She's 61 years old, back living a low key life in Canada. She started playing that role 20yrs ago. She's done and over it. Can't blame her for not wanting to play a 60yr old sex addict. Actors love playing different roles and characters and she's been working constantly since the show ended. No one can blame her for choosing her roles.

Puhleeze she is the oldest and the LEAST mature. It has been revealed that Kim was in FACT negotiating to be in SATC3 but her demands where too high so the studio pulled the plug. So to deflect her responsibility she made up the story that she never wanted to do it. You can go back from a year when the news broke that the movie was cancelled and watch/read interviews where she was open to a third movie. She is gaslighting everyone but all thw proof is there in videos and print. There was considerable time and money already spent leading up to a month or so before filming was to start waiting for her to sign as she was negotiating. They already had the other three ladies signed were working in the male costars plus all the behind the scene crew signed. Do you think they would of gotten that far is she was saying no the entire time ? A lot of people lost work cuz of her tactics. I lost a lot of respect for her and her malicious words to SJP to cover up her responsibility in the demise of the third movie.
@@johnjames5882 I dont like her much either, and I think it's pretty telling that she didnt like ALL of her co stars AND the main producer Michael--like it would be different if ANY of the other girls complained about the producer or each other but usually when one person claims EVERYONE else is a problem...they in fact are the only problem. But I did read that the supposed contract demands and money issues werent true. I mean, idk we may never know the real reason but I read years ago that when SJP got a promotion to producer Kim was super unhappy and wanted to be the main star of the show and get a pay raise as well, but they were like "sorry carrie has always been the star," and shes had issues ever since. Every other show she does FLOPS! I mean, I guess shes happy enough but if she wanted to be a bit more successful and famous she shouldve agreed to participate. Theres no telling how well this reboot will be, hell they could go on for 5 more yrs! She really does just seem super selfish and petty as hell. She put all the drama out in the media about her and SJP, she just screams "catty diva" to me!

I don’t know. I became friends with almost everyone I worked with. Maybe later you stop seeing them. But that doesn’t mean you weren’t friends then. It’s just s matter of what you expect of friends, maybe people expect too much. Not all friends are there to hold your hand when you are sick, not all of them give good advice or help you when you need them. That’s what the closest friends are for.
If people lowered their expectations, they would have more friends, would be happier and the world would be a better place.
But certainly if you tell your coworkers: “we are not friends, we just work together” they are not going to like you a whole lot. And if you spend seven years with three other women and you don’t become friends with any of them, then maybe you have a problem.
Exactly. You don't have to be best buddies with your colleagues, hardly anyone is. If you quit your job, let's see how long you stay in touch - true friendships last beyond the job. It's wrong of people to shade because they think it was her attitude that was the reason they weren't all best buddies IRL, when in fact she said it herself - no common ground. Go and make friends with colleagues 10 years older or younger. Not as easy as it sounds.

Why does everyone expect them to be friends? They are friends on the screen because it’s written down in a script. They can hate the balls off each other but as soon as the word ‘action’ is shouted then they get their professional head on and pretend to like each other. I worked in a job for many years with people that I just had to work with, they meant nothing to me and if I saw them in the street I’d just wave to them, if even that. Quite a number of actors, especially working on long running tv shows, have admitted to be pretty close in real life, whether it's the Friends cast, HIMYM, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, One Tree Hill... Several acting ensembles have pointed that out. So young casts like the _Orange is the new Black_ guys share pics of dinner nights and stuff every third week online... Same in film, George Clooney's best men at his wedding with Amal Alamuddin were well-known actors. Sounds like an ordinary Hollywood wedding, except they only had a comparatively short guests list of 100 people, and I know how big Lebanese families are already!😀 Leo and Kate are no real life lovers but non less than soulmates since Titanic. The Hunger Games cast has always claimed to be a big bunch of slobs that love each-other.
And I would probably have a lot more friends not wasting so much time on that celebrity nonsense! 😁 Put in a nutshell, actors totally can develop private friendships, too, and may even be looking for it in that usually very unstable business. What we have to remember here, is this an only-female cast of four very self-actualized... slightly eccentric...middle-aged women, already forced to play besties 24/7 whilst constantly being compared with each-others looks, choice of men, profession, characteristics... In my opinion, there's the rub!

No a 3rd movie would just be beating a dead horse. The 2nd movie was unnecessary and it was garbage and got horrible reviews. You could tell the writers were really grasping at straws to make the 2nd. The story lines were pointless ..A bunch of rich married women bitching about stupid things. Bringing back Aiden was a desperate attempt to cause conflict ..Carrie was an unlikeble shrew and Charlotte was an idiot. Even Samathas story line was ridiculous. The first movie should have been the last. As for Kim we do not know what else goes on in her life,maybe when she was younger she wanted kids but was too busy and maybe now she doesn't want or feels she's too old who knows? And she did not typecast herself as a slut..that was how her charater was written and she pulled it off great. Unlike the others Kim doesn't come off as fake at least in my opinion. She's just telling it how it is. She did six seasons and 2 movies. She owes the fans nothing.

