- I'm still alive. Just had to shelve the project for a time due to burn out from personal stuff during 2020 - 2023.
Here we go!! The first segment of my X4 passion project is complete. There are still some things that may I get back to like fix the background, adjust the coloring, etc. But I learned not to obsess too much with the end results and just enjoy the journey and what I learn along the way.
Next stop: Plot out the Sky Lagoon Segment (Good luck with a possible Eregion fight scene. 😂)

One would think, but no. I was like 13-14 when X4 came out. The OG intro is nowhere near as good as this. Hell, when X4 came out people were still calling anime "Japanimation". Lol when I first learned the term "anime" I said "Do you mean japanimation like speed racer or Ronin Warriors?"

@victoryleo8310 that's awesome! I respect your work hustle. I used to love shoveling snowy driveways for cash. I know i bought a few games or accessories like that, but off the top of my head, through decades of foggy memory I forget which ones. Id have to sit there and think. However Being a second generation gamer, (born 1985) for some reason I never got a Sega Saturn. I had every North american Sega console except that and master system. I don't believe America ever got the SG-1000 but I could be wrong. But I'd play Saturn at my one friend's house. Into our young adulthood and college years, he would throw "Sega Saturn Bomber Man Pizza Parties". This was 2003-2007 so LAN style gaming and couch coop were still going on. We'd basically play Saturn bomber man, eat pizza, smoke entirely too much pot, drink entirely too much beer, and have a blast.

@TheKorenji BTW I love the profile pic. Gamma is quite possibly the greatest/saddest/most meaningful sonic story there ever was. I teared up the first playthrough as a 1999 New Jersey teenager even. I was like, 14 about? It was my freshman year of high school.
@@T26OG. Shadow, Emerl, and Cosmo are 100% up there as well, but what can I say? I loved Gamma in story as much as in gameplay, his design and even his voice... I would've done terrible things as a kid if finishing his campaign locked me out from playing as him... And I wasn't even born at the time, only REALLY got to play Sonic Adventure DX around 2012 as a 9y/o or so, and I used to like every character equally (yes, even Big, what a silly guy), but as I grew to understand Gamma, I grew to appreciate him even further. These days, I'm glad he's resting in peace, because I would've died inside a little if his character got assassinated like with Shadow.
@TheKorenji Wow I love this comment. I really like gaining the perspectives of people both older and younger than myself. And i really really like the way you write and present English. I miss engaging people like you so much. I absolutely loved gammas voice, for me it just fits perfectly. The tones and moods of the atmosphere and his existence shows You this deeply feeling robot that can only express itself emotionlessy. Especially when he asks Amy in prison "Why care about that which has no value to you?" and then she days something like "I feel sorry for you". I became a medical assistant mich later in adulthood and that scene represents my career in medicine, in a poetoc sense id need to explain. But back to 99,14 year old me felt like i could relate. Teenage hormones and all that but also life experience taught me to know what it feels like to be sort of "stuck in a robotic body and cant express yourself" with the typical changes of puberty and coming of age. I was huge into Edgar Allen Poe at the time and existential-type writing, and being someone whos played sonic since 1991, watched all the cartoons, reqd the comics, i was really intrigued by the idea of "Being one of Robotniks badniks" I know now he's Eggman truly. But that game was the first time anyone ever called him that in the English speaking world officially in game. Kinda like the princess toadstool and king koopa thing. Mario 64 kinda fucked me up and it took me a long time to get used to Charles martinet as Mario, and saying "Bowser" and "Peach". I assumed sonic was calling him some new insult. I was quite used to so ics constant barrage of insults toward Ivo so I just assumed that's what that was. I never thought about the possibility of him being locked out, but I was way too sad too see gamma so I didn't play gamma file for some time. Lol when I saw the red bird I did a Homer impression "Come on, get back in the robot". I know it's sad about shadows assanation, but Sega can be like marvel sometimes and people die and come back a lot. Shadow was literally meant to die in the end of sonic adventure 2. He was originally meant to die like the end cutscene implies. In spite of his hatred for the human race, he died saving them. It would have been the perfect story for him. A tragic tale mich like gammas. But he was SO FUCKONG POPULAR with the fans that they decided to go against this beautiful end and just bring him back anyway. Capcom did this with megaman X5 and X6. The series was supposed to end at X5, but money. Shadows can never be gone for long. Bit Gamma my friend, he really truly is dead. Much like cowboy bebop, the ending is so perfect that to resurrect him would be to destroy his legacy. In order for him to remain a work of art, he has to remain dead. I fucking HATED THAT at 14. Especially when I saw his tribute follower, (antecesor i think you call this?) i cant think of his name. I never played sonic heroes back then, i watched a youtube playthrough of it like 4 years ago bit of boredom. I can't remember that robots name, but yeah that second gammas existence really sealed the deal for me that gamma was gone. In the late 90s I got worried that things like sonic, mario, link, kirby, would be gone relics of the past. Nobody would careabout them ever again. Boy was I wrong about that. That's why I love seeing the younger generations perspective on it. Your guys passion for retro kept my childhood heroes going forever :) I'm so happy everyone still loves it all, so thank you for being you.

