creativity and I apreciate you talking about intuition and following your impulses. To me, you seem like an embodiment of an artist. I study theatre and I remember a lecture by an artist, a painter and sculpturer, who was laking about cultivating our sensitivity - you are showing how to cultivate, cherish and live the sensitivity in everyday life. I'm so happy you decided to start this channel!
Aww, what a beautiful comment. I can’t imagine my life without intuition, without tapping into that amazing flow of energy where time fades away, and exhaustion doesn’t exist, just pure bliss. Of course, it’s not like that all the time, but I strive to live in that space as much as I possibly can. I'll try to share more about that and the process in search of that, sometimes it is a struggle, sometimes we overthink things, sometimes it is magic. I super appreciate the comment and the support!!! Much love back to you :)
"This is my favorite tile..." =) Also loved "It's like me, a little wonky!" haha What a gift you have to be able to know and visualise what you want and then make it real while adjusting to the surprises a renovation brings.
Ha ha ha, thank you so much!!! you are so kind!!! yeah the camera could not pick up the little extra imperfection of the tile :) I just love it, it has so much character. Thank you for the comment and support!!! More to come :)
Love your kitchen!! It’s beautiful as well as so light and airy. I cook A LOT also and I agree about needing the right aesthetics for you to feel comfortable. Love the marble countertops and the brass tap and handles! It’s really impressive watching you do all of this, especially in a foreign country. Look forward to your next video😊
Awwww, thank you, yes!!!! not easy to do all of this in a new country with limited language, but slowly we are accomplishing it :) Thank you so much for your support!!! I super appreciate the love!
I love watching you share and explain everything. I smile, I giggle and I am amazed at your talent. You add such nice touches and its things that I would never think of! Congrats on your success here with your videos and the beautiful home you are creating. 🙂
Thank you so much! you are so kind!!! what a loving comment, I am glad I gave you some new ideas, would love to hear about them one day if you feel like sharing them with me :) Thank you so much for the support!
I’m surprised the French dealers wouldn’t order the unlacquered brass for you! It is stunning! I agree with you that beauty should not be compromised. I just gut renovated my bathroom and so happy with the results!
To be honest, it became complicated and frustrating, people not getting back to me and when I found a person by the time I call back they were on vacation for weeks. I would be told that the item was not available, etc. But in the end I got it and I feel happy :) Thank you for watching :)
Good morning. I just came across your channel this morning, and subscribed after watching your latest video. A lot of what you said resonates with me, “living in an environment that feeds your soul is very important”. We live in California, and spend the summer months in the Azores. Portuguese heritage with a touch of a French soul 😉 I like your style and look forward to your future videos. Merci Cecilia
OMG, thank you so much!!! you are so sweet! When we moved to Europe, we started with the idea of living In Portugal, then we pivoted to France, my husband documented it all in his channel, here is the link if you get curious, www.youtube.com/@BeneaththeSurfaceYT Thank you so much for the kind comment! and for following my channel, I super appreciate it.
Ha ha ha, I didn't want to bore you all, and I don't do all the crazy hyper perfect organization trending in social media. I just like thing orderly but not necessary perfect, just practical. Thank you for the support!!!
Thanks so much! 😊 I am giving a little sneak peek of my creations, for when I get the proper visa where I can re open my shop :) Thank you, yes, I love things organized in pretty jars whenever possible :)
Soooo gorgeous! The orchid tile is perfection-thank you for sharing. We just built our home and the kitchen is tough! My favorite feature is the wood hood built by my other half - he added vertical plate storage & it’s so practical & beautiful.
Hi Cecilia, You are doing such a great job. Liked the frase "roll with the surprises", I think all of us have that after we bought a house, because in the first, second or third viewing you don't get to explore deeply☺ . You have wonderful ideas and very creative. You opened the kitchen hutch, I was pleasantly surprised by the uniformity of the jars with coordinating lids. By the way beautiful 'orquidea'. At the fridge you mentioned "my biggest challenge" I noticed that in France and some other countries in Europe they use that kind of measurements for fridges, long and small, not my taste. I enjoy and am learning from your videos, thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for the sweet comment, you are so thoughtful and you are so correct, the fridges here tend to be narrow and very tall, and like you prefer the fridges like in the US, but I will keep working on finding a solution. Thank you so much for the support and the love :)
Cecilia you are amazing! The kitchen looks stunning! I love how you use glass containers to store bread - so creative! Looking forward to your next video 🤩 also please pleasee share all these small interior tips and creative solutions you find useful to store food\small items\clothes\tools\art supplies etc.