You go to work to earn a paycheck and livelihood, not to make friends. If you wind up with a few friends than that is just a fringe benefit. If not c'est la vie. ChameleonOne for adults a workplace is the same thing as a school/college for kids. a place where you spend most of your day, you interact with people and yes make friends. i'm not saying i'm friends with everyone i work with but i'm still in touch with people i worked 10 years ago. so 17 years and less than 5 friends sounds very sad to me

However, please don't feel sorry for me as outside the work place I have a core group of childhood girlfriends that I have been friends with since we were 4 & 5 years old. Lostinyoursound , you're absolutely right that adults should be able to get along. However, we don't live in a perfect world and that's not always the case. C'est la vie. I can be polite and deal with people I work with and still not consider them friends. That is called being professional. I'm a firm believer in Maya Angelou's quote..." The first time someone shows you who they are believe them". I deal with people according to the behavior and charecteristics that a person has displayed over the years. As I've mentioned above, I have a wonderful group of girlfriends that I have known since I was 4/5 years old, outside the workplace, so believe me I am NOT lacking in friends or friendships. I don't go to work to engage in a popularity contest nor do I have a need to be accepted or liked by everyone I work with...that's just who I am. As I've originally said, my primary goal in going to work is to provide for myself and family and collect that check NOT friendships !

Fandoms are really strange. Why is it so difficult for people to separate real life from fiction? Why do they need the actresses to be just like their characters? Why can't they just enjoy a tv show for what it was?
I applaud Kim Cattrall for refusing to do a third film. This is a franchise that should've never existed beyond television. The characters lost themselves in shoes and petty drama and by the end of the second film, any trace of actual humanity had been stripped of these characters, who were once so inspiring on television. They should just let this rest and allow the show to actually be remembered as the icon it was, rather than as a tired project that refused to die.

Kim Cattrall is a bit like her character in real life, in terms of loving herself first and being true to her principles. Women don’t have to be married with children to be a whole person, and hers was a responsible choice not to have kids in light of her hectic work schedule. She knows her strengths and her limitations.

Probably smart...yet it makes a nicer work environment if everybody gets along and is not undercutting everybody constantly. At least 'pretend' to get along. I agree they don't need to know "everything" about you, yet I knew "the guys" where I work would go to a tavern or bar after work or on business trips, exchanging work news I would not be privy to and I was kinda jealous. Also, a friend told me her husband gets together yearly with his former work buddies after working there for years and being retired for years...again, that would have been nice, altho I really enjoy seeing retired co-workers here and there at stores, etc. in my town.

She looks so beautiful. All the more so because of her wrinkles and natural face. I like that she's being "difficult", it's honesty. At some point you have to be true to yourself: I'm no longer interested in that aspect of my life, I want to move on to other things. I'm personally glad that she is moving on, her acting career outside Sex and the City has been so diverse and interesting.

I've had the pleasure of meeting both ladies on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, Cattrall came off as too Hollywood. Anytime I've encountered the actress she was a bit reserved, somewhat cold and avoided the the crowd of fans. SPJ on the other hand is outgoing. She's awfully kind and down to earth. She even made an effort to make small talk with her fans as she signed autographs and took photos.
Well, that sounds good and all, but one could be the SJP that knows how to handle PR relationships and probably there is another one that had to work every day with the other cast members. I'm not picking sides, but I think we should be a lot more cautious with the information we are presented with and also respect the desires of the actors to be or not in the movies because, as someone mentioned up here, they are also human
Im a diehard SATC fan but the movies sucked! So sensible of her to refuse, the others are just milking SATC for the product placement opportunities, which makes me sad as a fan. Hope they will come to their senses and stop. I'm definitely not seeing any third fourth or fifth movie :(
Totally agree with you! I have a feeling that Parker is the one that has been pushing this "movie" franchise just for the money because she's also one of the producers (no offense to Parker she seems friendly but I can't deal with this). Talk about destroying a legacy of the iconic show that I still watch. The movies were downright awful.

I must be the only one who really really enjoyed the second movie.... but the second movie was painfully honest about a certain kind of feminism, and I guess that's what many women didn't like. Carrie wanting to go out every evening while Big works his ass off to pay for their expensive lifestyle, Charlotte not being able to deal with her children even if she doesn't work and have a nanny, Samantha eternally obsessed with youth and sex with strangers.... it was a serious reality check about the kind of women feminism can create... and from what I see around me, it was realistic.

