The only thing Tim Pool, for example, seems to care about here is making sure nobody knows that yet another bigoted mass murderer was a big fan of his. In doing that, he dug his legal liability that much deeper.
It's like these right-wing media outlets have decided that the legal system, like the rest of the inconvenient realities they consistently ignore, will go away if they refuse to believe in it. Particularly bizarre to see that both in general and specifically for Fox after the near-$800 million Dominion settlement.
The only thing these guys seem to care about is whether Cult45 loves them. I don't know if they're expecting a 45 dictatorship to save them, or if they're really just that far up their own privileged asses at this point that they think they can dictate which authorities have jurisdiction over them, but it's yet another step-up in the level of fascist self-delusion. I went through all of Pool's explicitly right wing positions that he regularly espouses, and the response was 'Yeah, but that's only because the left have gone SO crazy!'. I pointed out that if you actively reject every left wing position as unreasonable and adopt all of the right wing ones then that explicitly makes you a conservative. No response at that point.
Realistically, Tim used to be able to make a lazy case because he used to pay lip service to being anti-war and pro choice, etc, and just avoid properly discussing those topics. Now he needs to pretend he's had a Damascus style conversion on those topics since they're part of the right wing talking points, so he can call women who have abortions evil and stan for Israel. There's nothing plausibly centrist about anything he espouses. Luckily his audience are so vacant all Tim has to do is say 'But I'm a centrist' once per day and that is enough for the grift.

Lawyers are held to some of the highest standards of ethics of any profession. Just because there are a few dirtbags who chase money doesn't mean that 99% of the profession is not honorable. Most lawyers do pro-bono work for people who can't afford legal services. Most of them and their paralegals go into profession because there is honor in upholding the integrity of the system by making sure every client gets fair representation. There are so many lawyers who work with working class people, immigrants, the disabled, victims of discrimination, abuse, ect, ect. Malignment against the profession are based in ignorance, a knee jerk reaction against the people who stand between us and total tyranny.

I very much want kids to understand when you say that term you really effed up and if you want to see what that looks like watch Tim pool. I don't care how rich he gets, he needs to be made into a pariah because that's exactly what he is on our society.
Emma is not a smug person. But every time Poole is discussed, she really struggles to hide it on her face. Untl the end then it just exploids out of her. But more power to her, she deserves every ounce of the smugness.
They do that with Jehovah's Witnesses all the time. The first claim made is always assumed true, then when the real facts come out, they delete the article or lock it and push it down the reading list and never post a retraction. This happens with every media organization around the world multiple times a year, even NPR.

The funniest thing to me is that, from what I've ever seen, even the most right wing fans don't get mad when a show they follow says "Sorry, we got this one wrong". A retraction is the bare minimum effort you can do, and your fans will almost never hold it against you. If anything, most say "See, this is what they should do! They're paying attention to the facts!". You can lie and say "We did our homework, but unfortunately we identified the wrong person, and that's our mistake" and aside from some fringe people who wouldn't believe it no matter what, everyone else is likely to say "Well that's good, I'm glad he checks his facts" even if it's still a complete fucking lie.
You're right, it would increase someone's credibility if they readily admit when they get it wrong. What sort of moron would be so arrogant to pretend that they never make a mistake?

Something I really enjoy is Sam asking questions he obviously knows the answer to but is helpful to a layman. It's helpful for a layman like myself, it demonstrates he has some knowledge of it before hand, and it's honestly something I don't see from other sources.
