I dont think it takes balls or courage to do collaborations like this. Its more common sense for both artists. Ed gains rep with the metal crowd for rocking out with BMTH. BMTH fans/metal heads get to experience something unique in terms of "Punk goes Pop" but a collaboration and not a cover. In any regards, the sheer fact that Ed and Ollie have the talent to make this a fucking banger while still holding some what true to the original is what is impressive. At least in my eyes. Not tryna discredit what you're saying, but I guess I just view it as a common sense collaboration that is better for both fan bases and it exposes different genres to different groups. My GF doesn't like pop, and I dont enjoy most pop - but this song has given her some respect for Ed and his music respectively.
Ed Sheeran is actually a Heavy Metal fan. He is a huge fan of Nu Metal masked band Slipknot. Bring me the Horizon were once one of the heaviest bands around at the time. They are a bit more pop/rock/metal these days. This song was really amazing. Ed's amazing clean vocals along with that bit of edge from Bring Me The Horizon really did make this performance brilliant.
So crazy to think that in high school I was listening to Suicide Season and now I'm watching them play with an act as big as Ed Sheeran. Proud of you BMTH
@Becca Stewart Cheers for the condescending assumption but I’ve got a very good idea of how the industry works, and none of that has anything to do with why Ed should feel privileged to share the stage with BMTH. Like I said, he’s shared the stage with actual legends, way above the likes of BMTH. They’re pretty much as big as it gets in the metalcore circle but they’re not really “legends”. Kind of grown past that phase personally but it seems like they’ve abandoned that since I last listened to them anyway. The music industry is savage and basically a meat grinder. Regard for talent and credit where it’s due is backwards, I get that. Still has nothing to do with the original point. Ed is extremely talented though, regardless of what anyone says. He has writers he works with like Foy Vance, Julia Michaels, etc. but he has a massive hand in the music he makes and to say he’s not talented is objectively wrong. He’d be less hated if he wasn’t in the spotlight and as big as he is but he’s not exactly a face and nothing more like a lot of pop acts. Again, still nothing to do with the original point.

This is probably the heaviest music 80% of the people there and watching live have ever heard, so awesome to see a pop artists having balls to do something like this, and BMTH just kicking straight ass every time, as always. Gave so much exposure to BMTH and Metal music in the mainstream.
I get that your young and dont remember, but Avenged Sevenfold literally knocked Chris Brown and Rhianna off the number 1 spot on TRL in like 2005. Slipknot used to get played on mainstream pop radio. Same with SOAD. Metal isn't some exclusive underground club of weirdos and hasnt been since like the 80s. There are literally hundreds of thousands of normie looking soccer mums who fold their laundry while listening to suicide silence and emmure and shit.
@@JoshTsukayamaI will say what I notice with people my age is they either listen to Lorna Shore or Lil Uzi. EVH or Taylor Swift. It seems like they’re one extreme or another, I don’t meet a lot of people that just enjoy a lot of different music.
Damn being a lover of BMTH since 2010, some people might say they dislike what they are doing now versus what they did 10 years ago. I don't think that, I love that BMTH is exploring and evolving into new genres and new kinds of music. It's also super great that Oli got his vocals up a notch and I loved to see him preform.
Honestly artistic choices put aside, Oli HAD to stop screaming as much as he did for his own good. But that's so much autotune I don't see how we could call this an improvement... Even Ed who used autotune in the studio dares to sing a bit flat and sharp here and there...
Been listening to BMTH for years now and I’m very impressed by how much Oli’s voice has improved and how well he’s adapted his voice to cater to the wider audience! 👏
This is genius, adding heavy screaming to a pop song, THAT is how you introduce a mainstream audience into metal, you just give them a taste. Just like coffee, you start off trying a little because if you go straight to triple expresso, it's too much. We need more BMTH features on pop songs! It's always been rap features... I'd love to see it shift to metal.
@@randomchannel323 Thats what I'm saying ^^ I dont see a big difference between this and Bite My Tongue, except for Bite My Tongue actually being heavier and Ed Sheeran being more famous 👀 But somehow this is celebrated as something that never happened before... Just because its Ed Sheeran.

