A beautiful video and a compliment to your sea kayaking skills. Your friend is at some stage almost knocked over by a wave from the right, but he does a bit of sculling or whatever it is called, gets back in balance and paddles on very relaxed!!
I love Sea kayaks, and seeing you guys plan a camping trip, with the beautiful ocean. Fully packed with all you need including safety gear, and equipment for your kayaks. I have a 12 ft, 4k dollar kayak. With the factory trolling motor, and a small motor on my rudder. Electronics, USB chargers, lithium batteries, and all I ever need if I were stranded on an island. Shelter, first aid, water , food, communication, and always do a 3 day fishing trip with friends. So many people go out with no maps, gps, signal devices, lights. Everything you need to survive. It'll happen to everyone. Beautiful trip and video. I Really enjoyed it!.Stay safe my friends.

Really impressive video quality for this 2 person kayak adventure. Such spectacular coast line and I love the exploration that you did through arches and caves. I also appreciate how the expedition was dialed in with top notch planning, judgement, and of course, some spirits at night. Not sure how you all settled on rum with all those barrels of Talisker near by.
Nice one Bob & Co, did coastal backpacking trip from Ramasaig to Orbost years ago. There was a very smelly dead Sperm Whale carcass in the bay below the bothy. Duirnish Coast is lovely quiet part of the world. Enjoy watching your videos, especially as now have a S.O.F. folding Kayak. All best.

My son and I just returned from Scottland, where we have been climbing mountains on Skye and kayaking the Caledonian Canal. Awesome trip video. I’d like to visit. I’m interested in what you mentioned about Lorgill Bay village being taken over. I’m curious about that period of history as my ancestors left Scotland in about 1831. I’d like to better understand their motivation for leaving. I have read a little about enclosure and I thought that that might have been part of it. Very interesting.
Bruce Fummey tells the story well on his youtube channel Scotland History Tours - look for Skye Crofters Wars in the playlists. There are also videos about the Highland Clearances and about Scots in Canada, giving other parts of the story. I also recommend Andy Wightman's book "The Poor Had No Lawyers" which describes in detail how landowners came to own millions of acres across Scotland, including on the Isle of Skye, that had been held in common.

Thanks😁 i just use a Garmin Forerunner 735xt, a fairly basic waterproof wrist gps. Gives me basic speed and distance while on the water and I download the trace when I get home. This does all I want, but there are many avaiable that give you more real time info, but they tend to be bigger and more expensive
3 mph says you are taking your time - which is good when there is so much to see around. An extra paddle is a great idea; but have you had any problems with the main one? How wet are you at the end of the day?
Hi, yea 3mph average isn't rushing, but were not trying to, as you say lots to see. Re spare paddle, its fairly standard procedure to carry one on such a trip, I've never needed it, but I have seen paddles get broken. The dry suits we wear keep us fairly dry, but just a touch damp from persperation

Out of curiosity, what time of year did you do the trip and what was the sea temperature at the time? I see you two are wearing dry suits, but Im wandering if one could get by in a thicker wet suit?

Hi, it's a North Shore Ocean 17.... I'm a huge fan, handles superbly empty or full loaded, and is very responsive to fine tuning with the skeg, meaning that whatever the conditions, your not fighting the boat. Enough space for multiday trips, without being oversize for me.

Hi, we always carry enough water for a few days and top up as needed from streams, its part of the planning process to identify water sources or lack of. Carrying four days water isnt a problem

Hi, they are both Northshore, now very similar called Northshore Voyager Evolution ( white one) and Northshore Atlantic Evolution (yellow one) ... but they are not quite as good imo since the legend Mike stopped making them!

@@thomasjensen3214 Hi, yea its Valley making the evolution versions, which are slightly tweaked versions of the Northshore Ocean and Atlantic that Mike Nelson made. If you have a Ocean 17.6 Im fairly sure you will find the Evolution Voyager version slightly smaller fit. My Ocean ( the white decked boat) is the 17" size and I bought it off a mate who up sized to the 17"6 because he found mine tight. I believe the Evolution Voyager at 17"2 sized between the two in length and cockpit volume etc. Hope this helps

Thanks for the input, I do understand, indeed its hard to get it right for everyone. Heavy breathing picked up by the mouth mounted camera, a squeeky paddle noise (wet skin on the paddle shaft) and very boring conversations do detract from the natural sound and steer me towards adding some form of music

Please please cut the music. Would much prefer the natural sounds to enjoy the actual atmosphere of the area, hear the birds and water etc. Would mean we could also hear your voice better. Best wishes

I agree the voice and music volume balance isn't so good on this one, though it depends on your device, it can sound fine on some devices but not on otheres, that's my excuse😅 and it was my first attempt with a voice over.. go pro volume is very variable, I think it gets water in the microphone affecting the quality, also using a mouth mount I can get heavy breathing recorded, which isn't good!!! So like it or not, some music is probably the best option, but I hope the balance in my more recent videos is better. Cheers
I would agree about the music. Nice but too loud,drowns your voice and unnecessary anyway. Also,, would suggest showing map of the day first rather than after. And next time invite me! Fab vids. We'll done ✔️

Hi... They are both North Shore boats, made in the Uk. The Yellow one is an Atlantic and mine is an Ocean. Both great boats imo

Thank you... we went in May, not sure what sea temps are, but chilly! Dry suits are not needed, but offer good comfort levels, for me, on such trips

Hi, they are both Northshore, now very similar called Northshore Voyager Evolution ( white one) and Northshore Atlantic Evolution (yellow one) ... but they are not quite as good imo since the legend Mike stopped making them!

@@thomasjensen3214 Hi, yea its Valley making the evolution versions, which are slightly tweaked versions of the Northshore Ocean and Atlantic that Mike Nelson made. If you have a Ocean 17.6 Im fairly sure you will find the Evolution Voyager version slightly smaller fit. My Ocean ( the white decked boat) is the 17" size and I bought it off a mate who up sized to the 17"6 because he found mine tight. I believe the Evolution Voyager at 17"2 sized between the two in length and cockpit volume etc. Hope this helps

Great video, except I'd have liked more natural bird, wind/water, and conversational sounds--rather than monotonous piano tinkling.
Thanks for the input, I do understand, indeed its hard to get it right for everyone. Heavy breathing picked up by the mouth mounted camera, a squeeky paddle noise (wet skin on the paddle shaft) and very boring conversations do detract from the natural sound and steer me towards adding some form of music

@@martin.feuchtwanger thanks, yes, a valid point. Getting the siund balance right isnt that easy, it sounds different on different devices and seems to change when its uploaded to U tube. This vid was an early attempt at commentary, and I didnt want the voice to dominate, but agree it comes over a bit low on utube. Cheers
Please please cut the music. Would much prefer the natural sounds to enjoy the actual atmosphere of the area, hear the birds and water etc. Would mean we could also hear your voice better. Best wishes

I agree the voice and music volume balance isn't so good on this one, though it depends on your device, it can sound fine on some devices but not on otheres, that's my excuse😅 and it was my first attempt with a voice over.. go pro volume is very variable, I think it gets water in the microphone affecting the quality, also using a mouth mount I can get heavy breathing recorded, which isn't good!!! So like it or not, some music is probably the best option, but I hope the balance in my more recent videos is better. Cheers
I would agree about the music. Nice but too loud,drowns your voice and unnecessary anyway. Also,, would suggest showing map of the day first rather than after. And next time invite me! Fab vids. We'll done ✔️