Thanks so much! 😊 !!! You are so sweet!!! lots of videos coming, where I will cover lots of topics, so stay tuned :) Thank you so much for the support!!!
Hi Cecilia, I have been following you and your husband's journey for a long time now and am so excited about your new home! What a lovely new channel you have, I will be watching it with great interest. I think you have the midas touch! Enjoy your home and new lifestyle. We also emmigrated five years ago from South Africa and now live in the Netherlands. I just love exploring the old and the new! Listening to your husband speak about your big move and search for your new home was very touching, interesting and I could so relate! You are both such inspiring people and an amazing couple!
Wow, what a kind and thoughtful comment! Thank you so much for your support, it truly means a lot. You made a great choice, The Netherlands is absolutely stunning! We recently visited and fell in love with it, and we’re already planning to go back. I’ll be sharing a video about the trip at some point in the future, so stay tuned! Congratulations again on your move five years ago! You’re way ahead of us and probably fully enjoying life in Europe by now. We’re still working on getting everything in order here, but we know it takes time. Looking forward to reaching that settled feeling, just like you! Thanks again for your kind words!
Exquisite & Very Tasteful. For the Fridge area do away with the old one, take away that fridge and build shelves on that space or add a built-in induction counter top, then identify another space altogether for the type of modern fridge you want to install and work-up a new space with cabinets for it.
Thank you so much for the suggestion, unfortunately, I don't have any other spot for it, trust me I tried, I really tried. Great thinking though :) I super appreciate the support!!!
This home is gorgeous with inspiring natural views. The perfect choice for artists! C'est enrichissant de vivre à la française, avec des fleurs embaumées dans un endroit bien aimé. 🌼🏠🥖☕🎨
Beautiful! And thank you for showing the small miscalculation with your tile backsplash, to help remind me that small errors are okay, and acceptance is key - it doesn't take away from the beauty of the space.
Thank you so much for your kind comment, it really came naturally, and of course I want to share it all, the wins and the lessons. The process is always, a bit hard, a ton of fun, never perfect but rewarding :) I super appreciate the support!
Oh my gosh I cracked up when you said that the contractors show up and the first thing they ask is... "Can I have coffee?" lol! I agree with having an amazing kitchen faucet...I am not thrilled with mine and would change it in a minute! But alas, we were living on the East Coast of Canada and moving to the West Coast during the pandemic, so we got what we got. Love the faucet you selected - it's lovely! Can't wait to see how you finish the hood and fridge areas...I'm sure it's going to be great! Thanks for sharing your adventures! I'm am loving your channel! :) Cheers from British Columbia! :)
Thank you again! You're so kind to say such lovely things, and I’m glad you got a good laugh out of it. Having a good faucet is essential! We use it all the time, so it has to be strong and practical, plus gorgeous, of course. Maybe in the future, you'll find the perfect piece to match your needs and aesthetics and make the switch! Thank you so much for the support!!! and thank you for watching :) More to come :)
¡Aww, qué comentario tan lindo, sos re amable! Voy a hacer un video de un día en mi vida y voy a compartir algunas de mis propias recetas :) ¡Muchísimas gracias por el apoyo y los hermosos elogios!
Such a beautiful kitchen. I see the drawers so stylish, and the size with color, assuming the color is black chalked painted, which nicely fits with the counter top and tiles, and the brass faucet is a piece of art in the middle, to add different dimension to the kitchen overall. Thank you for sharing all the nice work.
Thank you so much!!!! You are so kind with your comment!!! The cabinets and drawers are matt black, they worked very nicely with the marble and brass. Thank you so much for your support!!!!
Honestly I thought the original kitchen was fine. BUT…now that you’ve explaining your reasonings in this video I completely understand! The almost finished product is fabulous!! The kitchen really reflects the light and invites everyone to look at the beautiful courtyard. Totally agree with the faucet being one’s most important kitchen feature. Is there any way to remove the interior wall next to the fridge?