I was wondering why it sounded like a heavy rock version at the beginning but I was jamming, then the chorus came in and I was genuinely shocked. This version sounds so good, genius adaptation and mix of the 2 genres!
As a bring me the horizon fan since “pray for plagues” I am totally digging this and you can tell those dancers were FEELING the music and Oliver’s screams.. PURE POWER! 🤘🏻😝
uh im not sure what the dancers have to do with this lol. Im sure they were tired of hearing that song from all the practice sessions listening to it. Also they are dancers... I have listened to bmth for a long time as well and I have heard him do way better live.
I can hear BMTH's strong sound; like how the music sounds like some songs from both That's the Spirit and Sempiternal, but at the same time, they didn't overpower Ed Sheeran's sound. This is what good quality music is.
You don't have to like bmth to appreciate this. Rock/metal being featured on the opening act of the Brit awards is a huge step for the Rock music scene as a whole, the Ed Sheeran fans may of been very confused and even offended by unclean vocals but hopefully it can help more pop fans broaden their music taste horizons.
Regardless of what people think from either side, Sheeran or BMTH, objectively speaking it just doesnt work. The instrumentals were cool, but Sheerans voice didn't suit the BMTH aspects & Olivers voice didnt suit the Sheeran aspects. Its like that Friends episode with the trifle & meat... Individually good but together bad.
Could this be the turning point for metal to be integrated into the mainstream? Like alongside pop stars? Maybe one day we'll have metal at the Oscars, ya know? Love it. Kudos to Sheeran!
Sadly it’ll never be. Especially since BMTH hasn’t been deathcore in over 10 years. Their music demographic is for 12-16 year old girls. Nothing wrong with that either. But they’re not metal anymore. Which again is fine.

It would be easy to say they sold out, but if you knew their discography they really are just one step ahead of the curve.
@@Reject101Personal I agree that there probably has been someone somewhere for every song they did who did something similar before. Maybe someone made a "linkin park inspired" track like teardrops, someone else a weird whatever track like wonderful life, and someone else a catchy I-wanna-just-rock-out track like Throne. But nobody did all of that, with the level of production quality and attention to detail, the albums as a whole (yes we don't listen to Albums anymore but it's still important that not just one signle track is good) plus the distinctive voice of Oli.
Damn! Oli and Ed's vocals weirdly compliment each other really well! I actually like this version of Bad habits compared. It sounds better as a hard Rock song

Two totally different styles, who would have thought they'd work so brilliantly together. Love to see some mainstream appreciation for rock/metal (what ever you what to consider bmth)
BMTH is BMTH they don't have a single genre.... They have been successful with so many.... They just play what they want..... And they still play some of their heavier songs at shows.
Bring me the horizon x Ed Sheeran one of the best things in 2022. Pop and metalcore collides in BRiTS. Amazing performance! Electric atmosphere! Well Done ! Much love to both of them. They saved many lives. I am a huge BMTH Fan from Greece 🙏🤘👋🧡❤
It's like in those high school movies of the 90s early 2000s, where at the end of the year there is a recital or a theatre performance. And this time all the different kids (the popular people and the underdogs) got together to make something together. It's actually cool.
I wonder how many people weren't expecting that and then ended up being completely impressed...and how many people hated it. It was such a great performance and amazing production, I wish I could've been there!!
People who are hating on this need to realize how huge this is for rock music. Former metalcore genre band on stage with one of the biggest pop stars in the game today. Decent rock music has been hidden from todays radio but this is a great start to potentially getting good rock bands back on the airwaves.
Former metalcore? Their latest album was more on the metal than rock side, but that's just my opinion. You're right though, we're finally steering clear of stuff like Nicki Minaj, and getting to the more powerful music, it's great!
I don’t think we’ve had a collaboration of this style and as bloody huge as this since Linkin Park and Jay-Z! Absolutely brilliant. We need a studio version!
this was actually an amazing remix and version of this song. Never heard of BMTH before this, they both did a great job! their voices complemented each other very well
Welcome to the club mate. If you enjoy the heavy parts, check out some of their older stuff, if not that much I suggest songs from the "amo." album which is not really heavy. Amazing band nevertheless

@@nuoxy you're wrong dude, it's exactly thanks to this they are actually the most popular rock/metal group of this world, and since years. They always try new things, touch new styles. Ok they began on hard metal, but even at this moment i felt they tried to do original things, and this is what the world begin to want. Not just an artist who stay stubborn and do the same things on 13 songs, on every album he make. BMTH is in his musical style what xxxtentacion was in the pop : 2 precursors of the multi-style.
This is a sign for all us musicians: It's time to tear down all genre boundaries. It's time to mix up so-called "opposing" countercultures and scenes. We need to follow this example and create something truly fresh, exciting and controversial.
Honestly that's why I follow Ed Sheeran. From collabing within his genre like he did with Swift and other artist, he goes out of his way to collab with Andrea Bochelli (opera?) Chris Stapleton (country), Eminem (rap), BMTO (rock/metal), he's not afraid to experimet and mix "opposing" genres, he just wants to make great music
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the dancers. The choreography fits the vibe of the song perfectly. It's got the "flare" of a pop song with the intensity and aggressiveness of a rock/metal song. The fact that you people are begging for a studio version really shows how shit both these mainstream corporate sellouts are in a live setting. They can’t sound good without studio magic like autotune and time alignment.
@@shortwinger3 I wholly disagree. They sound great as far as pitch and timing goes. I could not find any clear indicators that this was anything other than a legitimate live performance. I genuinely cannot determine where you are getting that from. I will say to your credit that the mix is gutless for anything other than a concert setting however that is governed by the goals of the live audio team to set up the mix for the stage and not so much for the home listener. Setting the vocals back a bit and bringing out more of the bass and mid range of the instrumentals would make this a great track to have available on Spotify regardless of the simplistic lyrics in my opinion.
@@shortwinger3 what? I'm fairly certain everyone would still appreciate this version on streaming, but it just needs lack of crowd noise and a little better production. Pump it up louder.
@@willpestka2745 I never said that it isn't a legitimate live performance. I said it's a shit live performance. His attempt to make his vocals sound gritty is just sad. He just sounds like some emo teenager throwing a fit about some girl he likes going with the football jock. And Ed Sheeran's singing is as lifeless as ever. Each time he sings he sounds like he's fighting sleep. Can't blame him, honestly. If I performed songs as boring as his, I'd be fighting sleep too.

