Thank you for posting this. I lived in NJ 1982-3 with my family . Although a train fan at the time, particularly of the CNJ, it was only after we left that I became away of the Rahway Valley RR, at the time still in operation. Nostalgia for things I never saw...
Much of those tracks you saw were brand new as of 2005 and 2006 when either state or county officials were trying to reactivate the railroad in the hopes of bringing businesses back to the Kenilworth area. Even the tracks across from Rt. 22 going North were brand new. Of course a lot of money was spent and it failed because the residents of these towns fought the reactivation.
Saw more than a few trains make that crossing on Rte. 28 on the way to or from my grandmother's house off Westfield Ave in Roselle Park coming to or from the parkway. Still remember the station at Aldene as well. had an aunt and uncle who lived in those apartments as well in Roselle Park. Thankks for the memory.
I would have loved to see the Aldene junction in action. Thank you for watching , keep an eye on news about the new rail to trail being built on this line
thanks for stopping by, lots going on around the rails to trails movement in union county. www.goleader.com/rails-to-trails-initiative-gets-100000-grant/?fbclid=IwAR0lz7w5R8o_yfWW8WoM0TdC-PWFqjKyC4-XZSZtphkuGnPOFS7MkMscPFA
Very interested in these segments . . . I belong to Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael in Springfield . . . which borders the part of the RVLR just East of where the trail ends in Summit. How/can that trail be extended into Springfield?

We’re hoping to get a rails to trail from Roselle park all the way to summit . It would be nice to keep the heritage of the RVR in the process
Woah!! I gotta ride this!!! Thanks for sharing

i half expected you and the camera to go boucing along the ties in the beginning, but thanks for chronicling this for 2021
I thought about doing it, but the bicycle would be a goner 😂
I love Rahway Valley Railroad, I’ve been researching about it a lot, I wish they could restore the line along with a trail on the side
would be a great rail trail hope it comes to pass in the near future
Thank you so much for taking the time to video the trail - it's a big help in envisioning how great it will be!
The time is now, thank you for your enthusiasm, spread the word :)
