I always felt like Yuki never fit in the story. From what I saw it was mainly about Zero and Kaname. But with Yuki in the story, it was really hard to find the plot because with her in, characters became really muddled.

Shinji Ikari's whole deal is that he is clinically depressed but everybody smart enough to recognize this leaves him in an untreated state of poor mental health because he is more manipulatable to accomplish their desired tasks for them. Shinji himself recognizes this and becomes more depressed, a positive feedback loop of depression because he gets more depressed because he is depressed, which leads up to the mental breakdowns and self loathing he gets up to in the finale of the series. Shinji is much less annoying to viewers that can relate and empathize with experiencing depression, but I do understand that it is very difficult for many people to even imagine the feelings involved and to pass it off as "whiny".
The thing is... Yuki Cross/Kuran had so much potential to be a good female lead and even a badass. But NO, the author decides to make her a bad indecisive and useless girl who constantly switches sides from Kaname to Zero and drops her weapon every time she's supposed to fight. *sigh 😒

Misa may be considered annoying to some but I find her to be a very tragic character. So her parents die and she only has Kira to cling onto life for since he took revenge for her. She goes out of her way only to meet him and thank him from the bottom of her heart for what he did for her, even if it cost her her life since she has no reason to live anymore. Then she finds Light is Kira. She is willing to do ANYTHING for him even if he uses her which is tragic itself. She would die for him, kill everyone in the world for him and he only uses her. And when he dies, she has nothing to live for and jumps off a bridge. I get that the whole moe shit would be annoying coming from her and her acting like a stereotypical bimbo 😂 but her story is purely a tragedy.... BUUUT I AGREED WITH EVERYTHING ELSE ON THE LIST ESPECIALLY MISS TSUNDERE FFS 😡
I’m more neutral when it comes to Misa. She may not be my favorite, but I can’t say I hate her. She does have her moments of smartness, and could be a potential threat to anyone. But I don’t think she had many moments to shine because Death Note only focused on Light and L. Misa was there, just not as big a part as we wanted. Much like Naomi Misora, she had to be played down as stupid or else she could have beaten light, which would have caused all sorts of complications. (Not even going to address how Tusgami Ohba made the women in the story far inferior to men. Even though the reason he added Misa was because he didn’t want his story to be mistaken for Yaoi, which if you aren’t going to make even a slightly comprehensible woman, why bother?) sorry for the rate, I do believe Misa was done dirty though. She’s not annoying, she just doesn’t get the chance to truly develop or have a lot of moments for herself.

But yeah I definitely agree with u and I think it’s one of the many patterns I noticed that kinda turned me off from many anime. The women are usually downplayed in a sexist way either as Mrs Fanservice (which aight fair Im a bi dude so why not, but sometimes it’s overdone) or plain stupid, which I think ain’t fair (Naruto, DB and most shonens for example). There are ofc many anime where there are badass women but damn this trope is done a lot, Misa sadly being one of them XD I totally agree tho.

Let this be clear that I am NOT an LGBTQ hater, but this kind of fandom mindset is getting way too old and too unnecessary. There are men out there who can form a deep bond with other men that doesn't have to be necessarily romantic, or just stay as rivals or enemies. Ah Louise. In the real world, she could be arrested (for clear domestic violence) But, Umaru - Chan is someone I consider the MOST annoying anime character. Alois is as twisted as he is because of Claude and the way he was treated prior to meeting him. This doesn't redeem him but, I would argue that the reason people hate Alois is the same reason personally that I hate Claude but, I also think that the second season of black butler was a bit of a jumbled mess.

Poor Shinji, to be fair though he is dealing with a mental illness (depression) and doesn't get the proper support he needs to overcome it which is why his character never really grows. Its actually pretty realistic character development. When you're depressed everything feels dark and miserable and its like a black hole you can't escape. I actually find him interesting because he is technically a "hero" but is realistically one of the most unheroic characters ever.
Aside from all the depression and mental health issues, Shinji literally did nothing wrong! He saved the world like 15 times in one year and no one bothered to thank him. Literally everyone around was trying to manipulate him, and the worst part was he knew it at the very core.

Finally I find a list about annoying anime charters with Louise as number one. I have always hated her most of all. But let me just tell you something, the anime makes her better then she actually is. Louise comes from a light novel, and she's even worst in that. First off, we all know she's a complete idiot, probably the dumbest in the entire serious. No matter how clear as fucking day it is that Saito didn't do anything, she'll still act like a bitch. In the light novel she decided to throw a rock at his head when Siesta tried to kiss him, and when Derfliner said he could have died she just said he's 10 years too earlier to be flirting with other girls. When she bloom up the class room in the first volume and the teacher asked her to clean up as punishment, she barely did anything and made Saito do all the work. Never once is she fair despite the fact she owns him for saving her worthless life so many times. But she'll never learn no matter how many times she's wrong, which she is every time. I first started watching the anime in 2012, and because of her I have trouble not hating so many anime girls. Well, to be fair the anime girls I hate deserve it I find, but the fact is she triggered a hate inside me I never knew.

