I am a very long time resident of Astoria New York City. I am an old-timer and have seen a lot. Gentrification is a great idea finally after all these decades. The whole strip along the East River Waterfront Vernon Boulevard starting from 30th Avenue all the way down to Borden Avenue that was all a blighted area when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s. It is nice to see that whole area along that Waterfront with all these new high-rise buildings. That particular area that you were in with this video all the way down by the 7 train that area was a garbage dump we used to go down there to look for cars that was stolen to take parts off to fix our cars back in the 70s. We never have to buy parts for all cars because there was so many stolen cars in that area all along that Waterfront. Considering that was a stone's throw to Manhattan by the 7 train One Stop not too many people wanted to live in that area. Anyway keep up the good work I like looking at all your videos. Very few real estate agents take the time and trouble to do what you're doing keep it up and thank you

@@LawDawg717 my concern is not real estate developers pocket books or investment portfolio. My concern is affordable housing homelessness and gentrification. See I would rather buy than rent, it’s a waste to rent, but you got to be smart to play the game.

Chicago has a program where you can live in a lower-rent unit in a fancy newer build if you make a low enough income, but it is atrocious. The "cheaper" units are still incredibly expensive, (Nearly $1,000 for a 200 sq. foot closet of an apartment) it is difficult to file for, and many people don't know about it either.
Awesome apartments!!! Gotta see if my daughter knows about this one. She's been entering lotteries for apartments in LIC. Thanks for another great video!!!
Cities by and large are not interested in solving homelessness and there will never a concerted effort to get more low waged people housed in decent accommodation.
That won't solve most homelessness. Most homeless people have mental issue and need proper care in insane asylums. In apartments they will hurt and kill people.
Out of the 260ish apartments at Gotham Point there are a total of 5 apartments available at the lowest prices. One studio at $398, two - one bedrooms at $503 and two - two bedrooms at $598 are available.
Gotta love the 7 minute walk that wasn't because Cash got lost. Lol. Those apartments do look nice. Have to wonder how long before move in. The rents sound great but the LOTTERIES? If you're not from NYC you don't have any idea how hard it is to get an apartment through the lottery system. So many applicants & the criteria is not easy to pass. I'm sure if you go onto the website it will tell you exactly how many apartments are available based on income
My daughter's been trying for a year to get into a LIC apartment. Since we're already in Queens she's not in a super rush, but she really wants her own place.
I have been trying( and waiting) to hear back from these lotteries places and I fear you are right about if you're not already in NYC its damn near impossible to get into a place. I live a few states away from NY and I applied over 6 months ago and still havent heard anything.

Always say low income or rent stabilized and when you apply you never get call and next thing they are renting the apartment from $1,500 and higher.🤔🤪😉😕😟🙁☹️😣
This is beautiful. More cities need stablized apartment living like this for everyone. I really hope the people who end up in these apartments really appreciate the living space and take care of it for the people after them.
Rent Stabilized isn't the same as Rent Control landlords get a tax break from the city for RS apartments. There are different types of RS some of which only last for a certain period of time then the apartment goes to market rate. Read the small print or give a copy of the lease to a lawyer to find out what type of RS the apartment has for your own protection. These videos leave a lot of information out so the old adage 'Buyer Beware' is always applicable when renting apts in NYC!
Yup! It is best to review the contract, the apartment and the area with the real-estate lawyer to ensure that the apartment management do not take advantage of you.
As a NY'er, heres some context to the click baity title. $300 is for people who apply to NYC's low- income housing lotto. Most likely rent in this new building for a Studio is around 1200-1500$ and for people who qualify for low income housing can get a Studio apt for $300 a month. 1 bedrooms probably going for low-income applicants for $900-1200. Also, not a fan of the majority of these new high rise, "luxury" apartments. The Sq. Footage is atrocious. Studios probably less than 500sqft and 1bdrms are around 700-800sqft. The luxury comes in the form of amenities, IE: gym, outdoor views with shared Grill, doorman, and parking lot. Oh oh also, That train stop (7 Train) There are weekends where it will not stop in that station due to track maintenance so the only way is by shuttle bus a few stops away.
The London boroughs are too busy selling off every last scrap of land they own to big developer, and then spend billions on buying homes at market prices and for temporary accommodation. I follow a blogger who writes about the goings on in Greenwich and Lewisham boroughs and it makes me angry how little commitment there is to poor, working people.
The government have managed to try and skew its figures on house building. Social housing in the UK was one of the great advances. They screwed that up, by introducing 'right to buy' and then not reinvesting the money. Its all about profit and lining the pockets of the rich. I have a council flat, and I know how very very lucky I am.
Hey! Tiny little request... Could you do these and include if they allow pets? It's my biggest issue when I move and it would be really cool of you to include. ♥

