Kattapa represents bheesma a demi god like character in mahabharata who made an oath to never ascend throne and serve his brother and his heirs for generations. He gives loyalty more important that righteousness.
Shivgami wasn’t dumb but as Kattapa said, she was blinded by her rage against Bahubali and Devsena to the point that she failed to see the play of her own blood. We have to remember that Amrendra Bahubali and Bhallaldev are actually cousins but raised as brothers. Although the throne belonged to Amrendra anyway because his father Vikram was the king but as Shivgami became the Queen Regent after the death of Amrendra’s real mother the queen, Shivgami could have him killed and appoint her own son future king but she gave both children a chance to be raised and appointed equally. After appointing Amrendra as the future king (crown Prince) she felt guilt for Bhallaldev and unlike his father who openly badmouthed Shivgami and Bahubali, Bhallaldev guilt trip his mother. He constantly made his mother feel that she was being biased against Bahubali and he got his chance when he discovered Devsena’s portrait. Bhallaldev knew that both his mother and his brother wouldn’t go against their promises so he instigated a play where Shivgami promised him Devsena as his wife (cause according to Shivgami this is the only thing that he ever openly asked for) and while on the other hand he had a hunch that his brother might’ve already promised Devsena to be his wife so Bahubali wouldn’t just break that promise even over the throne which is exactly what happened. Amrendra chose to stick to his promise to Devsena to marry her rather than take his throne. His actions really hurts Shivgami fuelled by her guilt towards Bhallaldev. Devsena’s continuous opposition didn’t helped either cause those opposition continuously made Shivgami feel bitter towards both of them hence getting all her judgement blind towards Bhallaldev’s own actions. When Bhallaldev took away Amrendra’s duties as commander, Shivgami already didn’t like that decision, she just didn’t wanted to say anything in front guest but Devsena blew it up again by openly saying that Bahubali should ascend the throne (that statement in itself is equivalent to treason) hence Shivgami’s displeasure once again was directed at Devsena and Bahubali again instead of Bhallaldev. It didn’t help either that small folks started going to Amrendra for star issues when they should be going to their king (that also is a sign of revolt against their king and possible treason). Not to mention Shivgami was being continuously reminded these facts by her husband. Last but not least, Kumar really fucked up by openly trying to kill the king when everyone in the kingdom knows that he’s Amrendra’s best friend and a subject of Kuntala Kingdom (Devsena’s kingdom), not to mention he has Amrendra’s dagger as gift and he came through secret passage that only royal family knows . He should’ve gone to Shivgami instead to propel that Bhallaldev wants to kill Amrendra. That was the last straw of rebellion from Bahubali’s side. Shivgami could’ve got him got publicly but she didn’t because he was respected by all folks and military, their royal line was thin with only Amrendra and Bhallaldev as sole heirs so if anyone were to oppose each other publicly the revolt would destroy the kingdom and their whole dynasty would seize to exist. Last reason was that Bhallaldev would be seen as a tyrant no matter the reason so the king’s name should not be involved in that situation that’s why she herself ordered the death of Amrendra. Her story is tragic with the only mistake was to give in to her prejudice against Devsena and her disappointment against Bahubali. She rather loved him even more than her own son which became her downfall in first place.
Devsena was the real reason behind Bahubali's death. She wasnt smart princess herself and didnt learn how politics work in kingdom thats why she ruined her own life and her karma got her punished for so many years. Bahubali's son still got the throne but with the cost of so many lives to which none was smart enough to fix the family rather fuel it even more. I can understand the queen was blinded becz of her love toward her sons but she was still smart women unlike Devsena who spoke without thinking of the consequence...she just wasn't trained right by her kingdom before dreaming to become a queen. Everyone had their own reason for their bitterness except Devsena who chose to be bitter just to show off herself as a princess. Devsena was the only one who didnt earn her rights besides getting it thru her brother, husband, and then her son.
I would have understood her too only if she didnt reject the proposal so rudely at the beginning knowing her kingdom serves the higher king. Every princess and girls gets proposal but being that rude while rejecting just shows that she wasnt worth to be even considered as likable. Moral of the story, be wise with whom u choose becz she can get u killed. Bahubali knew his own family but he still tried his best to keep peace between everyone while Devsena wanted blood and she got it.