You know, I like sometimes reading crossover fics where Louise summons someone other than Saito. Especially the ones that force her to face reality before they even entertain the thought of even helping her.
Set2Seth I like to read To Teach a Zero and I Will Summon a Dragon. Both of them are Elder Scrolls crossovers where Louise summons the dragonborn, although with different storylines. To Teach a Zero features an old Nord man who becomes Louise’s mentor (as in, ”you wanna learn from me? It’s my way or the highway).The other one has a Bosmer(wood elf) who is pretty hilarious and doesn’t really take crap from anyone. Both of these are found on fanfiction.net. Other times there are fics where the summoned alternate Familiar is pretty much screwing with Louise, sometimes without even trying(kinda like doing something that is ”socially unacceptable” and the alternate Familiar tilts their head, ”Why?”).
I know The Witch's Zero by Vantroz. It is a crossover of Familiar of Zero, and Touhou Project. Louis summons Patchouli, and Patchouli agrees to make the Louis her apprentice. It stopped continuing, but I liked that Louis gets trapped in rocks.
The problem with Alois Trancy's character is mainly the sudden revealed backstory. It was completely out of place and honestly quite unnerving. Did he have a tragic past? Yes. Is that a reason to like him? Not really. The need to pull the 'oh has been through soo much shit you *must* like him' - card is overdone and lazy. The director and producer of a show are supposed to make certain characters likeable without these methods. Characters like Claude have no other purpose than being despised, well at least for the majority of viewers. But if you intend to make a protagonist/antagonist popular amongst the audience you should better focuss on writing better. Not to mention that Alois is kind of a Mary Sue from Ciel. *S P O I L E R* Just look at Undertaker. He's probably the favourite antagonist of Kuroshitsuji at the moment and we didn't get to see a single thing about his past other than him being a former reaper.
Plus, Yeah he has a sad backstory. So did Ciel. Ciel is roughly his age so the "OMGZ BTU HES TOO YOUNG HES JUST A BABY" is automatically overruled. Also, sure. Ciel smacked Sebastian once or twice, but at least he didn't gouge out his eye. Its like saying Ciel can Mutilate Mae Rin because he had a bad childhood. He abuses both mentally and physically, gets everything handed to him by spiderman, and in the end ruins everything.

With Nina (Code Geass), I want to bring up an issue that occasionally comes up: Having part of a character's backstory available on a website but not mentioned in the show itself makes things needlessly complicated. If it's important enough to make it part of their character, bring it up in the show so that the viewers know what happened to them, don't just leave it online and hope that people will read about it. I want to know why she's afraid of the Japanese within the show itself, not outside it. Show, don't tell.
Shinji’s mental breakdown can be perfectly summed up in the hospital scene He nearly killed his friend, killed the only one that he actually believed in, resulting in his current state of having a fucked up mind He knows that he needs help, which is why he turned to asuka, begging for her to become concious in that scene I agree, there are characters like eren who lives in pretty much the same kind of world But the difference is eren actually wants to kill titan where as Shinji doesn’t. He does that because he is forced to And if i were to be forced into doing something and facing countless traumatic events as a result, i’m sorry but i would wanna get the fuck out as soon as possible
I always think that people that hate Shinji are either people that had no psychological/family/anykind of problems in life or people that have them and they make themselves feel better with bullying characters like he is. Yelling at people with severe depression, stuff like "stop being so selfish", "just stop being like this", "stop being a crybaby", just makes it worse and a lot of times it could end in suicide. Put yourselves in his shoes and then have your friend tell to you "whe, whe, your mommy has died? and your daddy doesn't love you, whe, whe". And then you have to save the world, one mistake and everyone is dead. Greater reason/threat doesn't nullify all your lesser psychological problems, it multiplies them. And all three main characters (plus a lot of side ones) represent how people cope with problems, but I guess it is hard to explain to someone that has no problems, or just doesn't want to admit he/she has them.
Yeah no this doesn’t hold water. There are plenty of people who have problems who dislike this guy. Including me. He is annoying, not because he had depression, but because of how the show handled said depression. We don’t really see anything from him apparat from whining, and I actually enjoy characters who have depression who are handled well like Kaladin from Stormlight Archives. Now that’s a mulitifasceted depiction I can root for.

