one legendary guy did say as long as KOTM and GvsK does well it will go one and mike wants more Godzilla monsterverse films and the Legendary CEO wants TONS more monsterverse films and Godzilla
Mike Dougherty might have been the best casting of a director ever because the guy loves Godzilla and he’s been a fan all his life. That’s how you make movies you make them with people who are fans of the material so Star Wars should take notes on that.
Bob Williams I think I’ll take the 85 on metacritic for The Last Jedi, than the 40 for this movie. And you know that the reason a lot of film directors got into directing was because of Star Wars...

I think Michael Daugherty is right about the slow-burn approach to filmmaking. People nowadays seem to get bored so quickly with films that take their time setting up their world and it's characters, they end up running those films into the ground and calling them badly paced.

Awesome interview with Dougherty! Really liked his take on Gareth's Godzilla '14 as I really dug the slowburn choice too. Love Trick 'R Treat & Krampus, they have both (Trick R Treat since like 2009ish?) become yearly Halloween & Christmas movie staples during those seasons...and as a longtime Gojira, King Kong, giant kaiju (and giant robot: anime/Pacific Rim) genre fan I cannot wait until Thursday - IMAX - Godzilla KoTM woot woot!

Loved EVERYTHING about the movie. If you're a Godzilla fan, you'll love it. If you're new to Godzilla, climb aboard and enjoy the ride. Really, it was a lot of fun and the FX was great.
I appreciate the the unsettling feeling we got from there being something unknown that could happen any moment - that Brian Cranson's character was trying to uncover. That constant conspiracy/cover up he was exploring and the knowledge something isn't quite right that could reveal itself anytime, was uncomfortable and suspenseful and built up to the actual reveal which made the actual reveal very impactful and powerful and intense and terrifying. There are many ways to create atmosphere and deliver a feeling and that technique worked well for 2014. I am going to see 2019 soon and though I hear it doesn't have the slow but important build up, it's great in other ways. I am excited and hope they make more, as long as they handle each one with honor towards the long history of these creatures, lore, stories and themes, and respects the fans.
Even I thought of Newt from Aliens when I first saw Millie Bobby Brown in the first trailer. When I came to know that Mike is inspired by Aliens for this film, my theory was confirmed. 😊
Aashish Khakha in another interview he talks about the 2014 godzilla and how they wanted to portray him in a way similar to the first alien movie. You know there’s these monsters around you and you may catch glimpses of them but you never really see the full thing till the end. Which honestly after I heard that, it changed the way I looked at that movie and I love it more now.

Edward's Godzilla was my favorite movie of 2014, because of the slow burn and the epic reveal with a very rewarding showdown. It really was like Jaws with a kaiju. I'm fine with the sequel going all out, though. Now we had the slow reveal and there is no point in slowly revealing everything again, even if there are new monsters. Haven't seen it yet, but I can't wait!
Thank you sir!! The movie is amazing and the previous one, even though maybe slightly better in tone/cinematography, was just a preface. This one's gonna have every true old fan really pleased! Imma watching it second time in a couple of days, already watched in 2D today, it is a very decent Kaiju film!
I literally just seen the movie an hour ago. I saw it in 3D and it was so awesome. Like I have so much to say but don't want to spoil it for everyone else. Now I know what they mean when it was commented that Michael Doughtery addressed the past issue of the Monsterverse in this movie. This is definitely a winner right up their with Shin Godzilla and Godzilla 2014.

As a HUGE fan of the original 1954 Godzilla I LOVED the 2014 movie, however the human side of the story wasn't great. Unfortunately Cranston was more of a tease and I would have liked to see him throughout the movie instead of a plot death. That being said....I CANT WAIT TO SEE THIS TONIGHT!!!

My/our best advise to all future up coming Godzilla movies: please do mostly bright day time Godzilla/monsters fight scenes (almost dark night scenes sucks to dark for 3D or seeing any details!) unlike this Godzilla 2 + Godzilla 2014, i guess the reason is the cheaper CGI works in dark scenes
Trick 'r Treat never got a sequel, but so many slasher movies get pointless sequels. There's so much untapped possibilities in the Trick 'r Treat world, I hope we get more movies and/or a television series that continues that franchise.