Thank you for posting this with the lottery link! It's hard for me to keep track of all of them and get an application in on time, so this is super helpful. Hopefully you do more of these.
80/20 apartment lotteries are extremely hard to get into! They probably receive thousands of applicants that meet the guidelines and then the “winners” are selected by lottery. The number of available units is limited to 20% of all units in the building and that list fills up fast. Their waiting lists are many years long!

This rent stabilized thing is fantastic. I live in Utah and maybe it's time we implement that here as real estate has shot through the roof over the last few years. I'm thankfully older and established but I have serious worries about how my kids will ever get their own place.

It is important to NOTE that it take on average seven years plus to get into a RENT STABILIZED APARTMENT in NYC. Thus, it might look nice and it is nice. It is a long, long, long wait for the lucky ones to snag such an apartment. Additionally, what the developers get is an incentive from the city to build and thus incorporate Mitchell Lama percent of the building for the working class. Thus, it is estimated on average that the building is 20% I believe. The rest pay the market rent of some 3/4/5K plus per month.
$300, $500 a month? Whoa, finally something cheaper than what's in the Midwest! And they're really nice. Subsidized apartments around here are horrible.
Ahhh NYC lotteries....here's a story of how they work: Back in the mid 90's, there was a lottery to get your child into a prestigious school which would be free all the way through the end of high school. My aunt had 4 kids, and a husband who is probably floating in the Hudson River, but I digress. She entered the lottery for her fourth child, and only daughter. Her lottery number was 65. Behind the scenes, my dad was calling every connection he had to help her "win". At the lottery, they were calling all high numbers 300+ and over. Aunt Marie called my mom and said "I will never get called". My mom said just sit there! Lo and Behold the last winning number was 65!!! Oh what a surprise!! This is a true story!! Cash I love this building, and the area...I would live there now!!! I was sold before the tour though. The corner neighborhood bar (O'leary's I think) and the bong store had me sold!! Love the video, huggsssss!!!
Hey Cash, love the 3 bedroom! Even @ the highest tier it still affordable! When can I move in? The bedroom views are beautiful with the river! 👀 Oh I must bring with me, my mussels & fries, I just got in the mood for the combo! 🤔✌🏼🗽🏙

