This was great to see from this view, I live on Amsterdam Ave. I cross the Gordon street bridge every day and wonder why haven't someone made use of that old railway. I can remember when there was a train station in Roselle where the CVS now sits and taking the train from Plainfield (my hometown) to Elizabeth. One particular train ride from Plainfield to Roselle to visit family, the train went up and embankment and crossed over Westfield Ave. At 15 years old I wondered what happened, I was told I should get off in Roselle Park if I wanted to go to Roselle. Thankfully I knew streets enough, to get to where I was going. I started taking the bus after that till I got a driver's license.

I used to walk those tracks to cranford and play on them too as a kid lol. We'd jump onto the conrails that were going slow enough and climb into that bridge to catch the wind when they came by.

Amazing what can change in 2 years (to the exact date). Both Romerovski buildings are gone, as well as the Gordon Street Bridge, Wawa is done. The second Meridia is open, and
construction continues on the new "luxury rentals" at the old Sullivan Chevrolet site.

:32 Until recently I worked for the concrete company that poured some of that site at least! I've driven up and down this way for decades, but it's so different to orient yourself from the sky. I remember the company was Romerovski Bros., there was some strike/labor action outside in the '80s, after that.....was just Romerovski. Whatever happened, IDK. I know I remember that long-gone railyard along the way too. :(
LindenRd.=the only way I could cross over from one side to the other driving trucks!! And that transmission shop on the corner there and 28's been there forever. Got one of my trannies going again around 1984(Plymouth)!!

I remember the transmission shop because they had an actual transmission hanging up on the pole. I shot many train photos on Linden Ave.

Why stop there? Why not continue the trail to at least Rte 1/9?

Because Conrail still owns the line, it's never been abandoned. From Catherine St to E-Port is still active, it's used for the rail yard on Trumbull.