Thank you so much! yeah the changes feel better to us, we love being here. And I am so glad you agree with the faucet, I find that people sometimes end up going with faucets that don't last and look basic when it is the most used and abuse item in any kitchen :) and it can be such a great sculptural statement :) Unfortunately, because it is a support wall, we can't mess with it without creating a BIG expensive project, so I have to come up with a clever solution. I'll take my time to solve it, as I want it to be long lasting and pretty, so stay tuned :) Thank you for the warm and kind comment :)
Me encantó el vídeo! Ur smile and passion for life makes me happy! I love what you said about making your home reflect your soul because it feeds you back 💯 and how you love to cook because it’s the way you express love 💯 agree! Looking forward to your journey in France 🇫🇷 Saludos!

Wow, what a wonderful comment, we get each other in so many levels. Thank you so much for the support and kind words!!!
It looks gorgeous! It’s giving me inspiration for whenever I finally get around to remodeling my kitchen
Thank you so much! I am super appreciative of the kind comment!! steal away!!! I am flattered 😊
Cecilia, love your positive energy! Great video!
Thank you so much! You are so kind!!!
Keep these videos coming!!!
Thank you! 😘 ❤️
Your design style is spectacular- so clean yet filled with pulse quickening detail. And your childlike enthusiasm and story telling is wonderfully entertaining. Gorgeous kitchen. Very fun presentation. Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to share.
Thank you so much! What a loving kind comment!! I super appreciate it! Much love back to you ❤️
Absolutely adore you aesthetic and the explanation of what home is for you.
Thank you so much! what a lovely comment!!! wishing you much love back ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
the "I've never done it before but I'll go for it" mindset (when you mentioned making the wooden thingie) is everything💜 thank you for encouriging us to keep trying new things and to be creative🙏
Ha ha ha, yes always getting in trouble but somehow it works out :) Thank you so much for the kind words :)
So inspired! Thank you.
You are so kind!!! thank you so much!!!
I could not stop laughing about the faucet scavenger hunt! 😂 You were persistent and it paid off! The kitchen came out gorgeous! ♥️
Thanks so much!! yeah crazy bananas :) thank you so much for watching :) and the support!!!

Thank you for the details and talking about your process! Looks gorgeous!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the loving comment!
Good morning.
I just came across your channel this morning, and subscribed after watching your latest video.
A lot of what you said resonates with me, “living in an environment that feeds your soul is very important”.
We live in California, and spend the summer months in the Azores.
Portuguese heritage with a touch of a French soul 😉
I like your style and look forward to your future videos.
Merci Cecilia
OMG, thank you so much!!! you are so sweet! When we moved to Europe, we started with the idea of living In Portugal, then we pivoted to France, my husband documented it all in his channel, here is the link if you get curious, www.youtube.com/@BeneaththeSurfaceYT
Thank you so much for the kind comment! and for following my channel, I super appreciate it.
Amazing what you created, love your style!

Love watching your journey! Vision, inspiration, patience, hard work... 🧚
Thanks so much! 😊 wow, what a loving comment!!! I super appreciate it!!!
The kitchen is beautiful! Love all the choices. And the jewelry too! And oh goodness even your storage jars are beautiful - those wooden lids.
Oh wow! I want to see more of Cecilia’s organizational systems.
Thank you so much! and congratulation on your new kitchen, I hope you super enjoy it with your family :) thank you for the kind words and support!
Absolutely stunning! Looking forward to following you on this journey.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!!!
Your kitchen is beyond beautiful.
Thank you so much!!! you are so sweet!!!
Your kitchen is beautiful and practical and it’s a great mix of American/European style
Thanks so much! 😊 what a great observation. I really appreciate the comment :)
Merci beaucoup, j’apprécie vraiment ton gentil commentaire !
Just lovely! Many of us appreciate seeing the mistakes, because it makes you more "real." Eager to see more!!! ❤
Thanks so much! 😊 you are so sweet!!! what a kind thing to say, much much appreciated :)

Coming soon, promise!
Tu cocina es preciosa Cecilia!! A ver si nos compartes unas recetas deliciosas, como buena cocinera que eres! Eres muy creativa!❤
❤Me encantan tu videos y amo tu estilo❤ tu cocina quedarà de ensueño❤
Gracias! Que lindo que te guste, tango bastante para agregar pero poco a poco! Muchas gracias por tus lindas palabras y tu apoyo
