Easily the best channel on RUclips for practical learning and following along of projects. Not often you get someone who will share everything so we can follow along at home
Have you ever worked as a teacher / instructor before ? You have a clear voice, calm manner, are very encouraging though the video and have a nice engaging smile. I'm glad you like Michael Klements have decided to come "on screen" now ! Thanks again from just outside Washington, DC ! 🙂
If you're doing a 1mm Shell and want to add an "additional 2 milimeters", you have to select the face on the back of the body. As you're selecting the inside face and extrude by 2mm, doesn't that add only 1mm, as it first extrudes "through" the 1mm that's already there?
Great tutorial!!! Thank you!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to do this on my own for days. This makes it so easy! I plan on doing larger four plate builds and i cant wait to try this out.
Thanks for the great tutorial. But how did you make sure that the length of the channel is exactly a multiple of where the LED strip can be cut? Cant find any way to get the length of the spline to adjust it accordingly
Off the top of my head you should be able to use the 'Measure' tool from the 'Inspect' menu at the top. Click on one of your lines and it should tell you the length.
There's something off about this tutorial that I can't quite place. If you're placing the sketch on the back face of the starter, and then extruding -13mm, it extrudes away from the back of the starter clip. If you do the opposite, and do 13mm, it pulls it over the top of the starter as in the video, however if you then add the 2mm extrusion on the back of it, your project will no longer print flat, because the shape protudes 2mm more
Can't seem to find the link to the Fusion 360 project file. Am I missing something? And while at it: Would you mind exporting it to something more generic like step/stp for those of us preferring other CAD software than F360. Otherwise: amazing video as usual. Thank you!
Thanks. Download 'Neon Shape Starter' file as a STP model here: www.printables.com/model/332454-how-to-make-desktop-neon-signs-3d-printable-batter/files (scroll down the list of downloadable files)
I bought 12V instead of 5V lights. Is it possible to change the resistor and capacitor to handle this? I know the batteries won’t work but would like to use the boards and lights I bought and not waste them
Another small tidbit - to do the backbone at the end (1.5mm) you need to do the extrusion for the Regular extrude and not Thin Extrude - that was my experience at least
Actually I just got a Ender 3 printer, so I will be able to print some of the ideas I gave you earlier (my shopping list for Christmas LOL). Please make a video of your workplace, your notebooks and brainstorming methods plus maybe your reading library. Thank you, - Robert. 🙂
Hi Robert, I'm currently in temporary accommodation but hope to move to a more permanent place towards the end of the year. Perhaps once I am settled in there it would be a good opportunity to share a video similar to your request. 🙂

The circuit I designed would not work with individually addressable LEDs. You could still use the design and replace the PCB with a circuit of your own design which incorporates a micro controller.
@@abecoulter8550 I believe you would still need to incorporate a micro controller to analyse the DMX signal and react to the desired channels (likely chosen using the traditional dip switches but could also be 'hard coded').

Thank you very mcuh for teaching the skill.
Did I miss the part anywhere on your page on how to power this through USB battery: the components/wiring for that?
Hi Ronnie, all that is answered here: ruclips.net/video/5t02s6qDqtE/видео.html
I've been following this exactly with my own sketch but it won't let me use the offset at all. What am I doing wrong?
Exceptional instructions and clarity!
How do you extrude such kind of unclosed shapes? Fusion doesn't allow me to select the sketch. I tried thin extrude and normal but without success.

I made a Star shap but I can't get the extrude commands to work
Rather than making 2 dots a certain distance apart on the drawing, take the photo with the ruler visible right next to the drawing.

Hello, I have a question about a project of yours, how can I contact you? Thanks!
For those who are first timers to Fusion 360 like me, to finish the spline open ended as in the video, press Enter after the last point was marked
Thanks for sharing that advice. :)
