My favorite part was the prayer moment. I’m so happy to hear someone say thank you to our lord and savior, Jesus. This thanksgiving, it was just my husband and 4 kids, and a friend of our son, who has never eaten a traditional thanksgiving meal from the Turkey, green bean casserole, corn pudding, pumpkin pie, apple pie, gravy, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, dinner rolls, apple cider. All mostly from scratch. I prayed for the thanksgiving. We had such a wonderful time. The friend said everything was so good. When he left I gave him the extra pumpkin pie I had made and some of the apple pie. It was a special evening for us all. The Lord was good with us this past year. My cancer is in remission and I was able to cook up this feast, my love language.
Thank you for sharing your thanksgiving with us.

my grandparents were lucky to get 15 acres of land when they first moved to ohio where we all live now and they used to grow all kinds of local fruits and vegetables like grapes, squash, strawberries, sunflowers, watermelon, etc. seeing you walk through your garden always makes me think of when i used to go with them and help them with their gardens. 🥰💗

I have the best thanksgiving story ever. In 1976 when I was stationed at fort Bragg North Carolina my wife 2 children and 3 other guys from my unit decided to have thanksgiving at our house. I got paid 275 dollars a month and got paid every 30 days. The turkey came out of the oven looking so good. She was really proud of it until I stared carving it. I cut into it and water just poured out of I said did you thaw it out before you cooked it. As she started to cry she said I didn’t know I was supposed to. That girl couldn’t cook a hotdog and now she’s a dietitian for the veterans administration. That was wife number 1. I stayed in the army for 10 years

I can’t tell you what I enjoyed more… the cooking and lead up to dinner. Granny’s linens and stories. The fixing of plates or the discussions in the background and chatter. Your meal looked delicious!
I think my favorite part was a combination of it all- fixing the plate while listening to background talk and chatter and the warm feeling of the prayer. You can’t deplete that.
I am alone- as you know- and decided I’d get a take out plate - couldn’t eat it. Wont do that again. I mean- it’s fine I’m over it eating alone. However, I’d prefer to have a ham sandwich than try to replace what i remember.
Y’all are very blessed, indeed! Thank you for sharing your day.

You know? If a person didn't have their own Thanksgiving; if they were a Thanksgiving 'orphan' -- away from, or without folks to share it with -- this would go such a long way toward filling the void. I have felt that feeling before, although I've never really been without -- fortunately. But I feel other's feelings, and this was such a VERY nice share. Thank you, Tipster and fam! Thank you so much!

Salting a turkey a day before cooking it is called a dry brine. The salt initially draws the moisture out but then pulls it back in and holds the moisture through roasting. This form of brining actually develops a more moist turkey. Good job!

    Turkey tips
    - carefully cut out wishbone prior to cooking. Make carving turkey breast easy.
    - Spatchcock the turkey. The flattened bird cooks in just two hours or so plus it allows more room in oven while turkey is roasting on bottom slot in oven.

The layer cake is similar to what they call "Smith Island cake" in Tidewater VA---from colonial times. Just imagine our ancestors carrying these recipes and techniques from England/Europe to Colonial Va to Western NC.

I just wanted to say Thank Y’all for allowing me to be apart of your Family’s and celebrating this wonderful time of the year knowing that YaHWeH is the reason we celebrate. Watching your Family gather to visit with one another, the Girls picking and playing brings out the heart of Appalachia and so many memories of yesteryear that it brings a tear of joy to my eye. Watching your family gather around the kitchen table that the Ladies of the house have set and the Family Grand Father or in Y’all’s case Mr. Presley calls the Family into the kitchen table as everyone joins hands bowing their heads as He says the Recognition and Thank You Prayer to YaHWeH Giving Thanks! I will continue to pray for Y’all Daily and again Thanks be to You Mr. & Miss Presley for allowing me a total stranger to be apart of your Holliday Season, Your Friend in Christ Jesus, Steven!

The stack cake looks great. THE most wonderful desert of all time in my opinion! My grandmother used to make one for me for my birthday and made another for the Holidays. The dried fruit is so much better than fresh fruit cakes. I remember helping my grandmother with lifting the pots or cake sheets in her later years due to wrist problems, but she assembled the multi layered cake herself. I was more than happy to help because I knew the outcome would be absolutely wonderful. Sadly, that recipe and talent is almost lost these days. Fried pies are a close second, but it is becoming more difficult to find dried fruit fried pies now. The dried fruit is the key. Luckily there is an apple orchard near Cleveland that still makes dried fruit apple pies. I typically buy a dozen or two every year and freeze them after vacuum sealing to prevent freezer burn. They last almost all year unless my sweet tooth works overtime. Thanks.

