In this video you will see how I trace a spare part with photos and print it in the 3D printer. Step by step I guide you through the simple process, using only free software.
First, paths are created in Inkscape. Here I show three different options -Automatically trace, use the Bezier Pen to draw a path, Shapes and Path Options. Then, in Tinkercad, a solid is created from the 2D geometry and adjusted.

I like your presentation style. Make more Video of this Content please. :D
Sweet I bookmarked this video and will likely reference it numerous times. I didn't realize I could take a photo and use that to trace a bitmap. Just got started with inkscape a little while ago. My process was to trace the physical object with a pen on paper then scan and use that. I think there could be a small amount of distortion caused by the camera lense in the photos and the technique I was using is probably good for particular applications but there are obvious advantages to using photos for geometries that would be hard to physically trace to paper.
Thanks great video!
I doubt that this way is accurate and exact. Since you use a CAD software afterwards, it would be more efficient to measure the broken part and construct it from scratch in the software and get straight lines and exact fit and as a side effect you didn't waste your time while you learn something new.
I can see pros and cons to it. It obviously worked, but I agree its not the most accurate way of doing it (notice the edge that attaches to the wall is curved in the scan). Particuarly without digital calipers. But I can also see that, it may have been easier to get some of the shape and angles of the curves easier than having to measure the angles. But ultimately, this isn't a very complex part, and it wouldn't have been too difficult to construct from scratch. Thats probably what I would have done. However, when you get into more complex objects where getting all of the curves and angles is more important than getting the dimensions exact? I feel like this would be an easier way of doing it. For instance, when I see people trying to reconstruct model kits like cars and robots, they will typically use something similar to this method, at the very least to get a starting shape to build off of.
Alles Recht nett.
Photos are inherently perspective
I would at least use a zoom / Tele lense
Why not use 3D photogrammetry?
With object masking you can now flip the model and it makes one model out of different photo sets
To everyone complaining about the process. This is meant as an example of what is possible. There are use cases where this would come in handy.
Ergo, kein Abbo,...wenigstens kein Daumen runter
@@MrRabe06 AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I would rather draw it directly in Tinkercad from scratch.
Well done. Aber im Baumarkt geht es schneller
It is cheaper to buy it 😌😌
...if its on stock...
Option #2:
Go to a Chinesse shop. Buy 2 of those for 1 euro. Enjoy the rest of the day.
ich kaufs dann mal lieber ;)
