Jason Sadites suggests running a separate send and return so that you can set the send to Instrument level and the return to Line level, which addresses some of those impedance issues - not as easy to move around with a preset though, and it takes up two physical loops instead of one, so you kind of have to decide what is a bigger issue.
Love your stuff, Zach! I've been a Fractal FM9 user for a few years and have used that as an all-in-one FOH solution at church. Recently, I bought a ToneX One for giggles and have just recently started messing with putting the ToneX One in the FM9's effects loop. The effects/ODs/compressors/noise gate in the FM9 are fantastic, and I think I may start using both together at church.
@@jeffwatson7811 I'll report back. I tend to run my delays and reverbs after my amps. I downloaded a couple of The Studio Rats ToneX packs and found a couple of tones I'm really digging from their Preset Pack 1.
Yea, thats a cool, no nonsense setup. I they made the HX Stomp a more capable midi controller, I would love that, but its great for changing one device.
Very knowledgeable and you explain things clearly so even I can understand. If you could help me it would be great. I have a HX stomp XL and I recently got a audio Source C4. I just can't seem to make the HX Stomp send program changes to the C4 over USB MIDI. If you could break it down for me that would be incredible. Thank you so much.
Great video !! Are you able to program the tonex one to change cabs whenever you switch to a new preset on your Hx stomp ? i seen that you did it with the regular tonex but im curious to know if it also switches the tonex one .
Can Tonex Pedal work simultaneously as a modeler and audio interface or only as one of these options? I need to use Tonex Pedal as a modeler and send music from my computer to it via USB.
Ok Buddy I bought two Tonex pedals for a a dual Tonex HX stomp stereo board. I already had the stomp. My ? Is if I wanted to do this would I hook up midi cables in the out/thru of one of the Tonex pedals out to the second one?
Oh that's a great question. I've not tried it with two but I think everything stays the same! I think you'd just put both Tonex pedals together so the signal can pass through one to the other
Thank you for a great video! Just a quick question, are you using fx loop to put tonex to hx stomp? Also, if you putting tonex via fx loop to hx stomp, did you set tonex volume at 12 o clock?
I have similar setup but with dual Tonex pedals, yes into the hx fx loop mono in to the Tonex input & stereo out to the return L/R of the stomp for stereo fx out to your board or FOH or your audio interface powered speaker.......I keep Tonex full volume global trim volume @ 0.0 to +3.5 depending on your pickups in your guitar of choice.
I'm about four months late but I am interested to see how you powered each of the pedals. I have a CS7 and am looking to do a similar setup without having to buy a new power supply. Did you just daisy chain some of your drives together to make this happen?
Yes you do have to sacrifice that. However, you can always use momentary of expression inputs via a stomp block and just by holding an effect can accomplish something similar. Ie. If I want to use an expression pedal to take my reverb from 30 to 60% mix, I can via just assigning the parameter to one of the footswitches!
Cool! Thank you! Surely I will have many questions once my Pedalboard will end! Hope you all reply here! (There are any of youre preset downloadble?) thx 🎉
This is exactly what I was looking for.Thank you, thank you thank you!

Wondering what difference you notice between fractal amps vs tonex? I struggle to get a good wet effects break in front of fractal amps

How do you feel like the TONEX amps respond compared to the FM9s amps?
@@ZachBrobstMusic I need to dial in the FM9 to closely match the ToneX captures that I'm loving right now, but haven't done that yet.

Hey Zach, love the pedalboard. Are you using stereo patch cables for the fx loop?
Yes I am for the FX Loop!
Very knowledgeable and you explain things clearly so even I can understand.

I assume there is a way to change cabs by using a different Midi bank but it can't change the Tonex one at all since that doesn't allow for midi!

Nope! Worked fine with my CS6 and was able to power everything without needing another power supply
@ZachBrobstMusic Did the HX stomp let you use only one port on your power supply or did you have to use two power ports and combine it to one?
Actually just watched a video where someone was able to make it work with the one power port. Thank you for your reply and your help.
@@bobbykp6156 Thats what worked for me using the converter cables/doubler!
Hey zach, would you need a DI with this set up?
Yes you would!
With the Pedalnetics footswitch in the Exp 1/2 - FS4/5 input, did you have to sacrifice using an expression, volume or wah pedal on the floor?

@ZachBrobstMusic Have you considered the midi version of pedalnatics? Would that work the same with your whole midi setup?
Are the amp sims on the Tonex tonally better than the stomp?
In my opinion, yes. Absolutely. They feel, sound, and respond better than the amps in the stomp
What are you using for midi cables for this setup?
Just CME midi cables off of Amazon!
Don’t you hear phase issues in hx stomp loop? Just listen to the hx stomp fx return loop block on and off tone difference.
I noticed it with my previous set up and using Stereo pedals but not with running a mono signal!
@@ZachBrobstMusic I even tried mono , I’m still have that phase issue. Line6 has to do something with that glitch
@@jackdifferent I guess I haven't noticed it! I'll play around with it later and see if its evident.

Thank you! I do have my 65 Amps preset available to download on my website for free!
Do you need compressor with this set up?
I do through the HX Stomp prior to my FX loop block!
