As both a follower of Tom Scott and yours is like to say that I think just because someone else has done a video on it shouldn't mean that you feel you can't. You both bring different experiences and communication styles that it would be unique enough I think...

Out of all of the places in Tallinn, you visited the Linnahall. I really should have seen that one comming!
The building has been abandoned since the end of the Soviet occupation of Estonia, and although its fallen deep into neglect, it is designated as a cultural landmark, wich means, that it is under state protection. While this has kept the building standing, it is also the main problem, that the building is facing, because noone has been able to come up with a proper way to use the old building.
These days, it is known as a decrepid place, that the city cant come up with a use for, and the only reason people visit it, is to look at the sea.
If you want to see a similair building, wich is not fallen into disrepair, and not located on the coast, then you should check out the Estonian National Library, wich is quite an interesting structure to behold from inside and outside.
Thank you for visiting Estonia! Aitäh, et külastasid Eestit!
I'm looking forward to future videos, and hope to see you return to Estonia some day!

@@CaptHollister There's already a museum for that, the Vabamu. Also multiple smaller/more specialised museums and exhibitions.

Just please do not demolish this unique building. There is a lot unnecessary hate to very unique and interesting old buildings in Baltic countries just because they were built during Soviet times. We have demolished and are still demolishing a lot of this historical heritage that will be lost forever just because many patriotic locals hate Soviet occupation past and want to express their feelings, anger and dissatisfaction at innocent objects. They think this will make them happy, but history shows, that destruction rarely leads to positive outcomes and future generations usually miss those relics from the past and despise those who destroyed them. People shallowly think old buildings make us look outdated, poor or part of Russia. This irreplaceable architecture is part of our history and we cannot avoid that. We can try to rewrite or embrace it. Greetings from Lithuania. :)

Congrats on 50k Tim! Maybe not the most interesting of places, but given you did a video on the Beckton Alp, it's worth a shot me mentioning it. Samphire Hoe is a little bit of land on the coast near Dover. It is only accessible by tunnel or precarious steps and was created from all the chalk that was dug from the Channel Tunnel. It's got quite a varied railway history, from the line by Shakespeare Cliff through all the Channel Tunnels including the current one. There's even a place you can see the old 1800s channel tunnel bore near it but not sure how safe it is now (there are videos exploring that on RUclips). It'd be interesting to see a video about Samphire Hoe itself (even worth going as it's a lovely nature reserve).

Okay, I've finally looked up the Baarle-Hertog video by that Tom Scott guy you keep mentioning, and while his discussion of nation states was interesting, I think you definitely have something still to add! Not only your own sense of humour, but also more of a sense of place - I've been to Baarle and part of the fun is definitely walking around along borders and in search of new ones, plus many parts of the village are really pretty, and you don't really get that from Tom Scott's video!

I’m Cypriot and I can tell you the Dhekelia Cyprus Border is really disappointing. Basically, the border isn’t even marked and the “Sovereign Base Areas” aren’t really part of the UK. De Facto it is a part of Cyprus where the UK can nist set up bases. I’ve been to Dhekelia many times as has every tourist, because you need to go through it to reach Protaras and Ayia Napa, the two most popular beach resorts. The only birder marking is a sign which says “Welcome to Dhekelia.” Of course, it’s fascinating for me, a Cypriot, to go there, because I can see all the enclaves and exclaves, but noone else can.

Whole mountainside was accidentally quarried into the profile of a reclining man by a Scottish nutter by the name of Christie in the search for "rottenstone". An interesting place to go to might be the Drachenfels in Königswinter near Cologne (Though obviously Cologne itself is also worth a visit, you get to see a cathedral that took nearly 700 years to build), home to a medieval castle ruin, a 19th century palace, some vineyards and a cog railway run with 1950s vintage EMUs. Right by the Rhine across from Bonn (so about 15 miles from the next international Airport).
So it's a combination of interesting buildings, railways and mountain climbing. Königswinter itself is also a really quaint place.

As a Limburgish person, the 'Holland' thing did stick out to me, but I didn't really get offended by it. It used to bug me, but I'm chill about it now. For me it was incredibly noticable because it was an incorrect name used by a channel all about interesting places, which was odd and out of place.
As for the three uses of the name 'Holland' by Dutch people: those are probably the only times they bug me (and that's an overstatement) because it's fellow Dutchies doing it wrong. Often they're Hollanders too, so you can see why that's sort of an issue :P
In all seriousness though, big fan of the channel already after subbing to it only shortly before the huge wave came. I even sent it to a friend of mine, who subscribed and binged your entire collection of videos. Maybe the two of us will be there when you go to Urk. I'd love to see ya.

You will be able to visit that thin strip in Cyprus Tim. It's part of the ESBA (British eastern sovereign base area), the road runs between Dhekalia and Ayios Nikolaos, the two parts that make up ESBA. It also serves as the border in that part of the island. Anyone who is visiting the Republic of Cyprus can drive along it, there are no points of control between the sovereign base areas and the ROC, apart from the actual military sites. I'll be frank, unless you are a real sucker for border guard posts to either side of a road, there isn't much to see whilst driving along it. Enjoy :D !!!

Ah thanks for the info, much appreciated! It's difficult to find out any details about travelling there, everyone just wants to talk about Cyprus' beaches, night life, and ancient historical sites, can't imagine why...

I went to Cyprus in 2016, rented a car and went to Famagusto on the Turkish Asian part of the island,
passing the small Greek European strip of land with simple fences on either sides.
At the border I had to pay something like €20 for an insurance for 1 day for going into the Turkish part with my rental car.
There is a military base on the wider part at the end of the narrow strip of Greek land.
I tried to go back to the Greek part more south of Famagusta, but there is a Turkish Military zone there.
So, I had to go back the same way along the weird strip of land.
There is also a huge no-go zone south of Famagusta near the coast which was a booming tourist place until the 1960's or so,
when it became a military zone all at once.
Almost all places have a different Greek and Turkish name. Famagusta is called Gazimağusa in the Turkish part.
So, sometimes it's hard to find your way around, especially when they sometimes only use the Greek alphabet.
On the Greek and Turkish roads both one drives on the left side of the road.
Weird if one considers that in Greece and Turkey one drives on the right side.

Ah cheers for the info Dimitri! It's hard to find out much about the border area online. I've seen some drone shots of the no-go zone in Famagusta, and it looks incredible. Would love to do a video there but I think the Turkish military might not be too keen on the idea...

@@TheTimTraveller Your welcome. I don't remember any particular border control at the tide land strip.
You might ask what you can film and what not at the English Dhekelia military base at the wider part at the end of the tide strip of land. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akrotiri_and_Dhekelia
In 1960 Cyprus became independent from England.

Hey Tim, have you considered going to Mt Pilatus in Switzerland? It's got everything important - boat from Luzern, cog railway up the mountain or I suppose you could hike up if you're nuts, then get flung off the other side in an aerial cable car. And of course it's Switzerland!!

Talking about strange borders, I've just read an article about a Hungarian village a few days ago, which has a border in the middle of it, it was divided in two halves, one of them is now in Slovakia, the other is in Ukraine. In the socialist era there was a six metres tall wooden plank on the border to ensure the cutaway family members not to even see the other side. Plus there have been barbed wire fences, guards with dogs just like at the iron curtain to Western Europe.
