  • Here I build a bin shelter to hide my ugly bins. It has a living roof with an internal gutter to stop it from overflowing. Eventually I will install a water butt for a close system of water from the bed, back into the bed when it needs it.

    That’s a great idea with the concealed gutter.

    Hi! This is a lovely project - thank you for sharing, I learned a lot!!! Can I ask you how the drainage is going? Did it work well? I have made a bin shelter with a living roof but I complete forgot about the drainage! I didn't make it slanted.... I think I can still fix it but not sure how slanted it should be for the drainage to work.

    Good video fella, would be good seeing how you made the initial frame for the bin unit.

      I’ll see if I can find a photo. I’ve thought about making some plans. Like an ebook, but just haven’t got round to it 🤞🏽

    I was wondering if you had a list of lumber used. I am not able to drive so ordering the wood to be delivered but not sure what to ask for. My 4 bins are the same size as yours visually.

      @@greenfingeredcityboy if you do it would be amazing. Only because I'm going to have to do online and deliver as I'm unable to hire a van.

    Looks great! Just wondering how you angle the actual wood base of the planter on a gradient towards the drainage at the back? Can't quite tell from the video or is it just flat?

    • @greenfingeredcityboy
      @greenfingeredcityboy  10 месяцев назад +2

      So I built it on a flat surface, then where it was going angled, I then use bulky wood and fanned it.
      I was going to cut angles like I showed in the video and do it that way, but I was lazy 😅🤣
      I didn’t know so many people would watch and see, otherwise I’d not have been lazy 🤣🤣

    Does the water barrel just collect water or is it hooked up to pump back into the flowers?

      The frame is 3x3 posts. 2.4metre long, chopped in half for the height 😊

    Hey, you did an amazing job mate, just one question if its necessary the drainage?

    • @greenfingeredcityboy
      @greenfingeredcityboy  Год назад

      In the winter it is, in the warmer months there’s no way it can get water logged. Thats why I haven’t got round to the water butt yet, because it won’t serve a purpose until Autumn/Winter

    What was the total cost ? I know timber is just a bit crazy at the mo

      Hard to say mate as a lot of it was reclaimed wood. Which meant if I made it and bought the wood I wouldn’t go as chunky wood on the outside. Might be an idea to wait for it to drop 🤔
