    Coach Anthony, I have a question, could you make a video explaining when you should block vs head movements on defense. Which one is for which situation?

    • @sa6018
      @sa6018 5 лет назад +10

      Hey brother, i believe that theres no correct answer to this type of question. For example its quite common to roll under a lead hook but if you are continuously doing that it makes it easier for your opponent to read your defence so you need to throw in some blocks or integrate footwork so you arent very predicatable.

    • @wallacedell3456
      @wallacedell3456 5 лет назад

      Siraaj A My time is tied up. I know their has to be a connection because blocking maintains your position and movement changes it. It probably just varies though from person to person. One day I'm going to study it. Thanks for commenting though

      Siraaj A You seem to know a bit bro. Would this vid be the same if you were boxing a southpaw?

    • @sa6018
      @sa6018 5 лет назад +3

      @@wallacedell3456 all good mate thats why i said theres not really a right or wrong answer, my general rule of thumb though i would say is that id rather move out the way of the power shot instead of blocking as it still fkn hurts even if you block BUT also your opponents power punch opens them up for a counter if you are able to roll with it a bit.

    • @sa6018
      @sa6018 5 лет назад +1

      @@olally7270 still got too much to learn mate, just hours of me getting my ass kicked in the gym makes you have to remember things. id say its basically the same, you just want to keep your lead leg on the outside of your opponents lead leg as it opens them up to more of your shots and keeps you out of line of a counter cross etc.

    Been a while for me since I saw one of your vids; still banging out gold tips as always. Best coach on RUclips. That tactical beard made me smile -- hard to land one on the chin when you can't see exactly where it is, right?
    Cutting off the ring intersects with taking angles; you can punish lateral circling the same way you punish a guy for stepping straight in at you. If a guy wants to circle without being caught, he has to back up a step to be out of range as he does so; he wants you to step into his vacated space, aka follow him as demonstrated. You have to just be mindful where the middle of the ring is, using your distance from the ropes behind him as a guide. Hold that ground and give him no place to step back.
    I'd love to see a counterpoint video on how to circle correctly when a guy is aggressively keeping you near the ropes. Most circling videos act like your opponent is giving you space or overcommitting where, you can just duck a punch to slip by, and you don't have that luxury in tough fights. Btw Eddie has a bad tendency to step backward a bit when cutting you off to his right... he's giving almost a full foot of space that he shouldn't. Is this just his style because he doesn't tend to pressure?

    Hey coach Anthony!
    This as always was a great 2 part video instructional! You always say this is not scripted it just comes from your head and that you kinda go all over the place. This is what makes you and your channel unique, don't apologize for it, I for one love how you breakdown things, better than most.
    I have a channel that promotes fitness, martial arts and self-defense, I will be using some of your advice for training and teaching in my videos. Because like you said you are the real deal and boxing is also a martial art in its basic sense. Even Bruce Lee was a golden glove boxer, that is where he got some of his footwork and movement.
    Thanks
    Bill

    The person in the box also becomes focused on reacting vs. acting. He/she has to think about how do I get out, what punches are coming, where is this guy/girl going... And if they are reacting/on the back foot, they are going to be fractions of a second slower in whatever they do. That "pressure" from being trapped also mentally breaks down fighters (eg, GGG vs. anyone not named Saul Alvarez).