I think Kim is like one of the rare actors in Hollywood that's completely sincere and honest about her life. That's a p random but I think it's the Sagittarius in her work there completely blunt very realistic about everything so I'm not surprised that she answered this gracefully as much as she could because I would not tolerate any manager or co-worker being bullied for yours and expecting to give in every time. I respect him for tolerating that BS 4 years I would have just walked off and said to hell with the I'm going to do something else

None of us will ever know what really happened, but it’s quite telling that Kim said she was NEVER friends with ANY of them.
When actors have great chemistry on screen it's easy to believe they're good friends in real life. But that's not always the case. They're actors PRETENDING to be best friends. Acting is just another job and coworkers don't always mesh outside of work. But Kim and the other girls worked very well together on the show so I can see how people would believe it was real.

Bullshit. She was older and childless, and after the show was over, they had nothing in common. But she did have the most beautiful body of the 4, and should have been paid more for all the heavy lifting she did in the sex scenes. That was work!

Personally, I am very sad to have learned that Kim Cattrall and the other three actresses from "Sex and the City" were NOT really friends but colleagues. I have been aware of this before when I thought it was tabloid fodder as usual. But, unfortunately, it became too clear that what happened with Ms. Cattrall and the other three actresses was the reality of them not being really friends. I don't blame Ms. Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, or anyone else involved in the "Sex and the City" franchise for what happened at the time. How sad indeed.

We as Americans are always in denial. We want to push relationships into people, or give an impression of that. I'm clear at work that we are collegues and not friends, and I prefer it that way. Even when taking courses in college/University, we are classmates not friends. SJP, the person, I could never see myself being friends with her.

You think that an actor isn't going to choose a script based whether a character is rude to their character? Rather than thinking 'this is interesting, this best friend dynamic that has played for several years shows strain in this scene where Carrie is rude to Samantha, that will be really interesting to play' Actors are not their characters and what actors love more than anything is to see their character punished to see them go through struggles because it makes the creative process more interesting.

Truths! I've been working at the same job close to 17 years and I can count on one hand (not the whole hand) how many of my co-workers that I consider "friends". You go to work to earn a paycheck and livelihood, not to make friends. If you wind up with a few friends than that is just a fringe benefit. If not c'est la vie. Keep it moving and collect your check!

that's not true about Will and Grace, they're actually friends and they meet up with each other for brunch before coming back to tv, they always spoke about how they made time for each other after the show ended

This goes to show you that in certain life phases you meet people and if lucky get a great friendships, other cases just someone you know may bump into and catch up quickly but that is it. As for what you see on the outside you can assume this and that but never know the whole truth.

What I have never understood about an American audience is that they seem to believe or assume that just because a group of people look good together and have good chemistry on set, also means that they hang out together and are best friends with each other. Don't get me wrong, of course some movie stars are like this, but an American audience always seems shocked when it is not the case. You need to remember that at the end of the day being an actor or actress is still a job and you don't always get on with your colleagues. For example, look at the movie "The End of the Affair." Ralph Fiennes and Julianne Moore had many passionate scenes in that film, and at the end of the day they congratulated each other on a job well done and went their separate ways."Fifty shades of Grey" the two main characters hardly speak to each other in real life because they have nothing in common. The only thing they do have in common is the movie they are working on. There is reality and then there is fantasy and an American audience always seems to confuse the two.

It's so refreshing to hear the truth for a change. They don't need to be besties in real life, they worked together for sobbing out loud.
I loved this show and still watch it when it comes to my tv.....repeats are just as good. The idea of 4 fabulous friends having a good time together, sharing secrets, supporting each other etc as well as discussing sex was always good to watch. I have 2 special friends in my life and still respect them for their differences. I love each of those 'sex & the city' gals for their unique characters, especially Miranda who I can relate to; always speaking her mind LOL.
I don’t know. I became friends with almost everyone I worked with or spent a lot of time with. Maybe later you stop seeing them and grow apart. But that doesn’t mean you weren’t friends then. It’s just s matter of what you expect of friends, maybe people expect too much. Not all friends are there to hold your hand when you are sick, not all of them give good advice or help you when you need them. That’s what the closest friends are for.
If people lowered their expectations, they would have more friends, would be happier and the world would be a better place.
But certainly if you tell your coworkers: “we are not friends, we just work together” they are not going to like you a whole lot. And if you spend seven years with three other women and you don’t become friends with any of them, then maybe you have a problem.

She just wanted to move on from the show and try other things in life. That's not unreasonable. She was Samantha for a long time and she was awesome in the role. When it's time to move on, then it's time. Shouldn't have turned into such a big drama and scandal like it did.
