We appreciate you leaving the mistake in brother Slade. It keeps us from making the same mistake Wish everyone on this platform would do that. It would save us all a lot of headaches. That was another fantastic video my friend.
Slade thanks for this. Your instruction videos are better and more understandable than any other I’ve seen. You don’t realize how good you really are. Thanks for what you do for us.
The new video equipment looks good. Tip; I use random size tubing and tube fittings, sharpen the ends and use as a punch for making small round things and holes for gaskets. Thanks for the vid.✌️
I would really appreciate it if you could do a video on speedometer removal. I have a 1973 super beetle and I’ve looked in several repair books and watched numerous videos and nobody does a video on removal procedures. Thank You for your time
Nice! I might do this over the winter. I've seen some speedos with an yellow colored turn signal indicator. Any idea what it's supposed to be officially?
Going to do this on my 69 Dune buggy speedo, but had a thought. a hole punch or 3 hole sheet paper punch would probably make a faster and nicer lens for your red & green lenses.
I did a body off resto of my '62 sedan during the pandemic but the Speedo runs about 10 MPH slow, which I find odd, since it's mechanical. anyway, thanks to this video, I'll rebuild it and see what happens. 😊
Addendum; took it apart and the milage is mechanical but the speed is not. There is a round magnet that spins inside a steel sleeve that is mounted on one end of a small spindle with the speed indicating needle on the other end, so the only reason I can think of for the inaccuracy is the spindle bearing is dragging. (or the magnet has weakened?) I'll put a drop of oil on the bearing and see what happens! on my my '62, the little color pieces were glued to the back of the face plate so replacing them will be easy!

Thanks brother, I just try to keep it real, I think that helps.
Probably the fastest that speedometer has ever gone 🙂
True 😂😂😂
Looks good with the new gear. This is a second request for the rebuild video for a 68 speedo with internal fuel gauge.
I’ll be doing the 68 speedometer soon. I just didn’t want to do two different ones back to back.
Great job Mr Slade ! I will have to do this on my bus. I actually like arts and crafts lol
Thank you, my friend! I am so excited you bought an air cooled bus.

Thank you, my friend for the kind words, it’s comments like this that keep me going.

Thank you CJ for the tip! I truly appreciate that. And, thank you for taking the time to be here.
Very nice! ❤❤❤ You were so right buddy. I barely touched my needle and it shattered! 😢 One on order now… wish me luck!
Oh no, I’m sorry, my friend. Sometimes those things are so delicate.
The black looks good on the housing.
Thank you brother I truly appreciate that.
New camera gives a sharp video!
Thank you I truly appreciate that.
Good morning
Nicely done my friend. it looks a whole lot better now. looking forward for the next video.
Thank you my friend. I truly appreciate that.
Awesome!! Thanks for the video.
Thanks brother I appreciate that.

Just a thought on lining up the bright light tube (and keeping it true) during reassembly: Use a chopstick as a guide.
Hey! That is really a good idea. Thank you so much. It’s a little tricky getting that together.
The 67 speedo is different than the later ones. The later ones have more plastic parts.
Thanks my friend! I wasn’t aware of that. But somehow I’m not surprised by it either.
Slade, did you double up the “gels” or are they thick enough to show the color and not the light bulb?
No, there’s just one layer, they are a little thick. But I put the light behind it, and they seem to be OK.
Nice! I might do this over the winter. I've seen some speedos with an yellow colored turn signal indicator. Any idea what it's supposed to be officially?
It’s supposed to be green, but honestly, I would put what color you like.
@@SladesVWBeetle I think yellow might be in order! :)

Did you ever get the 68 speedometer video posted? I'm curious about spring issues.
Did u ever look up JB lazor Weld?
Actually, I did not, but I just screen cap this so I can look at it this evening. I completely forgot.
Well done! what kind of grease do you use? some greases will cause some plastics to swell.
I use silicone grease, which can be considered the perfect plastic lubricant.
What if is broken you have a video?
@@enriquechavez6546 I don't have a video on a broken one. But if I did, I would definitely start repairing the little gears inside.
