If I were a buyer today it would be the Z06.
I own the Z06 have driven a couple E Rays, we have an E ray in the family, for me the Z is by far the way to go. My family member is selling there E ray to get a Z. The biggest reasons for me is Sound, the looks of the rear with center exit exhaust, the handling, the engine, the way the car responds and feels. It seems to downshift and pop far superior.
Everyone has their own reasons why one is better than the other.
No one mentions the $3000 gas Guzzler tax.

If you just need the widebody look go E-Ray if you can get a good price negotiation.
If you’re going from street light to street light like the test drive the eray is fun. Z06 is a complete different animal and not meant for drag racing. Different audience for both. Either way great cars
no z06 c8 is more fun going from light to light.

Faster, can drive it all year, and allows amateur drivers to drive faster. A Z06 in the hands of a professional on the track is a heck of a car. For me? It is the E-ray all day!! 😁

@ yes. I have driven a C7 Z06 as well. They are hard beasts to tame. I do not profess to being a great driver. The e-ray is much more forgiving in a track situation and way more forgiving when the temperature is colder or the ground is wet.
Biggest problem with the E-Ray is that it's Not a ZO6.
I think the Z06 is mostly for bragging rights, and most people who get them will just keep them as garage queens that will never get anywhere near a track. And imagine the embarrassment of pulling up next to an Eray at a light and getting dusted in the Z06. Yeah it sounds good, but that's about all it has going for it. Carbon ceramics are stock on the Eray, but a $8000 option on the Z. Screw that! Not worth it, especially with all the greedy piglet dealer markups.

@marcusblackmon1080 Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches and McLarens are overpriced. By comparison, the Z06 and Eray are garage sale bargains.
Love my ERay! I'm driving it as much as possible! Love the Z06 exhaust, but zero regret going with ERay! Great video, by the way!

I would definitely buy the ERay! You can change the camshaft, headers, put some American racing headers, and exhaust. Eray will sound crazy!! All that sound and horsepower will be so American!
It was mentioned but one of the most important things is the buyer's location. If you want to drive your car year around and you live anywhere that sees rain and even snow...or just temperatures around 40° for at least a month or 2....the E-ray is the only option
Great video!! What I've always gathered from comparing the two and a lot of people say the Z06 is faster but the Eray is quicker. Both are great cars but for me like what Darren said the Z06 is more obnoxious and I love that about the Z06.

If im driving these cars daily, I want the e-ray. If i want the fastest car, im going with a twin turbo set up on the e-ray. Z06 probably feels more unique because of the flat plane, but I prefer the sound of a cross plane imo. I know most people disagree. Also, most of the power on the z06 is high up, so it probably feels significantly slower going around town.
Not really because when you ask for more horsepower the way the computer is it downshift and puts you in the higher RPM band
This is like saying which kid is your favorite. I love them all each one is unique. The base model has that AFM which is excellent on gas.
While the Z06 has the insane sound, and the Eray is instantly fast. But the best part in the corvette community everyone shows love. Regardless of any model corvette you have.

@@boywonderrr71Started having issues with the Battery..That AWD tends to grab every rut n crack n bend in the road.. I took a 5grand loss as well,But it was the right move..The ZO6 is much more fun to drive.. IMA👍 im much happier now 😊

The E-Ray is nice, for sure. But I don't think I'd trade the Z06 for it.
That being said, considering the E-Ray uses the LT2...which has some rather interesting recipes by companies like Lingenfelter, including not only stroker kits to 427 cubic inches, supercharged or even twin turbo setups, I'd be pretty damn tempted to build a monstrous E-Ray too...😂
This is what I plan on doing. Was going to get the Z but decided on the Eray to get the 427 conversation, stage 3 cam, and throw a Whipple supercharger on it. Current saving for the 427 kit
I was going to buy an e ray, after spending a few days in one I was kind of bored with it? Great car, I bought the Z06., It’s just another animal, every time I get in it I get a bigger smile on my face. Also, I have tested the in car timer versus my dragy and three or four trips to the racetrack. My in car timer is always a little quicker than the real time. I consistently get 2.6 to 2.9 on my in car timer my dragy is consistently 2.7 to 3.1? I’ve been a drag racer since I was 16 years old took a little practice, but I think I’ve got it down? lol. Both great cars I’m a Corvette lover for over 40 years. But the Z06 in my opinion is an exceptional vehicle, especially for the money. I’ve had a couple of hurrican’s I prefer the Z. love the content glad I found your channel.
E-Ray for me alone because its all wheel drove that comes in handy when the weather gets messy
To me, it’s not about zero 60 speed as much as the driving experience that’s always what I take with me
I think they are both amazing cars. For me if I was going to purchase one, it would Be the E ray. The only reason is because I could quietly get in and out of my gated community without bothering anybody or waking up my wife.
Maybe a Z06 with electric assist would be super cool.
you can start it up on Weather mode on c8 z06 and starts up quiet.
Z06. Hands down. Sounds better. Wouldn’t have a big battery that could cause multiple problems. Head on collision. Forget it. Your toast