Equality in the military, you are able to get any job a male does(which many of you choose not to pursue), it been against the law for years to pay someone different base on race, sex, disability and orientation. Some people can handle the pressure and others can't. It's not unrealistic for both since. In. A book I'm writing, my main character Kolbalt who's 15, can somewhat handle the pressure, but he also has his friends to help him. And when you are also in a relationship with one of them, you learn to fight pretty damn quick to defend not just them but all of your friends. It's a heaven vs hell, angels vs demons thing. Also Kolbalt loses his family and that drives him with rage, and it shows in his emotion at FIRST, he mans up later and well...gets his revenge XD.
I am seriously so sick of all the hate lambasted towards Shinji Ikari (and I only just got into NEON GENESIS EVANGELION last month). Here's what many people fail to understand about Shinji: He's not a whiny, self-indulgent emo, but rather, Shinji is a traumatized youth who suffers from depression and self-dependency issues. Depresssion is a complex psychological condition that goes beyond simple whining, and unfortunately in many cases, there is no cure. So to the people who keep telling Shinji, "STOP WHINING AND GET IN THE ROBOT!" need to realize that simply telling someone like him to "get over it" is not going to do anything to help. The reason Shinji keeps coming back to piloting the EVA despite complaining about how much his life sucks and how much the people around him suck, is because he lacks any self-esteem or confidence in himself. As such, he feels that since he's worthless, he can only be useful when being completely subservient to people like Gendo and Misato, and by in large, gain approval from them and therefore find some sort of attachment to other people (and in turn, find meaning in his existence). Because he was abandoned by Gendo when he was only 4 years old for reasons beyond his comprehension, he began to see his own existence as a toxic influence on others, believing that he was a worthless burden who only brought harm onto others. This correlates with a psychological state of mind known as Hedgehog's Dilemma, in which one wants to have contact and bonds with others, but just like the spines on a hedgehog, will only end up hurting others when coming into close contact. This problem is evident with Shinji throughout the series, as when he does end up making friends with Misato, Rei, Asuka, Toji, and Kawrou, the majority of the time they end up injured or dead because he was either unable to do anything to help them, or was the direct cause of said tragedies like with Kawrou. And to address the criticism that Shinji is being selfish by putting his own problems ahead of the Angel attacks, my response is that that's kind of the point. Yes the Angels are threatening NERV headquarters constantly, and Shinji is fully aware that it's more important than curling up in a ball and shutting himself off from the rest of the world. He acknowledges that his behavior is selfish. But as I said earlier, depression is not an easy thing to overcome, and even when Shinji does want to step up and pilot the EVA, he lacks the confidence that he is capable of doing so without bringing harm to those he cares about, again going back to the Hedgehog's Dilemma. Simply put, even when we are aware of bigger problems occurring that make our personal ones seem insignificant in comparison, we are never always going to respond to the bigger and far more important issues as some times we can't escape the illusion of enormity that our personal conflicts create in our minds. It's just simple human nature, and all people experience it at some point in their lives in one form or another. So in a nutshell, Shinji's angst is far deeper than simple whining, and is in reality, a high realistic depiction of how would experience depression, feelings of self-loathing and worthlessness, as well as the dangers of isolating oneself from society and basic human contact. And it ties in directly to the main plot of EVANGELION as when Shinji finally gains confidence in himself and finds meaning to his existence, he's able to reject Instrumentality and preserve humanity's future in the wake of the Third Impact. In essence, Shinji's personal issues later become symbolic for humanity as a whole, and whether or not the human race is worthy of existence or redemption as the series progresses. That's where the genius of Shinji Ikari, and practically the entire narrative of NEON GENESIS EVANGELION, truly lies...
Oh and to answer why Gendo had Shinji pilot EVA-Unit 01 despite knowing how psychologically damaged his son was? Shinji was the only person capable of piloting Unit 01 as the soul of Shinji's mother, Yui Ikari, had bonded itself to the EVA, and would only accept her son and no one else...
notsosxechris I actually don't mind Asuka, as she's purposefully meant to be an egotistical jerk, which served as a great foil to Shinji's more introverted attitude. If there was any character I hated in NGE it would undoubtedly be Shinji's father Gendo, as he is a complete a**hole and one of the worst parents I've ever seen in fictional media!
I'd argue that it was done intentionally with Asuka, as nearly every character in EVA has at least some unlikable qualities. The thing is that we're not always meant to sympathize with them, but we're at least meant to understand why these characters behave the way that they do and what caused them to be this way. In that regard, Asuka is by no means a bad character (as she clearly has depth and three-dimensional development)... she simply just one whose not going to appeal to everybody. And I totally understand that!

Not saying it's going to change your feelings on the character herself, but it will explain everything about why she acts the way she does... and in a pretty messed up fashion I might add...

I strongly agree with you, I have had self hatred that gave me suicidal thoughts and fantasies. It wasn't until I joined a military school with people who cared about me, that I finally started to understand myself, and my artistic potential. But throughout my life as a teen, I've been having severe depression that still plagues me to this day. I hate seeing people like this who think that teenagers are just edge punks who like rebellion. In truth, teenagers are going through puberty, and at this stage, they can't control themselves, or their feelings, which results in things like depression, anxiety, and self hatred which can lead to suicide. Teenagers are really just misunderstood, and need love.

A problem I have with anime in general is that there are often major characters who are unflattering, annoying, or outright unlikable to Western audiences. Because Japan has an extremely different culture with different values than us, what they may find funny, we may find annoying, and what they may find noble or admirable, we may find anything but. Thankfully our cultural barriers doesn't keep us from enjoying anime, and there are plenty of characters that both Japanese and Western audiences can agree on - whether they're good or terrible characters.
I just found out that, years ago, I said Vampire Knight was one of my favorite animes. No. Past me. No. You don't know. You- you don't. You think this- **shoots past me** No. You don't know. Yuki really wasn't even necessary to the story -even less when she became a vampire. She hardly became a vampire, she just became a prick. She doesn't forward the plot and the writer could have easily made the story about Zero, Kaname, and Shizuka.

