A year or two ago, there were crazy lightning storms in neighbouring towns. From my house it looked like there was a war of the worlds going on in the distance and the lightning was turning the sky pink, purple and blue. Completely natural phenomena, but if spun in a spooky way, could seem scary.

Number 12, while the movie The Ghost of Blackwell is a mockumentary and the house that is supposedly haunted is actually in Lexington, KY and not in Pennsylvania the house itself is quite real. In the house's basement there is also an old time, what looks to be, manhole cover which seals off a cemented cylindrical cavity just like the basement in number 12's house. It's obvious to viewers, and confirmed in the film, that it is indeed an indoor well and well-hole cover. Older houses like that, especially those built when the nation was in its infancy, or even when it was still under British rule, often had wells as city sewers weren't common. We had graduated from transporting water, daily, from a local water source so people were almost always reliant on well water if they wanted water readily for use within the home. Outhouses were also common during this time. That was until city waterlines provided homes with fresh water and people upgraded to septic or, of they were lucky, full indoor plumbing. So, while these wells aren't super common anymore as many have been filled in and covered up, they aren't mysterious or odd at all. They were a staple of that era.
