Tom, get better! I wish you a full recovery though things aren't looking so good.

Oh how I wish I could take a time machine back in time to watch Tom play in person.

You, Tom, have amazing talent...one of my favorite rags, and very well played! I enjoyed your show at the John Stark Pavilion in Sedalia on Thursday June 6 (as did my family) and it was great meeting you in person. I am glad you make time to fine-tune and share your talent with other ragtimers. Keep playing!

What better person to listen to play Edgar Lee Settle's immortal "X.L. Rag" than Tom Brier?:-)

This composer, who's name I have forgotten, was a ragtime composer and, from few sources, is said to have toured for 30 years playing piano. This is the only rag we have to remember him...

Lee Edgar (AKA "Jelly") Settle (1882-1949) was the composer of this and "The Missouri Waltz".

He is in need of constant care as an invalid. His parents care for him. His brain injury has left him in this state. After all these years, prognosis is grim

Lee Edgar Settle of Missouri. There is a wonderful in-depth article about him with photos, in “The Rag-Time Ephemeralist” periodical, published by Chris Ware of Chicago. I can’t remember if it’s in Volume 1 or Volume 3 (I don’t have Volume 2 and it’s way out of print). Among other things, Settle was the true composer of the famous “Missouri Waltz”, and had absolute pitch.