The part where Colonel stood and raised his sword, I could see as part of a "Colonel Model" which would be the equivalent of MHX1's Vile Mode

I usually like to play devils advocate and disagree with "best ever claims" but I one million percent agree with you. I've been a megaman fan since the 80s. I've seen a TON of Megaman/Rockman things over the decades now. It's definitely the greatest megaman animation i ever saw. It's like, there's a lot of high quality content creators on RUclips these days, but this is like, shockingly good quality for what it is. I felt my inner 90s child watching this. Like the ratatouille scene where he goes back to his childhood with one bite. Mother fucking chefs kiss from an old school jersey 90s kid.
Okay, I honestly thought that Capcom had just announced a remake of X4. Excellent work.

I feel it would be unethical to ask for funds for this, being Capcom's property. I could risk getting the whole thing being DMCA'd which is why this is a non profit project. Though I do get some gigs because of this. Which is nice.

Idk why im so prefixed on your video today. I first saw it today, and i keep coming back to it. Its so fucking good! The attention to detail to me is animation studio worthy. Also with attention to detail of the plot, the way you represent sigma with magma dragoon, split mushroom and co. The skiver cameo made me obscenely happy. Ever since i saw these and the megaman 8 old school OVA cutscenes, I've always wanted to see a megaman x anime. OG megaman i was satisfied without one because i grew up on the old ruby spears american cartoon. I was born in 85 so i was the perfect age for it. Now that im older and understand japanimation as anime now, i realize how corney that old show was, but all of our cartoons were pretty corney back then. Just, please, please, omg please keep working towards this. You straight up deserve a lucrative career in animation and/or graphic art design.

WOW. Simply stunning. X4 is the VERY first console game I ever purchased and I played it through and through til there's absolutely nothing else for me to play. Thank you for making this incredible tribute. And thank you for using the Japanese theme song too cuz the other version is just.... no bueno lol I can't imagine the amount of work if this was a one-man project. It must've been a pain for the boss sequence around 0:14 lol all that beautiful arts to barely squeeze two seconds out of it lmao

That is such amazing animation! I hope this MV got more scene of X in it since Capcom doesn't do him justice in the original. For a main protagonist, he sure has not appeared much inside the Opening video and even in the cutscene of his own scenario. Poor X..

Pretty good, i am impressed, and very detailed. (Some bosses are lieutenants or lieutenant colonel of Reploid force, and others are either hired or have aggrement with "That man")

As a huge fan of X4 (One of my favorite games in the series...), this is PERFECT. I swear, you got nearly every detail right, and even the music fits really well (I mean that you used the JP version instead of the other one.). Can't wait to see the rest of it completed, but please, take your time creating this masterpiece.
Dude right? It's so well polished and pays so much attention to detail. Like seeing the skiver with the repliforce air unit (or is it originally Reploid airforce? I get confused by the x5 mistranslations). You know who made this video REALLY knows the game and art style. Lol watching this as an old/young fuck I can hear in my mind "Don't miss Mega Man X, tonight at 5 only on toonami" this masterpiece must be finished.
I mean jesus christ. I was a teenager when x4 came out and to this day it's my most played and favorite in the X series. It's like this guy outperformed Capcom. The og intro is shit compared to this, and it's not even complete! You know how it goes, when you love a game, played it a million times, know every detail, then you see it expressed in another person like this and you feel happy knowing others love X4 as much as you do.
