Yeah if you're diving deep for anything in the skull cavern you're just best off going until 2am. The penalty is only 1000g at most which should be pocket change by the time you're doing deep dives. If you're worried about an accident then you can replace the return scepter with a farm totem just to bail, but honestly good food is just a better replacement. Lastly if you really want every possible minute in skull cavern having your inventory prepared the night before with a desert totem rather than the obelisk because walking out your front door takes time

For easy lucky lunches, you can keep a sea cucumber in a fish pond and have blue jazz and corn growing in your greenhouse/ginger island. They came in handy for me when I was searching for my 2 lucky rings combined with ginger ale, and is useful before the point where you can easily buy magic rock candy from the desert trader every week
i just bought the game last month and dude, you can safely pass out in the scull caverns :D you only lose 1000g and no items. so no need to bring the return scepter

I had no idea that the difference in "a little extra luck" and "showering everyone with good fortune" made such a big difference in Skull Cavern hunting--thank you for that!
What I tend to do for food buffs, is use Qi Seasoning to boost the Pumpkin Soup up to +3 luck. And you can get ONE Magic Rock Candy from the Desert Trader on Thursdays in exchange for three Prismatic Shards.
Passing out in any of the mines just costs you 1,000 gold--you don't lose any of your stuff. If you get knocked out, however... I managed to lose my Infinity Blade, twice! :P Marlon was able to retrieve it for me, but that ended my adventures for the day...
I actually didn't think of using Pumpkin Soup as an alternative for when I don't have Magic Rock Candy and Lucky Lunch (or when I just can't be bothered to trade my 3 Prismatic Shards at that day), esp. since I have a lot of ingredients for Pumpkin Soup, and +2 Defense with the base buffs is never a bad thing. but yes good daily luck helps A TON. One time I had +8 Luck (+1 from Lucky Ring, +5 from Magic Rock Candy, and +2 from Ginger Ale w/Qi Seasoning) and on the best daily luck, I got 15 Prismatic Shards and 2 Auto-Petters in a single run (almost reached lvl 200 but it's fine), so knowing what to do when u have good or bad luck helps a lot (u can use good luck as well to do radioactive ore farming to make radioactive bars and sell them for 4.5k gold each if u have Blacksmith profession)
I hope you'll continue the Survival Island series -- that's been a lot of fun and is such a creative idea. I'm curious about the sun and moon passengers too!
You don’t need the return scepter or the obelisk… desert totems can be crafted or traded for as well as farm totems. Also if you just pass out from time in the caverns (2 AM) and not from health dropping to 0, you only lose 1000 gold maximum.
I don't get it, I did this alot but I always use Mr q seasoning on ginger ale and lucky lunch and then a lucky ring. Your chance will improve so much:) and in the caven you don't lose your stuff you just get a bill for a small amount of money if you pass out at 2am, its only if you die you lose stuff, if I'm not mistaking😊
All of this will make it so so easy😊

I’ve been fishing and pond farming sea cucumbers since I started this playthrough in preparation for making lucky lunches so I should be able to make around two dozen before my iridium’s mining trip in Skull cavern. Seeing your attempts has been very enlightening so many thanks Sharky!
Lucky lunch is the best. I found 4 consecutive treasure floors around level 80. Also got an auto petter which is what I needed.

You know the point searching this treasure is when you're in mid game don't in end game, within summer year1 you can go to skulls cavern and auto petter is the only thing you want in here.

Thanks for this. But fun fact, you don't lose items if you pass out from exhaustion. And by the time you're end game, what's 1000 coins... So grab some cheese and get to the desert!
Pumpkin soup give you +2 luck and it's easy to craft (Pumpkin + Milk). Burglar ring + Lucky ring it's a nice ring combination. Ginger Ale also boost your luck +1
Also, if you choose the merca joja route... you can buy auto-petters per 50k each one (you dont lose to much; just the rewards to complete community center bundles)
Ps.- Pierre keeps selling you stuff and opens everyday no matter what route you choose.
Sharky u probably know this already but slingshots with Explosive Ammo is also a good thing to practice using as a means of quickly breaking rocks (either to find ladders near where u land in each level or quickly breaking nodes that u want to break like Iridium Nodes). U can craft them but it's also really cheap in the Adventurer's Guild anyway (300 gold each) so it's defo worth rather than using the pickaxe a lot.
I have a fish pond full of eel for spicy eel. Yes, it's only 1 luck, but you get the speed boost, too. I always bring a stack of food that doesn't change my stats, like cheese if my health gets low.
I'm so mad at myself right now! I got the furthest ive ever been & still had a few hours to go, and accidently pressed "yes" to leave the mines when I was trying to eat a piece of cheese😒

I watched this because I also wanted auto-petters. I felt really bad when i got 2 on my first run. Wish i could give you one!
As for food to Skull Cavern when I don't have Rock Candy I like Pumpkin Soup - gives 2 Luck and Defence and is easy to spam craft ;)
As for drink in the cavern I prefer the Ginger Drink
Floor 100 isnt always guaranteed a treasure floor its guaranteed a freebe floor. Ive gotten it a few times where its just an empty room but free stair case
I bought the 1st treasures you're talking about (grabber & petter) - for 8 coops & 6 barns. To be fair, it took a lot of gold, but I did get them on my own.
Also, got some feelings about going past all that iridium in the caves...
I don't think you can buy Auto Petters. Marnie only sells Auto Grabbers.

At the Tresure Floor tak out the stones for getting shafts
Don’t forget you can trade 3 prismatic shards for a magic rock candy on thursdays. Might take a while to stock up but worth it
Lol you don’t need a return scepter, that’s 2mm gold. If you pass out you lose a MAX of 1,000 gold, that’s it.
I think the rarest items to find in the treasure floors is the red slime egg, prismatic shard, the black cowboy hat and the auto petter
I keep finding Bean Starter. Farming Seeds.... are not treasure!

You can stack ginger ale with a lucky lunch, right? I make both with Qi seasoning for 1 extra luck each. That works, right?

Ugh, I just used a best luck day, I have the lucky charm, I used lucky lunch, and ginger ales. The entire run I found no chest floors, and only walked away with 6 iridium ore. Nothing else of value.
do u have a Lucky Ring? that'll help as well, esp. if u combine it with Iridium Band.
I refuse to believe the cowboy hats are rare after finding 10 of them in my recent deep dive.

If you mean the auto petter it's only available through joja not community center so if you don't go the joja route this is the only way to get it. Marnie has the auto grabber though so yea that's easy
