My dad sang this to us when we were kids. I always thought he made it up!! So cool to hear this recording.

We had a cabin in Fish Canyon, California in Duarte. There had to be a hundred old records in the Victrola. My Grandfather use to sing all of these old songs while making breakfast at six am. The canyon burnt out in 1962, taking all the cabins with it. About ten years ago you could still see the foundation and rock walls my Granpa built. The whole canyon has been stripped out by an aggregate company, no more pools to jump into, no more waterfall just to make cement. Sad.

We have an old Edison Victrola at our cabin. Whenever we fire it up, this is always one of our family's favorites 😋

Yep, that's me. I'm an early riser by most people's standards, but Harry's brother makes me seem like a night owl, this song sounds about like how I get up. I often get up at 4 AM to 5 AM in the summer. But in the winter I like to sleep in until 6 AM. Starting work at 3 AM? Wow. That's a bit much, even for me

Amazing to hear this one. I have the earlier version of this song from my grandfather's collection, a single-sided 12" shellac acoustic VICTOR 78, #70107, recorded Jan. 15, 1914) which is an entirely different recording by Harry Louder of this great song... with much less bass and a slightly different ending.

Thanks for putting this up. I always wondered where it came from. My Grandad would always sing the chorus in the morning but I never knew where it came from. Thank you