Asuka's also a loud, obnoxious, pompous, arrogant, demanding brat who fails at virtually everything, treats others like they are beneath her, and yet somehow she's pretty much worshipped by Eva fans everywhere! And before anybody says anything, yes, I'm aware of Asuka's background, but that doesn't justify her abusiveness, brattiness, and blatant refusal to take so much as an ounce of responsibility for her actions, preferring to blame everything on everyone else. If you ask me, Asuka deserves to land on this list way more than Shinji (and on a sidenote, I never found Shinji to be whiny - merely quiet and having a great deal of trouble with interacting and dealing with others.)
I despise Tsunderes but I will come right out and say Asuka gets a pass in my book because she how you write a character like that. What do I mean by that? At the end of the series she implodes from her own awfulness, and actually suffers the consequences of being a shit. Unlike other characters like her, her horrible attitude is NOT portrayed as a funny quirk. They didn't makes excuses for her and say "Well she's rough on the outside but deep down she's got a good heart." That would be bull shit. The only reason anyone put up with her is because she could pilot an EVA, and she KNEW that just as much as they did. She knew people were often just putting up with her, So she put all her eggs in one basket. Unlike other people who create support systems based on friendship, and helping others, and becoming the kind of person they'd want to help in return, she just tried to be the best, and when she could no longer do that, at the most all she had was pity. People who are just rude and mean to others have no choice but to be the best of the best at what they do because no one will put up with them otherwise. No one likes some who talks shit and can't deliver. That's my take on her at least. I will take a horrible character who gets what they deserve at the end over an annoying character who has excuses made for their shitty behavior every single time.

nononono Alois Trancy and Shinji Ikari both had horrible pasts, it's completely NATURAL for them to act that way. Alois had even worst childhood than Ciel, so of course he's messed up. And it's sad when people call Shinji whiny. The way he reacts to things is very realistic considering his age and background. He's also really brave, because even though he's scared he does what people expect from him. It would be really annoying and unrealistic if these characters would NOT be messed up.

FF nut i liked her until light joined the task force. She got a bit better later on but near the end of the anime when all she did was whine, yell, get drunk, be imature and act like a spoilt, obesive, fangirl, diva! Anime review people on youtube don't add the characters from ongoing anime because they are too long. Like Bleach, Naruto, One Piece or Fairy Tail. It's not that the anime isn't good it's that it is way to long to get a good grasp on it.

I just finished watching Code Geass (great anime by the way) and honestly...I don't think Nina was as bad as you're claiming her to be. She's hardly seen around on the show, she wasn't as over-the-top or overly annoying and she regretted her mistakes. If anything, I didn't find her annoying in the slightest. Yeah okay...that table scene was messed up and in my opinion had no point to it since clearly Nina already made it clear she deeply admire the princess, but other then that, I thought she was okay. Not perfect, but not as annoying as you guys are making her out to be.

In defense of Hercule, he was kinda there as a more human element of the show. Yeah, he's fucking useless against these mega-aliens from fucking who knows where this time, but what do you expect? He's human, depressingly so. He knows damn well he doesn't stand a fucking chance out there, but he *has* to go and do it, because Earth needs a hero, and that hero has always been him. He's not used to the role, and he's abrasive because of that, but at least he tries. And yeah, it probably sucks that none of the others get any recognition (not that half of them really care), but Mr. Satan is a long-established "hero of Earth", while the rest of them, to outside eyes are just... a bunch of strangers, many of them the very aliens that were once a threat to them. Plus, do not get him wrong. Hercule is NOT weak. He was, and remains to be, the strongest non-Ki using human in the world. This guy could kick your ass, and your entire family's ass, but because he's so hopelessly, hopelessly outclasses by these *literal planet destroyers* that he has to face on an almost *yearly* basis, there's really nothing he can do but resort to cheap tricks. Plus, we're talking about the guy that taught a genocidal pink abomination empathy here. I don't think you can call him a complete asshole after that shit. Like goddamn, he convinced Buu not just to stop killing, but warmed him up so much eventually he got *_too good_* for his own good and basically murdered himself, got revived and murdered himself again. AND became one of the planet's defenders after that. That's some fucking good training right there.
While its not said, I think what people really, really hate about him is not the taking credit bit, because the z fighters LET him take credit. Its how he makes a mockery of the martial arts that uses ki or chi or whatever you call it. It isn't really shown, but the fallout from his dismissing of what used to be accepted powers and abilities of martial arts masters, which would utterly trash their reputations, is pretty damn horrible. Look at Krillan. HE IS HUMAN TOO. Despite being one of the weakest members, he is STILL there, STILL FIGHTING, and STILL making a difference. Hercule's dissing the true martial arts of the DBZ universe to protect his lie can arguably be endangering the earth in the long run by preventing more humans from learning the powers of chi/ki and potentially growing to help the z fighters.

I actually did rage against Mr Satan until the end of Z where he basically started taking care of the Z fighters. I think his redemption is in Videl who saw through his bull shit. I think that not only did he teach Buu empathy but Buu brought out some courage in him. He became much cooler once he understood the truth.

