  • Did you know that the timing of your Doberman's meals, the routine in the household, or even giving your Doberman certain tasks to accomplish each day can drastically reduce your Doberman's anxiety? Doberman owners are no strangers to anxiety in their dogs, but most of us can get a whole lot better at managing it. Today we'll explore 7 effective methods to reduce stress in Dobermans other than exercise. If you're struggling with unwanted behaviors such as excessive whining, barking, destructive chewing, or neurotic behaviors like non-stop licking and pacing, then too much anxiety is a very likely cause! This video is a must-watch if you're a Doberman owner struggling with your dog's anxiety. With these 7 methods, you can help your Doberman feel more relaxed, confident, and happy.

    Great video. It's always so easy to forget that mental stimulation is equally important and can even be more effective in draining excess energy than physical exercise. It became apparent to us early on us raising our pups that on the days we went to puppy school in the mornings the pups were pretty much chill and seemed to nap more for the rest of the day. I always called it their processing their learning time

    Best exercise with minimal effort is to hide their favorite toy outside then have them "find it"! Super entertaining and good brain work for them. Just know they will find all the easy spots pretty quickly. Our last Dobie got to the point where we were putting her rope off the ground in tree limbs (within reach) under things and all kinds of crazy hiding spots. Lots of fun and no walking or running around for us.

    • @holgerdanske3960
      @holgerdanske3960 Год назад +2

      Definitely, our Dobi loves to look for his favorite toy that we have hidden before, he could do it for hours. However, we don't feel like doing that, hiding his toy for hours. It also helps to play soccer with him and shoot a ball, which he then has to fetch.

    My wife got into teaching our Doberman dance moves and they would dance together - the dog really enjoyed this as it was something she could do with her primary owner. She was also very food driven so the food puzzle toys worked great with her. We also taught her to bark at the woodpeckers that would come and knock holes in our wood siding - she took that on as her job and eventually, the woodpeckers stopped coming altogether! That dog was incredibly smart and could be taught to do just about anything.

    Nose Work, especially if you have an unsure Dobe. Nose Work helps build their confidence. Baebae's training helped a lot, especially if you want to compete. She's a scent work judge and does mostly Dobes. Sara Ondrako has an awesome video on how to make a snuffle mat with a pocket. Hound Hugger has a video on how to turn that joley ball into a snuffle ball. We get our guys to a fenced in ball park and just let them rip. They're good for 3 days after that. Susan Garrett has a video on 20 games to play when you can't get out to exercise them due to weather or injury. She also has a 6 sit challenge. Hope that helps.

    Great video and all of these ring true for my doberman. Another person mentioned a car ride and that is also a good one for my girl. Also, for mine, I call it "retail therapy ", just take her to any pet freindly store (it doesn't need to be anything specific, just pet freindly), and afterwards she seems quite pacified. Even if it's just 2 minutes.

    Great video! A lot, if not all, of this video can be used for pretty much all working breeds and even the pup you want to just have entertained while you're away. This question might have been answered in one of your other videos, but I figured asking and waiting for a response might be quicker. How do dobermans react towards new dogs when they are already grown? Specifically speaking about one being adopted. Also, have heard that they can potentially be same gender aggressive. Is this something that is avoidable by introducing them in a neutral zone like parks multiple times? I have experience with dogs, but primarily labs, so I figured I should ask someone who has extensive experience with the doberman breed. Thank you for all the info as well, have learned SO much

Do my expectations raise his anxiety level, lol, it's been 6 days for both of us. It's all going to work out just fine.

    My female dobie is quiet not to big on barking keeping her in the garage. She can like almost tell. time as I spend time with her for an hour and a half at mid day. She is big on chewing so a ball has short life, paper is fun to shred,a pillow is torn for the filling, etc. At 8 mos. She is only partial potty trained so that is why she spends time in the garage which can be messy too. I hide peanut butter around the two rooms in the house she is allowed to go and I marvel how she puts her nose to such fast use and accuracy and quickly finds it. To boast confidence I put it besides something or in it to which she locates it but doesn’t always have the confidence to get it. I don’t get it for her but encourage her to do so herself which I’m happy about the choice to locate and me saying it’s ok to recover. A tug with a rope toy is one of her top play thing to do but after a short while she wants to bite your hand instead of handing it over and tease you by not giving the end of the rope just keeping it two inches from your reach. Cooked bones are a favorite to chew on solo but also she brings it to you to hold and she knows it aids in chewing that bone up much faster! I could talk about my dog and past ones much but I have to draw a line.

      @@pierreduy8838 Good day, like I say she is 8 months and the only barking she may do is at traffic which is only 150 ft. Away and whimpering is only when it’s time to be ok to come in the house. I would prefer she had potty training ironed out but me being 68 and with health issues she can be left outside to do her business only to have her come in after 15 or 20 minutes and do her job in the house. I’ve been around Dobies since I was 20 and have a high account of them and do of this young dog also. Yesterday with no food needed I spent over seventy bucks on chew toys and hide chews that it was like Christmas so she is fun. We went on a Ranger ride which she loves and she’ll sit so close to you it makes steering a chore . I hope you have fun with your dog also

    I got my first Doberman back in August. It’s been rough. Right off the bat he had to go to the vet and we found out he has mega esophagus. Got him treated for that and about 6 months in he had so much energy that he was wearing the wife and I down. Ended up with generalized anxiety disorder. Got him on an SSRI now and he’s finally starting to settle and rest, but is still a maniac. I can say the wife and I have done a majority of these and we’ve seen improvements, unfortunately it’s difficult with his feed and condition to do all. Great material though, definitely works with our other pup.

    Holy roller and plush toys are destroyed in less than 5 minutes. Milk bones she started carrying them around about 10 minutes before she chewed them. Cersei gets lots of running in the front yard and loves searching things. Wish you would still consider training a deaf dog when lights don't work. She is going to be 3 June 4th and the smartest doberman I ever had.

    My son just got 2 female 8 week Doberman puppies. He, we did not know that it’s not a good idea!!!! We live in the East Bay, EL sobrante area and we’re thinking of trying to find a home for one of the pups. I am the one who will be home with them during the day as my son works. Any suggestions for us please are appreciated! P.s. we found your videos after we got them I am afraid….

      WOW, everyone wants to kid around. You need some real solutions. Neither of my dobe's were real fond of riding in the car. I put a crate in my car for them to be in which they got used to and we're happy to jump inside after getting used to it. I always had a bunch of small treats scattered in the crate. The only thing is you have to have a vehicle that can accommodate a crate 😂 I have a small SUV. Something must have scared your pup, since not wanting to get back into the car. Just keep trying with treats and maybe even a new toy. Putting the toy or treats on the seat. With some encouragement I think you'll get your pup to ride again unafraid.

    I have the worse problem with my dog. I can't find ANY toys that she will not destroy and eat (even the "durable for heavy chewers). So needless to say there is not way that I can give her a plush toy.

    I would just talk to my Dobie, especially when we would have to make a choice. "My love, do you like this shirt or this shirt?" And then she'd come over and nose one of them, and then I'd congratulate her on her good choice, and give her cuddles and hugs.