Maybe more could have been done or researched-discovered-in Godzilla home land(maybe in another movie it will show this history)..but the atomic bomb more than likely blew this up...and it was an area of high radiation. To bad the movie had to have some 'Kid' element to it--which always lessons the deadliness/severity of the movie because when kids are in movies--it lessons the over all dramatics of the story in a way....Maybe the movie was rushed a bit to get all the monsters involved and their history's-maybe too much ''acting''....Was it a bad movie-NO. But, I've seen alot of them-thus my C+/B-
As a true Godzilla fan I felt let down - the constant switch of scenes between the monster fights and the humans degraded the whole fight spectacle. It’s why I disliked G 2014. And what really upsets me is Godzilla’s classic theme (choir chanting) isn’t used at all during the movie! -____-
2nd worst Godzilla movie ever made, IMO-as well as many others. "17 Monsters" & we get to see a flash of two-one being an elephant with fake fur draped over its trunk; the other being a Kaiju from the 2014 film-on tape, not even "Live"! Neither of them ever do a thing, nor cross paths-not once. Where were the other 15??? What we got was a very dark, heavy storm & barely visible monster impostor film once again holding back on its star, who in this one has 0 personality. The promise of "wall to wall monster fights" never even comes close to fruition. Mothra in her final form is in maybe 7 minutes of screen time. Rodan, a bit more-but he ends up being irrelevant. The star, King Ghidorah, is the only thing that even remotely comes close to owing the film, & even then it's barely visible in IMAX, & all is much worse in 3D! I've never been so let down by a movie in my life, including the 1998 piece of crap which at least made no claims of success before it aired. Michael Dougherty, you are a lazy so-called Director, phony Godzilla fan, & know that you greatly disappointed most Godzilla fans, to the extreme. Less than a 40% Positive score on Rotten Tomatoes. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. You blew it, huge! Thanks, for NOTHING!
You're a narcissist who hides behind anonymity and throws a tantrum when something doesn't go your way. GKotM has problems, but the action is not lacking. The humans are just a bit meh. Monster Zero-looked ominous(the design-the heads(Great!) but that monster should have evoked even more fear than Godzilla--but the music didn't push him devilish and destructive and deadly enough...it seemed like the actors(lines-talk) almost, like too much talking-to many "lines" to be read over shadowed the Monsters ominous ness(like you would get into the Monster destructiveness...and here goes this engineer guy with a silly cliché one liner(this guy was like jar jar in start wars)...Rodan looked great his appearance and history was great...Mothra-appearance,history was great monster looks were great....many of the cgi effects were great and special effect were great....The end with all the monsters coming together was great... Godzilla looked great--GREAT!...Powerful- a no bullshitter...
But, I've seen alot of them-thus my C+/B-
_Big deal._
_big milkers._
Bring back Garreth Edwards watch the final climatic Battle of Godzilla 2014 then you'll understand.
No thanks. It can happen once, but that’s it.
nah
This guy fucked up Godzilla for half of the audience and now he fucked up all the titans for the whole audience .
What movie did you even watch? The Godzilla March played whenever the big guy appeared wtf
That's literally every Godzilla movie ever though. I think you're the one who doesn't have a proper history with the franchise.
@@juice2307 Judge me a "Narcissist" based on one film I expected way more out of? I guess the other 70+% of bad reviews are from Narcissists as well?
I feel bad for your family & friends with you needing so little to make such a big judgement of someone you know nothing about. I'm entitled to my feelings & opinions, just as everyone else is. Just b/c you totally disagree with my synopsis doesn't make you a judge all & know all fella.
It's just a movie for Godzilla's sake! LIGHTEN UP! (And it's called "PRIVACY," uh, "Juicy Fruit."
And by the way, why single out 1 so-called "Narcissist," (your reply to me actually makes you out to seem like a Narcissist yourself) when you can instead direct your outrage towards to 300+ reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes & the plethora of other strongly negative opinions here on RUclips & everywhere else on Social media? As for me, I have no time to waste on highly, quick to judge, disturbed Humanoids. So, "Ignore" you go, Juicy Fruit. Seeee yaaaaaa!
ThickNjustrite Too - Hey, hey! Throw an insult my way, too!! ENVELOP ME IN IT.
By the way, to create a long comment that big of just full negatives is quite a skill. Just sayin’.
@@rayoza2607 "To each his own." You liked it-good for you.
@@rayoza2607 Insults? No, I never intend to insult anyone. I only reply to those who single me out b/c I hit a nerve in them, which is what i truly do enjoy as a reply to them. I Lol the harder they attack me, b/c it means I hit a nerve in them so deeply that they wish they never attacked my opinion in the 1st place. They always start it. I finish it & Lol Lol LMAO! Especially when they don't give up & troll real nasty like. Then I know I hit my goal. lol.