For one, he is bipolar and far as I recall when researching, bipolar disorder is or can be a severe case that can be cause through early trauma or inherited genetics. I've gotta say. Hercule really shouldn't be on this list. He's not exactly annoying, plus he also isn't a faker. The Z-Fighters decided to let him take the credit for Cell and Buu. The whole world practically looks up to him as a hero, it'd have been kinda shitty to completely ruin his life, ESPECIALLY after he went to fight Cell. He actually thought he had a chance, and in the end he came through. If not for him, Gohan wouldn't have unleashed his rage, and he wouldn't have beaten Cell. Same thing in the Buu saga. He made friends with Fat Buu, which let Super Buu recognize him and not kill him, (which let him stick around long enough to not die and end up going to the Kaio-Shin planet in the first place), and which ALSO only made Kid Buu flick him instead of killing him. Even more, if it wasn't for Mr. Satan, Goku WOULD NOT have been able to create the Super Spirit Bomb. Even besides looking at it from a story standpoint, Mr. Satan is supposed to be the average man personified. He doesn't believe in all of the Ki abilities used at first, and STILL when he came to realize the gravity of the situation, came to help in ANY way he could. If nothing else, Hercule Satan is, like, one of the best characters in Z. Not by a power standpoint, but from a character importance.

I always felt like Yuki never fit in the story. From what I saw it was mainly about Zero and Kaname.
But with Yuki in the story, it was really hard to find the plot because with her in, characters became really muddled.

Shinji Ikari's whole deal is that he is clinically depressed but everybody smart enough to recognize this leaves him in an untreated state of poor mental health because he is more manipulatable to accomplish their desired tasks for them. Shinji himself recognizes this and becomes more depressed, a positive feedback loop of depression because he gets more depressed because he is depressed, which leads up to the mental breakdowns and self loathing he gets up to in the finale of the series. Shinji is much less annoying to viewers that can relate and empathize with experiencing depression, but I do understand that it is very difficult for many people to even imagine the feelings involved and to pass it off as "whiny".

Misa may be considered annoying to some but I find her to be a very tragic character. So her parents die and she only has Kira to cling onto life for since he took revenge for her. She goes out of her way only to meet him and thank him from the bottom of her heart for what he did for her, even if it cost her her life since she has no reason to live anymore. Then she finds Light is Kira. She is willing to do ANYTHING for him even if he uses her which is tragic itself. She would die for him, kill everyone in the world for him and he only uses her. And when he dies, she has nothing to live for and jumps off a bridge. I get that the whole moe shit would be annoying coming from her and her acting like a stereotypical bimbo 😂 but her story is purely a tragedy....

I’m more neutral when it comes to Misa. She may not be my favorite, but I can’t say I hate her. She does have her moments of smartness, and could be a potential threat to anyone. But I don’t think she had many moments to shine because Death Note only focused on Light and L. Misa was there, just not as big a part as we wanted. Much like Naomi Misora, she had to be played down as stupid or else she could have beaten light, which would have caused all sorts of complications. (Not even going to address how Tusgami Ohba made the women in the story far inferior to men. Even though the reason he added Misa was because he didn’t want his story to be mistaken for Yaoi, which if you aren’t going to make even a slightly comprehensible woman, why bother?) sorry for the rate, I do believe Misa was done dirty though. She’s not annoying, she just doesn’t get the chance to truly develop or have a lot of moments for herself.

The women are usually downplayed in a sexist way either as Mrs Fanservice (which aight fair Im a bi dude so why not, but sometimes it’s overdone) or plain stupid, which I think ain’t fair (Naruto, DB and most shonens for example). Poor Shinji, to be fair though he is dealing with a mental illness (depression) and doesn't get the proper support he needs to overcome it which is why his character never really grows. Its actually pretty realistic character development. When you're depressed everything feels dark and miserable and its like a black hole you can't escape. I actually find him interesting because he is technically a "hero" but is realistically one of the most unheroic characters ever.
It's very sad that Shinji Should see a therapist.

Aside from all the depression and mental health issues, Shinji literally did nothing wrong! He saved the world like 15 times in one year and no one bothered to thank him. Literally everyone around was trying to manipulate him, and the worst part was he knew it at the very core.

Finally I find a list about annoying anime charters with Louise as number one. I have always hated her most of all. But let me just tell you something, the anime makes her better then she actually is. Louise comes from a light novel, and she's even worst in that.
First off, we all know she's a complete idiot, probably the dumbest in the entire serious. No matter how clear as fucking day it is that Saito didn't do anything, she'll still act like a bitch. In the light novel she decided to throw a rock at his head when Siesta tried to kiss him, and when Derfliner said he could have died she just said he's 10 years too earlier to be flirting with other girls. When she bloom up the class room in the first volume and the teacher asked her to clean up as punishment, she barely did anything and made Saito do all the work.
Never once is she fair despite the fact she owns him for saving her worthless life so many times. But she'll never learn no matter how many times she's wrong, which she is every time. I first started watching the anime in 2012, and because of her I have trouble not hating so many anime girls. Well, to be fair the anime girls I hate deserve it I find, but the fact is she triggered a hate inside me I never knew.