Very few real estate agents take the time and trouble to do what you're doing keep it up and thank you
Could you imagine this apartment at night with the right lighting an ambiance.. it would be absolutely spectacular.. this is probably one of the best apartments and best apartment tour I have seen..
That housing will go very fast Cash. Thanks for showing some housing that is affordable. Love the way your channel is growing. Thanks for all your hard work. Merry Christmas!
Its a lottery, Its technically not "low income housing. You have to "win"first/ be picked against hundreds of thousands of other NYC applicants, THEN you have to go through a whole process just to accept you. They are specifically called "lottery" apartments for a reason.
Good job on affordable housing. I hope more States implement rent stabilization like this. Homelessness is unbelievable high in Nashville.
Rent stabilization will only decrease the supply of apartments. Who wants to spend millions only to lose money on their investments?
@@LawDawg717 my concern is not real estate developers pocket books or investment portfolio. My concern is affordable housing homelessness and gentrification. See I would rather buy than rent, it’s a waste to rent, but you got to be smart to play the game.
@@OliveVlog If you're so concerned, then spend millions of your own money on building apartments to lose money on.
New York homeless shelters give them 1 way tickets here. I work with the homeless in Asheville and have heard that same free one way ticket story hundreds of times over the years.
@@LawDawg717 that's what's going on in Atlanta. If you price out apartments higher than what people are or can afford, what you think going to happen.
Amazing how you try to talk smart, but yet don't understand the bigger picture
This one is gonna go quick once it hits the market! Rent stabilized and a good view from the windows and decent space.
Nice apartment that's actually reasonably priced.
They both will!
They do lotteries for these apartments. They never hit the market. Tens of thousands of people apply for each apartment
@@peterwelby oh interesting. Not from NY didn't know that.
@@sundinfamforlife4129 you really thought they would put a place like this up for 300? Lol
This apartment is a DREAM 😍😍 Thank you for showing us!
If they could make more rent stabilized apartments, it could solve a lot of the homelessness
🤗
So true!
Cities by and large are not interested in solving homelessness and there will never a concerted effort to get more low waged people housed in decent accommodation.
Income level is below poverty line when monthly rent is only $300.
With a population just under 8.5 million that should cover it.
Where is that location?
@@Kangaruworld1 Address: 1-15 57th Ave, Queens, NY 11101
How do you apply for one of those apartments
Gotta love the 7 minute walk that wasn't because Cash got lost. Lol. Those apartments do look nice. Have to wonder how long before move in. The rents sound great but the LOTTERIES? If you're not from NYC you don't have any idea how hard it is to get an apartment through the lottery system. So many applicants & the criteria is not easy to pass. I'm sure if you go onto the website it will tell you exactly how many apartments are available based on income
My daughter's been trying for a year to get into a LIC apartment. Since we're already in Queens she's not in a super rush, but she really wants her own place.
@@panamasrose it's really next 2 impossible & the rents there are thru the roof.
@@MamaCarola1 But not impossible, so keep trying.
I have been trying( and waiting) to hear back from these lotteries places and I fear you are right about if you're not already in NYC its damn near impossible to get into a place. I live a few states away from NY and I applied over 6 months ago and still havent heard anything.
edit: I applied whenever the lottery opened and I did not realize the building was still in construction!
I'm addicted to your tours of NYC apartments bro! Dying to visit.
I applied last month...fingers crossed!!!!
Where do I apply for this??
Wish we had rent stabilize in California
I love the people realizing and then running away from you filming :-) so sweet
I went to Gotham Point and it’s amazing, hope anyone and including myself can get that rent stabilized apartment.
These are gorgeous. I hope whomever gets to live here really understands how blessed they are. I so wish I could do this. Thanks for showing.
Yes to all of it. Amazing apartments, prices & location. I'd be happy living there.
RUclips just sent me this. This video is a great example of how you combine speaking to the camera with recording the environments such that I can really "see" what's going on. Thank you!
They will have so many entries for those apartments, good luck folks. Very nice 😊
YEP, I JUST DID, THANK YOU
I applied to the lottery for this building. Fingers crossed 🤞 I am running out of rental options. Hope it works out! That would be such a blessing 🙌 🙏
How about not living in one of the most expensive cities in the world? Is that not an option?
At $300 a month, I wouldn't be moving anywhere else!
I really appreciate your videos. I don’t even live in New York, but I still love your channel. Also, thanks for going into depth when you show the locations.
WOW...can't beat rent stabilized apartments...and new ones at that!!
but is it in a flood plane?
I'm actually blown away how cheap the rent can be for such a nice building.
Always say low income or rent stabilized and when you apply you never get call and next thing they are renting the apartment from $1,500 and higher.🤔🤪😉😕😟🙁☹️😣
Nice to see CJ taking us along in exploring affordable stabilized rentals. It’s so needed especially in NY!
I will never go back to NYC, but this guy is so entertaining I can't help but watch.
Wowww, finally super beautiful and affordable living😍 Love your channel!
Badass apartments. They should definitely have more of these available for people. It’s ridiculous the prices that they get away with charging
They get away with charging what they charge because people pay it. If people didn't pay it, prices would lower.
Wow--NYC needs more of these! Thanks for making us aware,&for considering all groups of people,Cash...
I think this is the first place I would actually move my daughter and me too in NY! Love it and could actually afford it!!! 😍
That building’s seriously amazing and it’s Rent Stabilized? Holy Moly Batman!! 💥💥💥
This is beautiful. More cities need stablized apartment living like this for everyone.
I really hope the people who end up in these apartments really appreciate the living space and take care of it for the people after them.
Amazing rent stabilized option. We need more of these.
I love these and the view!! I’m a New Yorker living in Texas want to move back yesterday!!! Thank you
These apartments are great and affordable too, NYC needs more.
I think these are the most beautiful apartments you've ever shown ! With a view like that! WOW!!!❤❤❤
Oh oh also, That train stop (7 Train) There are weekends where it will not stop in that station due to track maintenance so the only way is by shuttle bus a few stops away.
wish there was something like this in London but, no chance.
Couldn't agree more
I happen to live in Lewisham and its getting bad..
@@FakeTaxi_ I grew up in Eltham. I live in the US now and for all America's shortcomings, things seem a little easier here.