I personally think the Eray is better because of the fuel mileage, the all-wheel-drive, and also better in the streets. Although the ER is a more aggressive stingray with the exhaust song, I think that electrification song makes it even cooler combining them together

With the two colors together, black and grey, the lighter color definitely shows the body lines the best!
I have the 2024 Eray and love it, I would like a louder exhaust from the factory but other than that, it is perfect. I used to think my 60's hotrods were fast until I got this car.
I think a good analogy, especially if you grew up racing dirt bikes, is… C8 E-Ray = 4 stroke engine…. C8 Z06 = 2 stroke engine.
The e-ray is nice but it doesn’t compare to the C8 Z06.
Zoro solved all issues.
What C8 Z06 owners are missing is the lack of torque that they had with the C7 Z06.
Many current C8 Z06 owners are wasting money on air intakes and throttle bodies to attempt to gain power.
The LT6 engine was designed for the twin turbo LT7.
At least with the E-Ray, you can add a Magnuson supercharger.
I like the e-ray, but it's just a basic stingray with electric front wheel motors and the z06 look. That's why I can't go e-ray. The hybrid v8/electric will become common, and once they offer it on the z06 the e-ray will fade away. Z06 is special, it's a true super car.
I am at this point of trying to decide which one to get. Plan to get zo6 next spring.
There's no way even a ZR-1 would be as consistent 0-60 with these low times. I feel like most people are going to hang out under 100 mph. The ZR-1 would be the top dog above those speeds.
Flat Plane Crank. It’s the glory of the C8 mid engine. Z06 is the only way I would buy a C8.
Apples and Oranges. The Z06 has to be driven correctly on the street to realize its charms. It’s a “race car”, not a “sports car”. It lives to be driven in manual in the 3-7000RPM range, which gives you both torque and power concurrently. For many, that’s counterintuitive as they’re not use to such high RPM’s, so they “run home to mama” to a Stingray or now Eray. Both of those are great cars too and for many, even most, a more comfortable platform they are familiar with.
Great video concept! The E-Ray is definitely a bonus from the Corvette gods! It is an amazing car!

If you're not going to track it and live in a place that gets a lot of snow and rain, the E-Ray is the logical choice. Especially if you want to take it to the drag strip. For everyone else, Z06 all day. It will probably have better resale value as well because of that engine.
Who the hell is driving their $130k sports car in the snow? Lmfao. Anyone with a functioning brain buying a Z or E has a secondary car as a daily.
The Z06 is the car if you are serious about tracking and want to impress people with the sound. Since I'm not hardcore tracking and really don't care about the sound all the time, the E-Ray is the choice as it has more than enough power/performance and a ton better as a daily. E-Ray seems closer to a 911 Turbo. Great video!

Dear Brink of Speed. My name is Kevin and I am a disabled veteran trying to live out his childhood dream of owning a Vette. I really like your videos and have been watching them for quiet some time. I say this because I am about to buy a new Corvette, either the Stingray, or the Eray. My question to you is can you help me find or recommend a reputable dealer to find a 2024 ERay. I've tried here in the Detroit area and they wont help. Of course they are pushing the 2025's and wont look for an ERay for me especially a 2024. Any help or information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you sir, and keep up the good work!!

