Coach it's sensible technique because most times people try to angle without a shot to cover the movement so the hook is a nice effect to keep opponent preoccupied 👌😁

I think knowing how to do both moves will help you when you know which way your opponent wants to move away from the ropes.... if you anticipate he's going to go to his left then you do the opposite move if he's going to go to his right then you do the opposite move..

Hey Coach! Great tips and tricks, explained well and done thoughtfully. Got one thing though, if your going to do a footwork video could the camera stand back a bit so we can actually see your feet move with the rest of the upper body. A lot of the shots are waaaay to close up!

  • @evgeniantelo9697
    @evgeniantelo9697 4 года назад

That's a beautiful move! In Cuba that step that you took with the left hook we call it paso diagonal or diagonal step. I've seen some Cuban boxers use this as counter to a jab or as a counter to left cross from a southpaw and to be able to execute this in real time is almost impossible for 99% of the fighters. In your video, however, you used it as a combination and when smb is on the ropes, which makes the punch easier to land. I liked it a lot. Have you seen anybody do it, when I say anybody I mean, an elite boxer in a boxing match, not in the gym?

That technique is replacing the standard inside pivot for what is know as the d'amato shift.
Note* the left hook thrown is an off centered step through left cross or hammer.
This is very similar to GGG step through cross.
    So in summary:
    Jab
    Cross
    Off centered step through (footwork)
    left cross (actual strike)
    D'amato switch (tyson move)
Left hook to the body. Etc

  • @MrJrhzues

Your punches should always distract the opponent from being aware of your footwork. That's why that particular move is effective.
A similar effect is done when a standard conventional meets a south paw.
The s.paw has the left cross into the "loma" shift. Which is all the same thing.

Great video coach. I currently take muay thai and boxing for my stand up. The footwork in muaythai is a little different, same punches and defensive blocks parry etc. But I'm having trouble incorporating the 2 because of the stance. It would mean the world to me (pause) lol if you can do some videos for guys who try to blend both styles and have the different stances in particular this video with the lead foot and heal being on the line as opposed to a higher more rectangular stance. Thanks just subbed