Thank you for sharing your Day. I always appreciate seeing videos of Appalachia.
I often look for them on RUclips. I grew up in Newfoundland and the Appalachains run right up North into my province. You ways of living are so kin to my own and I feel a kindred spirit whilst listening to you and it makes me feel homesick , although I did just spend over a month there visiting all my people on my side and my husband's side . And even had Thanksgiving there .... I brought back home to British Columbia some of my eldest sister's homemade Zucchini Pickles.... and the kind of bologna I grew up eating and the wonderful Atlantic cod fish which is used to make our favourite dish of Fish n' Brewis ... eaten by our forefathers when they fished the open waters of the Atlantic. How the foods and the music and the people keep warm and rich our lives no matter how far or how long we are away form home. Thank you to the good man who prayed and said all the important things we give thanks for on Thanksgiving. No wonder it all becomes part of us. It sounded like home. God bless you all.

I love your tip about using sheets for other things, such as a tablecloth or curtain. I found 2 beautiful floral sheets at salvation army and hospice thrift store that I've repurposed as tablecloths 😉. Beautiful Thanksgiving 😍!

When you were gathering the green branches & dried things for your decorations I was drawn to the little dried flowers that you picked. They were perfect for your arrangements. Loved listening to Katie & Corie's music! Hugs!

You got your self a beautiful turkey, I remember those days as a child a house full of family and friends. Now it's just my son and I at 59 years of age. Holidays are better with family and friends and lots of cheerful smiles. I baked and cooked up a storm even if it was us two. Beautiful day. Hugs from VA

I'm from Cherokee County, GA and most of my family lives round Jasper up through Blue Ridge. I've been living in Seoul, South Korea for the past 3 years and I've been terribly homesick as of recent because I haven't been able to enjoy any holidays with my family or any kinda food like I used to. I just found your channel and it honestly brings a tear to my eye hearing and seeing everything. Your accent sounds just like my grandmother who's getting up there in years and I miss her so dearly. We'd always gather up at her house for the Holidays with my cousins and their families and have a big feast together. I honestly don't know when I'll be able to see them again because of how expensive flights are, but I wanna sincerely thank you for posting these wonderful videos. It warms my heart after living in a big city in a foreign country for so long. God bless you and yours, Thanks again

Tipper, I can’t believe you didn’t get a little piece of that dressing that looked soooo good. I was saying “dressing, dressing, you forgot the dressing!” 😂…I like dressing, can you tell. 😆 Hearing everybody chatting and seeing some that gathered reminded me of how my family would all get together at my mom’s house on Thanksgiving. Mom made the Turkey and dressing, sweet potatoes and each family brought the side dish they liked. Her countertops and kitchen table were loaded with food. I sure do miss that time in life and it was also my mom’s birthday so it was extra special time to celebrate. She loved when all us kids and our families came together to just be a family. Cherish every moment with Granny and all your family. Thank you for sharing your family time with us this Thanksgiving. You are blessed!

I love every video ya'll put out, but I do believe this one is my favorite so far!! The table settings were lovely!! And all that food looked soooo good. I've never prepped my turkey to set in the fridge over night but I sure will next year, I dont know why I never thought to do that. LoL the past 30 years I've wrangled that cold bird at 4 a.m. half asleep and waiting for that first pot of coffee to get done! Thank you Tipper for sharing your families Thanksgiving with us.

Catching up with all of you and yours. I'd like to say I absolutely loved the drone going over your land. The beauty of the trees on your property are awesome looking this fall. What a beautiful setting you captured for us. By now Thanksgiving is past, so glad to hear yours was wonderful. I love your touch of gathering what you have grown to, your remnants if you will, that you can bring in and have one last hurrah from it while being thankful to God who provided to ourselves and others this past year.

This is a sweet video. I love to see how other people celebrate. And I like ideas for new things to try too. Like the apple cake and Russian tea. This year was very nice. We just had my son and his wife and kids, my husband , my youngest daughter and myself. I made cranberries, green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, pork loin, pear cake and danishes. My daughter inlaw brought a beautiful pumpkin cheesecake she made. We have a tradition that after Thanksgiving dinner we decorate for Christmas. My granddaughter had a lot of fun with that.

Hi Tipper, it was such a treat to see your family celebrate Thanksgiving and be included in your gathering. I was raised in Upstate New York but my gramma Clum was raised in Appalachia and so much of what you were doing in the video felt warm and familiar to me though it was a long time ago and I live in Seattle now. I got a little misty eyed watching you prepare for the celebration but I broke down and cried when Matt said the blessing. Once again you and your family touched my heart. I am so grateful for what you do. God bless you.🙂