ZO6 hands down. The ZO6 is an automotive milestone - the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in the world - a record that will never be duplicated with everyone going smaller engines with turbos and hybrid. ZO6 is a very special car - the E-Ray is not. One last comment, don't think you did 2.2 - the DIC is notoriously inaccurate. Use draggy times or go to the track. Per GM testing = 2.5 and Z=2.6. After 1/4 mile, Z walks away. See Tadge video on Leno when they discuss ERay 😊

For me, E-Ray all day. All wheel. Torque. And I actually like the combined sound.
I love the sound of the Z06 with the fat plane crank. I love the acceleration and torque of the E-Ray. For me, I'd probably go with the E-Ray. I don't track cars, but I love acceleration. Thanks for the video!

I made a 130 mile jaunt in my '24 E-Ray yesterday mostly on !20 & it only had 209 miles of mostly in town driving to start & the miles per gallon was below 10. When I got to my destination to eat my passenger commented that the miles per gallon was showing 22.4. About half way back I happened to look at what mileage It was getting & it had increased to 24.6. For the most part I was driving at 80 + & all the way up to 100 while on !20. Seems to me to be a no brainer if you intend to use your car on the race track then the Z06 is the obvious choice but for the vast majority of owners who will only use it for short bursts of competition around town (excuse me Mexico) the E-Ray is a far superior choice. Just nothing like the feel & sound of torque to bring a grin to your face. If you have ever owned (I have owned 6) the supercharged corvettes of yesteryear you can only be chomping at the bit to get your hands on the new ZR1 w / 828 #'s ft of torque to go along with 1000+ HP & a 8000 rpm rev limit.
Z06 if U stand up to pee, Eray if U sit down 🤣
Love them both but hard to turn away from that 5.5 bespoke engine. I am thinking because of that engine depreciation will be kinder to the Z06 in the distant future...but the 0-60 and 0-100 times in the E-Ray are hard to ignore.

How do the batteries last on a track with constant hard acceleration and not a lot of time to regenerate?
Next eRay needs the flat-plane crank - that would be the best of both worlds
The E-Ray seems like a Vette that can appeal to awd BMW and Audi customers who don't like the "scare factor" of rwd cars with power.
If I had tha money to get a Corvette tha ZR1 would be tha 1st choice then Z06
"The boy in me said Z06 and the man in me said ERay" ....and there lies the dilemma in choosing!!! I'm on that fence! I've rented a Ferrari F8 and kept it for a few days, that sound is addicting and my biggest draw to getting the Z06. Plus, I've owned two previous generation Z06's so there's that loyalty to the badge too. I'm still on the fence. LOL

Mike, one of your best videos ever! I have (had)? my heart set on a Z06. But after seeing all the videos where everyone comments on the AWD and after driving my wife’s new Jaguar F Pace with AWD I’m torn. It really makes a difference. Clay said it best. Depends on what you’re looking for. His spec, btw, is on point. I have another year or so to make up my mind.

It's not better or worse. It's a matter of how you want to use the car and what you care about most. There is no need to drive wedges in the same community of car enthusiasts

On circuit electric assist will fall off very quick battery is only 1.9kwh, it weight more too. Z06 has a very interesting engine and looks better, just watch the value in 10 years, C8 E-Ray electric system will deteriorate like any other electric car, it will cost tons to replace, I would bet on the Z06 keeping 50-70k more.

Thing about Z06 you have to downshift to get into high rpms for the torque

Road racing, Z06 should win depending on the driver.
If you upgrade each car with a budget of 50k the eray will be fast.
I'm not sure there is a "better" one. Just depends which one you want. I'd go Eray. But I couldn't care less about the sound. If I had to choose, I'd choose the grunty 6.2 over the 5.5, but that's up to the individual.
I went Stingray, Z06 then ERay. Stingray is the best value for the money. The Z06 is an incredible car and the definite choice if you're going to track it, but for regular street use (not just occasional event use), the ERay is the better car. If I could have two, I'd take the Z06 and ERay. If I can only have one, for the way I use it (street/autox with about 8000 miles a year), the ERay is my definite choice.

E1Ray is heavier, and the weight on front can feel it on curvy roads or the track...
What I would Love is an E-Ray with more motor in the back... Maybe add some type of 'boost' to the V-8 {Particularly a supercharger with the power coming in at lower RPMs}

Dodge MISSED the opportunity with the EV+ V8 with new Charger/ HELLCATS in my honest opinion, You keep all the SMOKE and have the emissions and future tech in one. The is the best setup for a US based racing car.

Well I was a firm believer in the Z06 until my 2024 leaked all the oil out on my garage floor today. So I’m not so sure right now. 800 miles on it.