I am not sure, how this became a suggested in feed, but one is entirely grateful! Great work, Cash!
I love this. I applied over a week ago. If I decide to move back to NYC...Will be difficult to get especvially first preference is to NYC residents. The next tower to be built will have a senior wing as well. Not there yet but good to know. Will have to be fortunate to get in and be approved. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Great channel Cash! Great sense of humor as well. Keep it up.
What an amazing tour, thanks Cash. I loved that building, I'd certainly live there. I really love these videos. 🙂
So cool, would love to live in a building like that, location is also not bad, good luck to those who have entered the lottery!
Ideal location, easy commute, great neighborhood shops, and insanely low stabilized rent.
I hope that folks who need those low cost apartments get them... I'm on the west coast.

Holy moly! Cannot believe those flats are at the price they are. Amazing. Had a great rent controlled flat in Manhattan before I left in 2003. 173rd Street, built in the 1920's, so big one bedroom, entryway, separate kitchen, huge living room & nice bath with a big tub. View of the Hudson & Washington bridge, park across the street. $775. Those days are gone.
Thanks man. I just applied and it was easy breezy. There is only a general preference for residents of NYC but it is not restrictive. If you live out of the State of NY, you can still apply.

If you work in midtown on the east side, there’s an east river ferry terminal nearby so you can use that instead of the subway.
This is my favorite video I've seen by you yet! Cuz you were for real in this. I mean maybe you're for real in other videos too I don't know but you were definitely keeping it real here. for one lease period. eventually you can and will be pushed out of a place like this, rent control is not the solution.
This would be the dream right here. Noce neighborhood, on the water. Everything you could want feom life. Sunlight for plants. Its absolutely incredible
I could go for these apartments. Something I think I could afford. Nice view.
LIC is my absolute favorite. Thanks for sharing 🗽
FYI The lowest rent is a $397 per month studio; there's only one available. No $300 per month units. But they do accommodate a wide range of incomes. Not a bad deal.
I wish you would slow down and show the appliances and bathrooms more, like you do the others. Thank you I love your videos!

Nice studio, and it had two closets I'm. That's almost unheard of. It's beautiful and very spacious, and for $300
rent-stabilized you're practically living there for free, but you're not 😊
That line cracked me up! 🤣🤣
So those paying 3/4/5K plus per month don't work and earn their money?
Mike Mike someone affording those rents is earning close to 10k a month which is not considered working class at all
My husband is an electrician and makes that. How is that not working class?
