Thank you for lovely comment and I am so glad this is giving you extra ideas on how to use the chestnuts you forage, creme de marron is HEAVENLY (on toast or mixed with plain yoghurt, or to make cakes). Bonjour. C’est merveilleux! Mes grands-parents maternels italiens me préparaient des châtaignes à Québec durant toute mon enfance.

I wish I had a chestnut tree in my garden in London, I planted one 13 years ago but realistically it is not the right climate to grow chestnuts, when they grow in the UK they tend to be tiny and the squirrels get them first. The trees themselves, especially when mature, are beautiful with a twisting, textured trunk. I'd love to live in a place in France or Italy with chestnut trees in my garden, maybe when I retire in a few years...
Absolutely loved watching your vlog! We have the most glorious chestnut tree in our garden in our second home in South West France which always produces such a large crop of chestnuts. We are never sure what to do with them all, thank you for your lovely recipes. Can’t wait to watch your next vlog xxx
You can boil, roast, pan-roast, even microwave chestnuts. Or dehydrate them and eat them on their own, just plain and delicious. A healthy source of very low fat carbs, no need to add oil, butter, cream as in this recipe. I also simply eat roast chestnuts with steamed Brussels sprouts or broccoli, some people even add them to salads, beans, etc. They're just a basic super-healthy and low fat carb, please don't let them rot! Also one of the few still seasonal foods that you cannot buy from shops all year round. In Autumn/Winter they're my main source of carbs, together with Kabocha squashes, which are also very low fat and satisfyingly filling. They keep me slim because you can eat these plain, they're so delicious, you don't need to add anything or make complicated recipes like in this video.
Me encanta su contenido tan hermoso y diferente, me recuerda a un libro que tengo se llama White & Faded. Ese libro fue la inspiración para mi decoración actual, feliz de ver su contenido tan maravilloso ❤

Chestnuts are my absolute favourite food. But it seems you're making your life unnecessarily complicated by peeling the chestnuts when they're still raw. Just boil them (with the lid on, so your kitchen does not become a sauna) for 45 minutes or longer for the really big marron chestnuts, then simply squeeze or cut them them and spoon out the flesh. This is how I eat them, just plain and delicious, my Italian grandma always used to cook (boil) chestnuts this way. You can also score and then roast, pan-roast or even microwave them. In Italy we also eat dried chestnuts, which can last for years, and I also buy the vacuum-packed ones from Lidl in the UK when they have their Italian week, they're called Avellino chestnuts (from the name of the Italian region they come from), they are delicious and last for years, also a great snack to carry around in your bag and of course a healthy snack for children. Very low in fat, very filling, a great source of healthy carbs, and you don't need to add any fattening oil or butter or sugar, I just keep it simple. That vase of twigs and flowers from the garden on top of your pristine white books will leave a water mark... I too like a stylish interior but not at the expense of damaging my books or furniture.
It is always interesting to see everyone's different techniques for chestnuts, I am very happy with mine! I love roasting them on the fire if I plan to eat them straight away, but not when I plan on using them in a recipe, but good for you if you prefer a simpler way to consume them. Thank you for your concern, the books are fine 😂
