Frieza is the same, instead of going Golden he EX Fuses with Perfect Cell (claiming it's stronger)... HOWEVER, EX Fusion is signature to the game so that could easily be why they did it instead of the usual And with 5 Way Fusion, you're right, which ever character (race, gender, skin color) initiates the 5 Way Fusion is the main form of the fusion... Not really, it really depends of of the two person who fuse with. For example, both Goten and Trunks are extremely cocky, so when they fuse they will retain their personalities and be cocky
In Dragon ball Super it said if you use kai's potara earrings it's forever but if they're not kai's it lasts for 1 hour Or if you use the dragon balls to separate, you can also break the earring while its on
Potara fusion is confirmed weaker than fusion dance, but considering the time limit and that ssj3 begins to drain the time of the fusion dance, while blue is the starting point for the potara fusion, so it really depends on the situation. For quick a finish off the guy whose shown his limit, fusion dance is better, or just over powering say broly and his growing power, and when you want more time, you go potara. It's literally dexterity vs strength from dnd.

U forgot one of the main weakness to two of the fusions: over confidence and cockiness depending on power

The potara was never always permanent. In Z they defused after an hour inside Super Buu, it was never said until Super