@@Mystic_Libra glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. When I watched these movies as a kid I totally thought Devsena was right on her rage against everyone but when I rewatched these as an adult I was so shocked to realise just how impetuous she was and that her actions lead to the death of her husband, mother in law, her whole kingdom and enslavement of the whole kingdom under Bhallaldev’s feet. Devsena was a war material, she could be strategic but not politician and she proved it time on time. Royal members are representative of their countries, her actions were representing the decisions of her country cause a normal princess can’t brat so much without the approval of superiority. She belittled the prime minister for over exaggerating his country and fortunes when in turn she did the same way. Matter of fact was that she agreed to the fact that her kingdom do was small was compared to a whole ass Empire yet she dared to send a really contemptuous reply instead of politely refusing the proposal. Bhallaldev may have played the game of getting his mother to promise him but it was still Devsena’s decision whether or not to marry him or not. Had she just refused it respectfully as she should’ve as a princess then Shivgami wouldn’t have been hit on ego. Whether she’d like it or not but she’d have to respect that decision while Bhallaldev’s schemes would doom anyway. Baahubali could later use this chance to come back and explain his situation to Shivgami. Shivgami would’ve been conflicted because Bhallaldev also according to her feels for Devsena, there’s nothing she could do if feelings were mutual hence an official proposal would be sent again this time with Bahubali’s name. Even post marriage situation, Devsena did nothing to secure her position as the wife of commander in court. She neither gathered any allies and most of all she made an enemy out of Shivgami by continuously antagonising her and bugging on her wrong buttons. Addition to that openly opposed the king in front of guests from other kingdom which is a really treasonous act and she openly called Setupati a dog, granted Setupati like anyone in the court was an ambitious man but he never opposed of Bahubali either. He just saw more advantages on Bhallaldev’s side but Devsena’s actions made things personal for him and he went out of way to harass her. While he died for his actions but since this situation arises because of Devsena’s outburst in first, Amrendra lost his place not only in court but even his status as a royal member. We can see Devsena did better with normal folks than she ever did in court. Now the problem is, why? Because those people are beneath her even if her own status has demoted to their status. Even if she’d be known for her husband’s status, everyone knows both spouse’s lineage, their characters traits and knowledge are above them. In Kuntana Devsena was above others but in Mahishmati she was beneath them for which she has no one to blame but herself. She knew it the moment their ship came in sight of Mahishmati, when she saw the statue of Elephant, she knew she’ll always be as small as it’s feet. There’s no one in this kingdom whom she can save and be seen as a messiah for that act cause the kingdom was already prosperous and would’ve continued to be prosperous had it not been for Devsena to actually accept her reality. Took her one year to accept it but in that one year she made decisions that costed many lives. I find Devsena’s character to be like Helen of Troy and Danaerys of Game of Throne. She had potentials but arrogance and inability to adapt became her downfall. Compared to her I find Shivgami 10x better who at least had valid reasons and who’s tale could actually be considered a tragedy instead of self destruction that is Devsena.

Dude it's understandable that you felt anger towards Kattappa when he stabbed Amarendra Baahubali as you gotta understand he is a member of a lineage of warriors who serve the royals of Mahishmati with a status equivalent to a slave, but he is the commander and general of Mahishmati's army also it was his duty to secure the king of Mahishmati and he is a slave of the throne.
Also he has to listen to the order of the queen as he's already a sworn member of the throne & he couldn't go against it since his ancestors have been loyal as well, he realises Rajmaatha Sivagami being manipulated (her weakness being anger & rash decisions) by the palace members, however he cannot go against the palace orders so he follows her orders & he bears that sin until he tells the story to the son of Amarendra, Shivudu.

This is regarding kattappa killing Bahubali scene reaction you were telling I dont like Kattappa as he did not help him. You should refer to his introduction scene in part 1 where in they tell about his family how they are dedicated to royal commands of Mahishmati kings for ages. He cannot disobey orders that is against their family rituals. The way he turned in auto pilot mode makes the scene more intense.
