Thanks for all the kind words regarding my videos and I just want to thank Pan and the DIY Detail team for allowing this middle-aged father from Western Canada to be a part of an amazing weekend. It is my genuine hope that this video encourages those that have been tentative about tackling a paint polishing project to get their feet wet and give it a shot. Plus, the palm sander will still have use around the home if you were to decide to upgrade to the next level in polishing machines. Great video Pan, and thank you for letting me be a part of it.

Great information from two of my favorite RUclips detailers, Pan and Rick! It just shows that a person at home that wishes to polish their vehicle with an existing tool, can obtain decent results with DIY Polish, a yellow waffle pad, and palm sander if you don't want to invest in the bigger or dedicated polishers! I actually have done this many many years ago before I had any dedicated polisher but pad choice was pretty limited but I was able to get it done and it was easier than doing it by hand back then. I used a liquid cleaner wax with mine back years ago and got decent results with it actually. I have quite a few polishers now of all sizes and types but it can be done. Like you guys said, this is a great "intro" into polishing with almost no chance of making a major mistake like burning through the paint. You really did get pretty good results for a very short working cycle/passes and that palm sander with only 3mm orbit. That polish must really be great! I'm going to have to try that in the future along with those yellow waffle pads. I have always liked polishing with waffle pads.

A new car is never new until it's properly detailed.
      - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example.
      - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc
      - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements
      - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches
      - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat.
If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well.
I explain all of this in this popular video: ruclips.net/video/QgoyrC-5CMc/видео.html
So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car for my customers:

Thanks for the positive feedback Thai. I appreciate it. It shows that you can still be objective while testing products.
Many of the people who were just hating and are now actually giving my products a try are rapidly realizing I wasn’t playing when I said they are actually excellent products we worked hard to develop.
So now the same people who were hating are apologizing, which is at least a sign of maturity.

The video was removed. After reading the feedback in the comments, there were a lot of people that were saying that I should not have included my line of products and the ones from Detail Co in the awards, as they are new to the market and not tested by the public yet.
When it was time to start prepping for the awards video, I asked myself the question: “Should I include my own products or not?” And I had decided to include them, because in my heart of hearts I knew how good they were since I had spent so much time on R&D and testing.
I had also been able to test a few Detail Co products ahead of launch to share my feedback with the owners, and I really enjoyed them. Hence why they were also included.
As people now started receiving their orders and started testing, independent reviews are popping up and show that my products perform to a very high level. I’ll let the products speak for themselves.

Many years ago when I was involved with car bodywork repairs, I recall the first DA (dual action) Sander the company purchased. It was pneumatic, you could mechanically lock the drive solid, similar to a rotary machine or switch it to random orbit mode. The name appears to have been carried over to random orbit polishers, without them actually being dual action. Obviously, I could be missing something here.

I hope one day your brand will be available here too!
I have a question: My cars are primarily garage queens, and after washing and waxing my cars, I tend to cover them with microfiber covers (indoors). When I drive them after a day or two, the brakes make odd sounds for a mile or two. Now I can't drive to dry them off after washing because I live in a dusty city and they'll get dusty immediately.
Tried blow drying them but doesn't help. Any tips?

    • @theredscourge
      @theredscourge 3 месяца назад +1

Palm sander is fine. General process:
Fill all paint chips first and give the paint at least a week to cure. Then do a thorough wash and dry, then soak the car again with a garden hose or pressure washer and do a synthetic clay bar towel treatment using iron remover spray as a clay lube, (ensure car stays wet entire time, maybe do on a cloudy or rainy day; 1 spray on the towel and 1 spray on the panel, glide it super gently on the panel so you do not scratch til all roughness goes away in every spot, but practice by doing the windows first as they do not scratch; dunk the towel in rinseless wash after every panel, shake it out, and re-apply a squirt of iron remover to it then a squirt on the panel). Rinse off before it dries, do a water spot remover treatment which is similar process but with a wet microfiber towel, rinse again, then another light wash with rinseless wash to get rid of all the tap water. Then you do paint correction with wet sandpaper for bad scratches, polish that spot to remove the wet sanding cloudiness, then do a full polish, then do a panel prep or somehow remove all polish residue before you lock it in with a coating. I use 3M Trizact 3000 grit for wet sanding. You want to do it VERY sparingly, you are not making scratches disappear, you are just rounding the edges so they stop catching light and looking bright white! These cars only have about 0.1mm of clearcoat so you DO NOT want to break through. 1 second of wet sanding is at least as effective as 1 minute of polishing and the spot must always be followed up plenty of polishing to remove the cloudiness and restore shine.