This needs to be done more. If ed isn't accepted into the pop community, imagine the collabs he could do in different genres as well as his own stuff. This is coming from a fan of BMTH and metalcore more than what Ed makes, can't deny his talent in any way though.
so right. I have the impression that the pop establishment is still somehow reluctant to accept Ed's success just because he doesn't fall into their category of a sterotype pop star. BMTH has been my favorite band for 13 years. No other “metal” band has made the progression that they have to keep pushing the envelope and killing it in everything they do. Not one album is the same as the other, and to give them the platform to show everyone how much raw emotion and energy they put into each song will open peoples eyes to how powerful their music is. This hands down made my year and more.

You see, everyone keeps saying we need metalcore to be novel again and bring something actually new to the table like crabcore was in 2006. Combining Ed's clean voice with the smooth synths contrasted well with Oli's gritty damaged vocal chords. Metalcore today is so polished and produced, we forgot how much that raw touch really makes that energy go. Let's chase this new vibe and see if it can explode. Maybe even enough to bring back warped tour??
I've been wanting something like this for a while and you can tell bmth started to experiment with a poppy/metal mix type of genre in PHSH and That's the spirit. I think we're seeing the beginning of a beautiful musical revolution.
@@LordDumbash Yeah, most pop-metal fusion we've seen has been with highly electronic hiphop-based pop stuff. I'm really hoping that Avenged Sevenfold's and Shinedown's new albums will bring heavier music right back into the mainstream along with BMTH. Disturbed, too. Hopefully an extremely exciting year for metal and rock, both for pushing it even further into mainstream view and getting that shitty mainstream rap out (cough cough Pushin P), and also just more music for us to enjoy.

ES justifying his songwriter of the year award... his songs & melodies are just timeless... and transcend music genres! Somehow, as random and unexpected as this was... it just worked... 😮 and kudos to Ed for being open-minded enough to let his music be "moulded" in such a new direction!
Search youtube for the Nine Inch Nails x Carly Rae Jepsen mashup I Really Like A Hole. It has exactly that kind of tantalizing contrast that shouldn't work but just fits perfectly somehow.
We need more pop and metal crossovers, this could be the start of something beautiful. Ed Sheeran really needs to do the album with Cradle Of Filth already.

Much respect to Ed Sheeran for having the balls to do this collaboration!
This song is about adrenochrome they both love it thats why they making duo
People out here really forgetting that Ed was an indie weirdo before Plus, huh?
@@AllTheArtsy Even on Plus he was still doing weird songs and trying to rap and such. Ed's biggest break was on SBTV ffs.
@@amirbakeer8812 what?
man what are you talkin about
Ed Sheeran is actually a Heavy Metal fan.
He’s also talked about doing an album with Dani Filth. After hearing this collab, he has to do it now.
My favorite song from my favorite singer
I actually heard that he uses his own music from stuffFrom his guitar and violin and stuff like that
Slipknot isn’t really a nu metal band I’d say metalcore
Shame Oli Sykes's voice started giving out. Thats why they make pop stuff now. He just cant sing it anymore.
So crazy to think that in high school I was listening to Suicide Season and now I'm watching them play with an act as big as Ed Sheeran. Proud of you BMTH
ruclips.net/video/CWCMGIG1Y54/видео.html let somebody go
Same bro
@Becca Stewart Why? Ed’s shared the stage with some genuine legends over his career, BMTH aren’t exactly that.
Sanéese hahaha
I love how they mixed two different styles of music. This is a beautiful work of art.

They really aint though. So many small bands have been doing what they do now before them, they just never got the attention.
@@Reject101Personal IF they were doing what BMTH were doing, before they were doing it, they would be bigger than BMTH and that's the truth.

The fact that you people are begging for a studio version really shows how shit both these mainstream corporate sellouts are in a live setting. They can’t sound good without studio magic like autotune and time alignment.
@@shortwinger3
I wholly disagree.

@@willpestka2745 I never said that it isn't a legitimate live performance. I said it's a shit live performance.
