- Prof Harry Falk, world expert on ancient Indian languages and the renowned Indian historian, Charles Allen, discuss the authenticity of the inscription found on an urn at the Piprahwa Stupa. He concludes that this urn did contain the ashes of the Buddha. Excerpt from Bones of the Buddha, Icon Films, National Geographic Channel.

The language used here is Pali and the script is called the dhamma lipi from which almost all scripts used in India, some srilankan(sihali) and South East Asian scripts have evolved.
Some people have modified the name of scripts as brahmi for their own benefits but it's interesting to know the word brahmi can't be written in Dhamma lipi also in Ashokan inscriptions clearly mentioned that the script used for the most of inscription is Dhamma lipi(script). Some Ashokan inscriptions in the North West Frontier were found in kharosthi too.

@@guru_hindu Read before you claim. Ashokan inscriptions are in Pali language and Dhamma script. He even used Greek and Aramaic language as his kingdom was till present Iraq but never used Sanskrit or Devanagri script which came much later.
India gave the contents to the king of Thailand. Thank Buddha some of the jewels are in possession of the discoverers son.