Set2Seth I like to read To Teach a Zero and I Will Summon a Dragon. Both of them are Elder Scrolls crossovers where Louise summons the dragonborn, although with different storylines. To Teach a Zero features an old Nord man who becomes Louise’s mentor (as in, ”you wanna learn from me? It’s my way or the highway).The other one has a Bosmer(wood elf) who is pretty hilarious and doesn’t really take crap from anyone.
Both of these are found on fanfiction.net. Other times there are fics where the summoned alternate Familiar is pretty much screwing with Louise, sometimes without even trying(kinda like doing something that is ”socially unacceptable” and the alternate Familiar tilts their head, ”Why?”).

I know The Witch's Zero by Vantroz. It is a crossover of Familiar of Zero, and Touhou Project. Louis summons Patchouli, and Patchouli agrees to make the Louis her apprentice. It stopped continuing, but I liked that Louis gets trapped in rocks.

The problem with Alois Trancy's character is mainly the sudden revealed backstory. It was completely out of place and honestly quite unnerving.
Did he have a tragic past? Yes.
Is that a reason to like him? Not really.
The need to pull the 'oh has been through soo much shit you *must* like him' - card is overdone and lazy. The director and producer of a show are supposed to make certain characters likeable without these methods. Characters like Claude have no other purpose than being despised, well at least for the majority of viewers. But if you intend to make a protagonist/antagonist popular amongst the audience you should better focuss on writing better. Not to mention that Alois is kind of a Mary Sue from Ciel.

With Nina (Code Geass), I want to bring up an issue that occasionally comes up:
Having part of a character's backstory available on a website but not mentioned in the show itself makes things needlessly complicated.
If it's important enough to make it part of their character, bring it up in the show so that the viewers know what happened to them, don't just leave it online and hope that people will read about it. I want to know why she's afraid of the Japanese within the show itself, not outside it. Show, don't tell.

I always think that people that hate Shinji are either people that had no psychological/family/anykind of problems in life or people that have them and they make themselves feel better with bullying characters like he is.
Yelling at people with severe depression, stuff like "stop being so selfish", "just stop being like this", "stop being a crybaby", just makes it worse and a lot of times it could end in suicide. Put yourselves in his shoes and then have your friend tell to you "whe, whe, your mommy has died? and your daddy doesn't love you, whe, whe". And then you have to save the world, one mistake and everyone is dead. Greater reason/threat doesn't nullify all your lesser psychological problems, it multiplies them. And all three main characters (plus a lot of side ones) represent how people cope with problems, but I guess it is hard to explain to someone that has no problems, or just doesn't want to admit he/she has them.

Yeah no this doesn’t hold water. There are plenty of people who have problems who dislike this guy. Including me. He is annoying, not because he had depression, but because of how the show handled said depression. We don’t really see anything from him apparat from whining, and I actually enjoy characters who have depression who are handled well like Kaladin from Stormlight Archives. Now that’s a mulitifasceted depiction I can root for.

Some people can handle the pressure and others can't. It's not unrealistic for both since. In. A book I'm writing, my main character Kolbalt who's 15, can somewhat handle the pressure, but he also has his friends to help him. And when you are also in a relationship with one of them, you learn to fight pretty damn quick to defend not just them but all of your friends. It's a heaven vs hell, angels vs demons thing. Also Kolbalt loses his family and that drives him with rage, and it shows in his emotion at FIRST, he mans up later and well...gets his revenge XD.

