Hey there! I’m not sure if you’ve made your decision yet, but I’m exactly in the same situation as you are. In my region, the price difference between the 16 and the 15 is just $133, so I decided to go with the 16. :) Honestly, I just wanted the newest one because I’ll be using it for 5+ years, and I didn’t want to have an older generation for the future. Plus, the iPhone 16 Pro looks so similar to the 15 if you want to buy the 16 but are unsure about the design! I hope this helps!

The reason every iPhone or Android was different from the last is because the smartphone industry was still something new with room to improvement. I mean if you’re getting it for gaming its absolutely a solid choice. It gives out constant 60 hz and you wont notice any stutters in gameplay due to the A18 chip. I personally dont need 120 hz because I dont do professional editing or watch high quality movies. A 15 would be plenty good just from the perspective of it being a major upgrade alone. I upgraded from an 8 Plus to a 15, didn’t care about the AI stuff or camera button plus I still like having the mute slider as well which for 15/15 Plus is the last of those models with it. So many added features over the years combined with easier layouts on even the most basic functions are worth upgrading to a 15 alone. Face ID is way faster than Touch ID, sometimes to a fault as far as unlocking the phone too fast if you don’t want to but it hasn’t been crazy annoying for me.
Battery is shit. I been using shitsung nearly 15 years. Finally switched to iphone, battery is biggest upgrade shitsung or any other android will never match iphone with battery and smoothness.

If I may ask, what makes it a mediocre product? This base model has one of the strongest, fastest socs on the market, has very strong cameras and video, great battery life and a strong build, not to mention a multitude of security features. No smartphone company is revolutionizing the category with yearly releases, all yearly releases are iterative. In fact, since the S20, Samsung took away numerous features from the base S-line, including removing expandable storage, lowering screen resolution, lowering RAM, etc. and reserving those features for the highest end Samsung phones. Just because a company releases a new phone every year doesn't mean a person is supposed to buy a new phone every year. Every year a new car, a new TV, etc is released, and they will be very small improvements, if any, on a year to year basis. It doesn't mean a person should buy a new one every year, right?

Neither of them. They both have a horrible OLED display with PWM, which can cause eye strain and a load of other unwanted health effects, unless your phone’s brightness is maxed out. They need to either make their OLED displays flicker free, or have an IPS LCD option.
