When you spend years rehearsing to get the most modern technique, with doubles, paradiddlles, speed, independence, etc. and then you see this guy perform a very simple but very fluid solo, you realize that the drum is much more than the complexity of the performance, it is a language. Poncho is probably not one of the best but there is no doubt that he has a particular sense for talking with the drum.
@@pyrosaxplayer12 Yes, I love the complexity in this instrument, but I see the new generations very obsessed with technique and speed, I don't think it's bad, but I think there are many examples of enormous musicality with simple techniques (not poor techniques, very well executed but simple) and using nothing, little or at the necessary moment the speed. The beauty of music is that there is a wide palette in execution to do things that make a lot of sense. Just as I like Poncho, Little Johnny Rivera or Panga, I also enjoy Giovanni, Pedrito Martinez or Eliel Lazo, and I don't think that some are better than others, it is simply a different way of making music with this beautiful instrument.
I've always admired Mr. Sanchez's "speaking solos"! Players that make you listen have ya ear for life. Thanks for all you do Poncho Sanchez 👊🏽💯❤️ #MacanaRoxie
Defines coolness and his solos are suave to the max. Less is more and sounds better when done correctly! !uv his style...
This has always been the same way I thought… has a lot of soul that way

This explanation! Complexity definitely has its spot in music, but having complexity doesn't always mean it's great musically. Poncho can do it all!

Poncho is Tottally Badass and sounds Amazing on those Beautiful Mopercs!
Un tambor magistral para un percusionista fuera de serie. Esto es verdadero arte en su maxima expresion.
The trademark of PS is his very clear, fat, and crisp tone that he draws from the congas with much feeling. Right on dude!
Usually I don't like most congas with Remo heads, but these Mopercs sound great, almost as if they had natural heads!
Hi, this is Ashiki Ali, I've learned a great deal from Poncho Sanchez playing congas. I started listening to his music in 1990, he's the best.
Such cool quality sounds and Poncho presents a fine example of how to play and satisfy the soul
No es de extrañarse Poncho Sánchez siempre con un feeling único con REMO O MOPERC suena genial
That's my BEST FRIEND playing (baby) bass up there! GO 'HEAD ON, Ross!!! 👍❤️

Esa Conga en especial tiene un sonido único cuando esta perfectamente afinada. Me encanta ese sonido. ❤
No es la flecha...es el Indio!
Poncho Sanchez. Is the most refined conga player. Professional to do a solo loud and clear and a perfect temple
Simple, tasty, well placed notes, definitely have a sweet space in the land of percussion solos. Bravo Poncho!