I am seriously so sick of all the hate lambasted towards Shinji Ikari (and I only just got into NEON GENESIS EVANGELION last month). Here's what many people fail to understand about Shinji: He's not a whiny, self-indulgent emo, but rather, Shinji is a traumatized youth who suffers from depression and self-dependency issues.
Depresssion is a complex psychological condition that goes beyond simple whining, and unfortunately in many cases, there is no cure. So to the people who keep telling Shinji, "STOP WHINING AND GET IN THE ROBOT!" need to realize that simply telling someone like him to "get over it" is not going to do anything to help. The reason Shinji keeps coming back to piloting the EVA despite complaining about how much his life sucks and how much the people around him suck, is because he lacks any self-esteem or confidence in himself. As such, he feels that since he's worthless, he can only be useful when being completely subservient to people like Gendo and Misato, and by in large, gain approval from them and therefore find some sort of attachment to other people (and in turn, find meaning in his existence). Because he was abandoned by Gendo when he was only 4 years old for reasons beyond his comprehension, he began to see his own existence as a toxic influence on others, believing that he was a worthless burden who only brought harm onto others. This correlates with a psychological state of mind known as Hedgehog's Dilemma, in which one wants to have contact and bonds with others, but just like the spines on a hedgehog, will only end up hurting others when coming into close contact. This problem is evident with Shinji throughout the series, as when he does end up making friends with Misato, Rei, Asuka, Toji, and Kawrou, the majority of the time they end up injured or dead because he was either unable to do anything to help them, or was the direct cause of said tragedies like with Kawrou. And to address the criticism that Shinji is being selfish by putting his own problems ahead of the Angel attacks, my response is that that's kind of the point. Yes the Angels are threatening NERV headquarters constantly, and Shinji is fully aware that it's more important than curling up in a ball and shutting himself off from the rest of the world. He acknowledges that his behavior is selfish. But as I said earlier, depression is not an easy thing to overcome, and even when Shinji does want to step up and pilot the EVA, he lacks the confidence that he is capable of doing so without bringing harm to those he cares about, again going back to the Hedgehog's Dilemma. Simply put, even when we are aware of bigger problems occurring that make our personal ones seem insignificant in comparison, we are never always going to respond to the bigger and far more important issues as some times we can't escape the illusion of enormity that our personal conflicts create in our minds. It's just simple human nature, and all people experience it at some point in their lives in one form or another.
So in a nutshell, Shinji's angst is far deeper than simple whining, and is in reality, a high realistic depiction of how would experience depression, feelings of self-loathing and worthlessness, as well as the dangers of isolating oneself from society and basic human contact. And it ties in directly to the main plot of EVANGELION as when Shinji finally gains confidence in himself and finds meaning to his existence, he's able to reject Instrumentality and preserve humanity's future in the wake of the Third Impact. In essence, Shinji's personal issues later become symbolic for humanity as a whole, and whether or not the human race is worthy of existence or redemption as the series progresses.
That's where the genius of Shinji Ikari, and practically the entire narrative of NEON GENESIS EVANGELION, truly lies...
Oh and to answer why Gendo had Shinji pilot EVA-Unit 01 despite knowing how psychologically damaged his son was? Shinji was the only person capable of piloting Unit 01 as the soul of Shinji's mother, Yui Ikari, had bonded itself to the EVA, and would only accept her son and no one else...
notsosxechris I actually don't mind Asuka, as she's purposefully meant to be an egotistical jerk, which served as a great foil to Shinji's more introverted attitude.
If there was any character I hated in NGE it would undoubtedly be Shinji's father Gendo, as he is a complete a**hole and one of the worst parents I've ever seen in fictional media!
I'd argue that it was done intentionally with Asuka, as nearly every character in EVA has at least some unlikable qualities. The thing is that we're not always meant to sympathize with them, but we're at least meant to understand why these characters behave the way that they do and what caused them to be this way. In that regard, Asuka is by no means a bad character (as she clearly has depth and three-dimensional development)... she simply just one whose not going to appeal to everybody.

I strongly agree with you, I have had self hatred that gave me suicidal thoughts and fantasies. It wasn't until I joined a military school with people who cared about me, that I finally started to understand myself, and my artistic potential. But throughout my life as a teen, I've been having severe depression that still plagues me to this day. I hate seeing people like this who think that teenagers are just edge punks who like rebellion. In truth, teenagers are going through puberty, and at this stage, they can't control themselves, or their feelings, which results in things like depression, anxiety, and self hatred which can lead to suicide. Teenagers are really just misunderstood, and need love.

A problem I have with anime in general is that there are often major characters who are unflattering, annoying, or outright unlikable to Western audiences. Because Japan has an extremely different culture with different values than us, what they may find funny, we may find annoying, and what they may find noble or admirable, we may find anything but. Thankfully our cultural barriers doesn't keep us from enjoying anime, and there are plenty of characters that both Japanese and Western audiences can agree on - whether they're good or terrible characters.

Wait a minute...poor Shinji gets stuck on this list, but Asuka Sohryu from Evangelion doesn't?! Asuka has many of the same flaws that landed Louise at the top of the list! Asuka's also a loud, obnoxious, pompous, arrogant, demanding brat who fails at virtually everything, treats others like they are beneath her, and yet somehow she's pretty much worshipped by Eva fans everywhere! And before anybody says anything, yes, I'm aware of Asuka's background, but that doesn't justify her abusiveness, brattiness, and blatant refusal to take so much as an ounce of responsibility for her actions, preferring to blame everything on everyone else. If you ask me, Asuka deserves to land on this list way more than Shinji (and on a sidenote, I never found Shinji to be whiny - merely quiet and having a great deal of trouble with interacting and dealing with others.)
I despise Tsunderes but I will come right out and say Asuka gets a pass in my book because she how you write a character like that. What do I mean by that?
At the end of the series she implodes from her own awfulness, and actually suffers the consequences of being a shit.
Unlike other characters like her, her horrible attitude is NOT portrayed as a funny quirk. They didn't makes excuses for her and say "Well she's rough on the outside but deep down she's got a good heart." That would be bull shit.
The only reason anyone put up with her is because she could pilot an EVA, and she KNEW that just as much as they did. She knew people were often just putting up with her, So she put all her eggs in one basket. Unlike other people who create support systems based on friendship, and helping others, and becoming the kind of person they'd want to help in return, she just tried to be the best, and when she could no longer do that, at the most all she had was pity.
People who are just rude and mean to others have no choice but to be the best of the best at what they do because no one will put up with them otherwise. No one likes some who talks shit and can't deliver. That's my take on her at least. At the end of the series, Asuka isn't the only one meeting her demise. It just does not seem like poetic justice.

