Coach Anthony, I have a question, could you make a video explaining when you should block vs head movements on defense. Which one is for which situation?
Hey brother, i believe that theres no correct answer to this type of question. For example its quite common to roll under a lead hook but if you are continuously doing that it makes it easier for your opponent to read your defence so you need to throw in some blocks or integrate footwork so you arent very predicatable.
Siraaj A My time is tied up. I know their has to be a connection because blocking maintains your position and movement changes it. It probably just varies though from person to person. One day I'm going to study it. Thanks for commenting though
@@wallacedell3456 all good mate thats why i said theres not really a right or wrong answer, my general rule of thumb though i would say is that id rather move out the way of the power shot instead of blocking as it still fkn hurts even if you block BUT also your opponents power punch opens them up for a counter if you are able to roll with it a bit.
@@olally7270 still got too much to learn mate, just hours of me getting my ass kicked in the gym makes you have to remember things. id say its basically the same, you just want to keep your lead leg on the outside of your opponents lead leg as it opens them up to more of your shots and keeps you out of line of a counter cross etc.
One of the things I love about these vids, is not only is the coaching excellent but you can also really see just how skilled Fast Eddie (and all Pro's) are.
cut off the ring, the guy that teach me circle motion method to box was from Romania he was very good friend to, he told me to cut his way which means cut off the ring i still remember, very important concept, very good mini course, real information, thank you man
great video, lol I am a thia guy and jumped back into boxing and dam I was following instead of cutting, paid the price with some shots, thanks coach for the advice. Will make the adjustments
Hey coach I'm an mma fighter out of Albuquerque New Mexico, thank you for these videos! I've learned a lot from them and no matter how many years I've put in the game I can always learn more, I'm 26 now but I'll always be a student of the sport! I would love to come get some training in with coach Ant!
Coach Anthony my number one favorite guywould love to have him watch the videos I started making and putting up little by little and see what he thinks I got over or am just getting over a bad shoulder injuryso it's been a long time since I can't find a good gym I'm watching good trainers online like the coach
imma ask, is it wrong for a right-hander to execute a southpaw stance? ... i'm a right-hander but i kinda used to being a southpaw rather than orthodox.
Been a while for me since I saw one of your vids; still banging out gold tips as always. Best coach on RUclips. That tactical beard made me smile -- hard to land one on the chin when you can't see exactly where it is, right? Cutting off the ring intersects with taking angles; you can punish lateral circling the same way you punish a guy for stepping straight in at you. If a guy wants to circle without being caught, he has to back up a step to be out of range as he does so; he wants you to step into his vacated space, aka follow him as demonstrated. You have to just be mindful where the middle of the ring is, using your distance from the ropes behind him as a guide. Hold that ground and give him no place to step back. I'd love to see a counterpoint video on how to circle correctly when a guy is aggressively keeping you near the ropes. Most circling videos act like your opponent is giving you space or overcommitting where, you can just duck a punch to slip by, and you don't have that luxury in tough fights. Btw Eddie has a bad tendency to step backward a bit when cutting you off to his right... he's giving almost a full foot of space that he shouldn't. Is this just his style because he doesn't tend to pressure?
Hey coach Anthony! This as always was a great 2 part video instructional! You always say this is not scripted it just comes from your head and that you kinda go all over the place. This is what makes you and your channel unique, don't apologize for it, I for one love how you breakdown things, better than most. I have a channel that promotes fitness, martial arts and self-defense, I will be using some of your advice for training and teaching in my videos. Because like you said you are the real deal and boxing is also a martial art in its basic sense. Even Bruce Lee was a golden glove boxer, that is where he got some of his footwork and movement. Thanks Bill
Coach Anthony, could you give us different combos from defense-perspective, and how to confidently get away “untouched”, mixing (head movement, philly shell and blocking).
Appreciate you coach I gain knowledge from your videos and teach these kids how to box maybe the put the guns down when they learn how to use their hands 🥊🥊
The person in the box also becomes focused on reacting vs. acting. He/she has to think about how do I get out, what punches are coming, where is this guy/girl going... And if they are reacting/on the back foot, they are going to be fractions of a second slower in whatever they do. That "pressure" from being trapped also mentally breaks down fighters (eg, GGG vs. anyone not named Saul Alvarez).
Hey coach great content. Been learning a lot from your channel but I want to actually start using my new skills in sparring. Any tips on choosing a boxing gym with a good trainer.
Thank you, Coach Anthony. Another outstanding video in regards to cutting off the ring. I love the jab to the body with the overhand right. In my opinion, your boxing channel and Precision Striking (Coach Jt Van V) are the best for us boxers in regards to instruction. That's because you keep the instruction simple in explanation yet very effective and practical. By the way, please do some more videos for us southpaw boxers. God bless and thank you. geo g throw punches and give him a reason to back the fuck up , when ever you get in spar unless your a defensive counter puncher you should be always trying to stand your ground and keep the centre of the ring
Thanks Coach Anthony! It took me a very long time to learn how to cut off the ring. Someone also told me just move my front leg clockwise or counterclockwise. Depending on what direction they are going.

Eddie was (and is) a good fighter but for purely selfish reasons I learn so much by watching what he does. Thank you.
Coach Anthony. Thank you so much for your clear instruction. I’ve learned so much. You and Fast Eddie are the dream team for sure! 👌

Tips on establishing control when both you and your opponent are trying to cut the ring off on each other?