Alois Trancy and Shinji Ikari both had horrible pasts, it's completely NATURAL for them to act that way.
Alois had even worst childhood than Ciel, so of course he's messed up.
And it's sad when people call Shinji whiny. The way he reacts to things is very realistic considering his age and background. He's also really brave, because even though he's scared he does what people expect from him.
It would be really annoying and unrealistic if these characters would NOT be messed up.

Oh, I bet Yui "Bitch-chan" Komori from Diabolik Lovers would easily replace Yuki Cross. They're basically the same character to the point of having similar names, except Yui is even more insufferable. Hell, She'd probably be higher up on the list; I would imagine her being number 6 or 5.

Anime review people on youtube don't add the characters from ongoing anime because they are too long. Like Bleach, Naruto, One Piece or Fairy Tail. It's not that the anime isn't good it's that it is way to long to get a good grasp on it.
Plus Sakura's character did get infinitely better in Shippuden.

I just finished watching Code Geass (great anime by the way) and honestly...I don't think Nina was as bad as you're claiming her to be. She's hardly seen around on the show, she wasn't as over-the-top or overly annoying and she regretted her mistakes. If anything, I didn't find her annoying in the slightest. Yeah okay...that table scene was messed up and in my opinion had no point to it since clearly Nina already made it clear she deeply admire the princess, but other then that, I thought she was okay. Not perfect, but not as annoying as you guys are making her out to be.

In defense of Hercule, he was kinda there as a more human element of the show. Yeah, he's fucking useless against these mega-aliens from fucking who knows where this time, but what do you expect? He's human, depressingly so. He knows damn well he doesn't stand a fucking chance out there, but he *has* to go and do it, because Earth needs a hero, and that hero has always been him. He's not used to the role, and he's abrasive because of that, but at least he tries. And yeah, it probably sucks that none of the others get any recognition (not that half of them really care), but Mr. Satan is a long-established "hero of Earth", while the rest of them, to outside eyes are just... a bunch of strangers, many of them the very aliens that were once a threat to them. Plus, do not get him wrong. Hercule is NOT weak. He was, and remains to be, the strongest non-Ki using human in the world. This guy could kick your ass, and your entire family's ass, but because he's so hopelessly, hopelessly outclasses by these *literal planet destroyers* that he has to face on an almost *yearly* basis, there's really nothing he can do but resort to cheap tricks. Plus, we're talking about the guy that taught a genocidal pink abomination empathy here. I don't think you can call him a complete asshole after that shit. Like goddamn, he convinced Buu not just to stop killing, but warmed him up so much eventually he got *_too good_* for his own good and basically murdered himself, got revived and murdered himself again. AND became one of the planet's defenders after that. That's some fucking good training right there.
While its not said, I think what people really, really hate about him is not the taking credit bit, because the z fighters LET him take credit.
Its how he makes a mockery of the martial arts that uses ki or chi or whatever you call it. It isn't really shown, but the fallout from his dismissing of what used to be accepted powers and abilities of martial arts masters, which would utterly trash their reputations, is pretty damn horrible.
Look at Krillan. HE IS HUMAN TOO. Despite being one of the weakest members, he is STILL there, STILL FIGHTING, and STILL making a difference. Hercule's dissing the true martial arts of the DBZ universe to protect his lie can arguably be endangering the earth in the long run by preventing more humans from learning the powers of chi/ki and potentially growing to help the z fighters.

I actually did rage against Mr Satan until the end of Z where he basically started taking care of the Z fighters. I think his redemption is in Videl who saw through his bull shit. I think that not only did he teach Buu empathy but Buu brought out some courage in him. He became much cooler once he understood the truth.

For one, he is bipolar and far as I recall when researching, bipolar disorder is or can be a severe case that can be cause through early trauma or inherited genetics. I happen to have a friend who suffer from bipolar disorder and it upsets me when people don't give much thought on someone who has the disease.

I've gotta say. Hercule really shouldn't be on this list. He's not exactly annoying, plus he also isn't a faker. The Z-Fighters decided to let him take the credit for Cell and Buu. The whole world practically looks up to him as a hero, it'd have been kinda shitty to completely ruin his life, ESPECIALLY after he went to fight Cell.
He actually thought he had a chance, and in the end he came through. If not for him, Gohan wouldn't have unleashed his rage, and he wouldn't have beaten Cell.
Same thing in the Buu saga. He made friends with Fat Buu, which let Super Buu recognize him and not kill him, (which let him stick around long enough to not die and end up going to the Kaio-Shin planet in the first place), and which ALSO only made Kid Buu flick him instead of killing him. Even more, if it wasn't for Mr. Satan, Goku WOULD NOT have been able to create the Super Spirit Bomb.
Even besides looking at it from a story standpoint, Mr. Satan is supposed to be the average man personified. He doesn't believe in all of the Ki abilities used at first, and STILL when he came to realize the gravity of the situation, came to help in ANY way he could.
If nothing else, Hercule Satan is, like, one of the best characters in Z. Not by a power standpoint, but from a character importance.

He was a faker against Cell. He just claimed to have beaten Cell without speaking to them. Against Buu it was different because they wanted him to take the credit.
Gameking that and he actually did contribute to defeating kid buu, they would’ve actually lost that fight if not for Hercule
He and feet Buu also saved Vegeta from Kid Buu.
